A GOOD PRINTER TO BUY

Good affordable HP Officejet Pro K5400

Advantages: Provides fast and economical prints
Disadvantages: photo printings not the best i have seen

...At first I had a few problems loading the cd,it kept saying the disc couldnt be read,found out it was just a faulty disc which was promptly replaced (from the shop I brought it from) As for the printer it does everything and more. You can get too types of cartridges for this printer,the standard ones which print about 500 pages and the XL cartridges that print about 2400 (thats a lot of printing) My printer came complete wth 4 inks,and 2 printerheads - (I think this is standard,across the board) So far I have printed off holiday photos,leaflets and flyers and I can say the printer is fast and economical,it prints top quality prints in next to no time. In addition to the cartridges and printerheads this printer also came with an add on bit at the back which can be used for double sided printing (will come in useful I think!)...

...I purchased this to replace an HP G-85 all in one, and for the most part im extremely pleased. The scanner function is nothing short of fantastic! once you set up the network card (standard for the 9130) you just hit scan and a speed dial button that you previously configured that points to a folder on your computer; thats it, the printer scans, converts to pdf, and stuffs it over the network and onto your computer! saves me unbelievable amounts of time compared to my old all in one printer. print function is also good, but it doesnt do the stated ppm. good enough for most things, but i would like somewhat faster. the one problem i have is paper tray #2. it just doesnt feed right, and it apparently is a design problem. when i use heavier paper, such as the HP bright white 24#, it jams. and jams. and jams. HP was very helpful...

Officejet Pro a waste of desk space

Disadvantages: wont print more that 100 sheets per print head

...I bought a H5400 duplex and within 2 weeks the print head started to malfunction and readable black copies could only be made in 'Photo' mode. I waited nearly 2 more weeks for a replacement print head and within 2 days this also malfunctioned. HP echanged the machine within 10 more days with a reconditioned unit. I complained I didnt buy a recon unit I wanted a new one because the recon unit didnt work from the get go. I wouldnt buy a new car with 20,000 miles on the clock would you. Also it will only print labels in best quality mode as it skids them through and miss aligns them in normal mode. It also will not print edge to edge envelopes. The closest it will print to the left edge is 1 inch I print my company logo in the top left corner. Not anymore. It can take up to 5 minutes to warm up in a morning churning and whiring away...

I tried it with a print of the first page of this opinion and all it got wrong was failing to recognise the ½ symbol in 10½ , putting 10Yz instead. ...I needed a new printer to replace my aging LPT Officejet 635, and this was on special offer (£111 inc VAT) at a local Cash & Carry. I needed a network printer, which could produce high quality photographs, and a flat bed scanner. As far as high quality photos are concerned, the 4800x1200 dpi of this printer matches the best. The flat bed scanner, with built in 35 sheet Automatic Documnent Feeder, is great for photocopying books, or scanning in documents, although manual scanning is quicker for single sheets. Optical Character Recognition is a little difficult to find, but Read Iris 9 is supplied with the device. It is selected by the type of output you request from the scanner, which can be confusing. Advantages: easy to use and install, super fast prints, always clear print outs, long lasting cartridges

HP PSC 1317 all in one

Advantages: Looks Great - Good Quality
Disadvantages: Scanner function a little tricky to use

...the softwares fault as it works fine with PC but this one feature is a little tricky with the Mac. What i would say it put the quality of the copying up (a higher DIP) compared to what it tells you to as it does make a difference. I am considering buying the new version of this printer as it is white and will match my Mac but this is not because it doesnt work, its because it works so well that i would want another. One tip, Go to tesco to buy their version of the ink as you can save loads of money. Instead of paying £17.00 for ink i found one in the sale for £4.00. They often have ink reduced, its worth checking out. I can honestly say i would never swap from HP now. A great little printer....
