Officejet Pro a waste of desk space

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: wont print more that 100 sheets per print head

...I bought a H5400 duplex and within 2 weeks the print head started to malfunction and readable black copies could only be made in 'Photo' mode. I waited nearly 2 more weeks for a replacement print head and within 2 days this also malfunctioned. HP echanged the machine within 10 more days with a reconditioned unit. I complained I didnt buy a recon unit I wanted a new one because the recon unit didnt work from the get go. I wouldnt buy a new car with 20,000 miles on the clock would you. Also it will only print labels in best quality mode as it skids them through and miss aligns them in normal mode. It also will not print edge to edge envelopes. The closest it will print to the left edge is 1 inch I print my company logo in the top left corner. Not anymore. It can take up to 5 minutes to warm up in a morning churning and whiring away...

HP Officejet 6310 Multifunction Inkjet printer.

Advantages: Good build quality, quick, networkable, quiet, excellent results, fax
Disadvantages: Software can be obtuse

...I needed a new printer to replace my aging LPT Officejet 635, and this was on special offer (£111 inc VAT) at a local Cash & Carry. I needed a network printer, which could produce high quality photographs, and a flat bed scanner. As far as high quality photos are concerned, the 4800x1200 dpi of this printer matches the best. The flat bed scanner, with built in 35 sheet Automatic Documnent Feeder, is great for photocopying books, or scanning in documents, although manual scanning is quicker for single sheets. Optical Character Recognition is a little difficult to find, but Read Iris 9 is supplied with the device. It is selected by the type of output you request from the scanner, which can be confusing. Advantages: easy to use and install, super fast prints, always clear print outs, long lasting cartridges
Disadvantages: expensive outlay

The inkjet that likes to think it's a laser

Advantages: Reasonable printing costs, quick print speed, very good quality in both colour and B/W
Disadvantages: It could be smaller

...The HP Officejet Pro K5400 costs about £80 (it depends where you get it from) and its marketing point is that it is supposed to be the world's fastest desktop printer for business color. I'n not quite sure what the differnce between business colour and other sorts of colour are, but hey, who's worrying! It's a good machine to have if you want a reasonable nod towards a colour laser printer, but don't actually want the expense and desk space of owning one. It does colour printing of a very good quality - good enough for photos It works really well with HP photo paper (I've done a separate review of that if anyone is interested). It prints in 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution in black and white and 4800 x 1200 dpi resolution in colour. In terms of desk space, it's about average - I find all HP printers quite bulky, but it sits nicely...

If you need to scan or copy then this is not for you but it will produce low cost prints. I used this printer when i printed some ICT coursework from my teachers office. The text sheets came out well and with reasonable speed. Next was a powerpoint presentation in handout form. This was a colur print. It came out in good quality and took a second or two longer than the text sheet. I was happy with both sheets so far. Finally, i had a photo to print. The HP 4215 for buisness and personal use

Advantages: Covers all of the printing needs for a small office
Disadvantages: The print quality whilst very good is not as good as my dedicated laser printer!

...When my existing fax machine needed refilling I discovered that it was cheaper to replace the machine than to get a new printer roll. I chose the HP Officejet 4215 because it performs all of the tasks I need in a small accountancy office whilst not taking up a lot of space on my desk it is also easy to source consumables for it as both original and remanufactured items. I especially liked that the copy and fax facilities are stand alone as i dont always have my computer online and some clients like to fax me in the late evening when i am not in the office to manually receive them to the pc. I run my own accountancy business and for several years have been using a separate equipment for copying, faxing, scanning and printing because I have found that on the whole a dedicated machine gives better quality results even though...
