...I needed a new printer to replace my aging LPT Officejet 635, and this was on special offer (£111 inc VAT) at a local Cash & Carry. I needed a network printer, which could produce high quality photographs, and a flat bed scanner. As far as high quality photos are concerned, the 4800x1200 dpi of this printer matches the best. The flat bed scanner, with built in 35 sheet Automatic Documnent Feeder, is great for photocopying books, or scanning in documents, although manual scanning is quicker for single sheets. Optical Character Recognition is a little difficult to find, but Read Iris 9 is supplied with the device. It is selected by the type of output you request from the scanner, which can be confusing. Advantages: small and lightweight
Disadvantages: Overheats & power adapter melts into motherboard, HP has very poor customer service

...After 9 months of using my nx6110 laptop, the power cord melted into the system board and I lost the ability to charge the laptop. It was still under warranty, repair went fine through HP until exactly nine months after it was fixed, the EXACT same problem happened AGAIN. Warranty had expired and HP customer service told me "buy a new laptop because it is approximately the same as the cost to replace the system board again!!!!! So I only recommend purchasing this laptop if you want to have the same problem repaired every nine months. I contacted HP over 23 times yet received no assistance, apology or help. Additionally, the nx6110 batteries were recalled due to "overheating" yet they stated my battery was "fine" and again refused to stand behind their faulty product. My experience has been so bad that I will NEVER purchase any HP...

HP Compaq nx6110 - Good Value Slim Laptop

Advantages: Good list of features, slim, light and good value!
Disadvantages: No DVD-RW drive, no floppy, no volume keys, little software included.

The HP 4215 for buisness and personal use

Advantages: Covers all of the printing needs for a small office
Disadvantages: The print quality whilst very good is not as good as my dedicated laser printer!

...When my existing fax machine needed refilling I discovered that it was cheaper to replace the machine than to get a new printer roll. I chose the HP Officejet 4215 because it performs all of the tasks I need in a small accountancy office whilst not taking up a lot of space on my desk it is also easy to source consumables for it as both original and remanufactured items. I especially liked that the copy and fax facilities are stand alone as i dont always have my computer online and some clients like to fax me in the late evening when i am not in the office to manually receive them to the pc. I run my own accountancy business and for several years have been using a separate equipment for copying, faxing, scanning and printing because I have found that on the whole a dedicated machine gives better quality results even though...

I should probably give you fair warning that any of the stuff you want to find out, like networkability, print speed, memory capacity etc, you won't find out here. This is for three reasons: 1. I don't even understand the terms above, mainly because I made them up. They just sounded like they might relate to photocopier/printer-y type things. 2. I really don't care enough to find out. 3. You don't really want to know either. It's awfully dull all that stuff, and you can probably find it out on the HP website (assuming they have one. They probably do. Officejet Pro a waste of desk space

Disadvantages: wont print more that 100 sheets per print head

...I bought a H5400 duplex and within 2 weeks the print head started to malfunction and readable black copies could only be made in 'Photo' mode. I waited nearly 2 more weeks for a replacement print head and within 2 days this also malfunctioned. HP echanged the machine within 10 more days with a reconditioned unit. I complained I didnt buy a recon unit I wanted a new one because the recon unit didnt work from the get go. I wouldnt buy a new car with 20,000 miles on the clock would you. Also it will only print labels in best quality mode as it skids them through and miss aligns them in normal mode. It also will not print edge to edge envelopes. The closest it will print to the left edge is 1 inch I print my company logo in the top left corner. Not anymore. It can take up to 5 minutes to warm up in a morning churning and whiring away...
