Neat Netgear 5 port gigabit switch

...I liked this switch so much, I bought two of them. Netgear have a reputation for cheap and reliable networking equipment, and this 5 port unmanaged switch is no exception. When I bought my two, they were retailing online for approx £35 each - but these days you should be able to get one for approx £25 (inc VAT.) The switch is more or less the size of my hand (yes, I have big hands). With 5 ports on the back - all are auto-sensing, as is the gigabit standard, so you don't have to worry about crossover cables if you're daisy-chaining switches... The only other port on the back is for power, which is the usual "wall-wart" plug in transformer you get with most home networking equipment. Given the switch is unmanaged, you can just plug desktop computers, laptops, XBOXes, network printers straight into the switch, and not worry...

The HP 300's bigger, stronger brother

However, remember to plug in the mains cable to the rear of the switch BEFORE you bolt it in. Its difficult to reach to the back unless you have a cabinet that opens on all sides or if like us, the back faces a wall! All of the network sockets and connections are located on the front of this switch so it means no further fiddling around the back once it is installed. ...feel making it very easy to use. The HP G60 has the standard connectivity ports, 2 x USB 2, an Ethernet port, a VGA output so it can be used with a normal monitor. Internet connectivity is good too because as well as a built in wireless card (which is the norm now) that can be enabled/ disabled via a button above the keyboard (it glows red when disabled and blue when enabled) it also has a built in dial up modem which is rarity. The other features are a web cam and microphone (so the computer can be used for video messaging) and a DVD recorder drive. HP for me

Advantages: Cheap reliable and good print outs

...Currently on offer for £26.87 in ASDA is this rather neat looking all in one printer. It is from HP so you know you are getting a quality product. It is perhaps a little bulkier than recent printers I have purchased, but with it having a Photo Copier and a Scanner I guess I can easily forgive it for this little hic cup. The unit as I mentioned is largish being that it is 6.8 inches high and 16.76 inches wide with a depth of 10.22 inches, but in this matt black box is a host of features for a measly £26 quid. My main reason fro changing printer was that this baby was £1.50cheaper than buying new cartridges for my ex Lexmark printer.
