HP ProLiant ML115
Advantages: Value for Money, Upgradeability, Customer Service.
Disadvantages: No Major Disadvantages
...This server is starting the trend of affordable home and small office servers. For just over £100 you can now get this fully functional server without an operating system. This smart looking tower contains a good specification of components for the price, including an AMD Dual-Core Opteron 1210 1.8Ghz Processor with 2MB Cache that is capable of multitasking. 1GB Ram as standard upgradeable to a full 8GB (Please note that 32 Bit operating systems only support upto 3.5GB RAM).
The Option of SATA or IDE storage devices. This includes 1x 160GB SATA Hard Drive. A CD-RW - DVD-ROM Combo (DVD-RW not included). This also has good networking capabilities with 1x Gigabit Ethernet port. This also has on board graphics with the option to upgrade via your PCI express slot. With a 3year next business day on-site warranty you can't get better value...

HP ProLiant DL380G3
Advantages: High Density, excellent availabilty
Disadvantages: Default SmartArray5i does not have option to add battery cache
...We have 12 of these machines, all with dual 2.8Ghz Xeons. The thing I like most about them is that almost everything is hot-plug. From the drives, to the fans, power supplies to the pci cards. Opening the top cover leads to an incredibly well laid out system. PCI cards can be installed and de-installed (assuming the OS supports it) while the system is up and running. I'd highly recommend you invest in the redundant fan option kit. If you're installing another processor then you really need to have this.
On a downside, the only thing that springs to mind is there is no front USB port available. With floppy discs disapppearing these days, it would have been nice. HP seem to have realised this and on the G4 servers there is now a front USB, and no floppy drive.
Managability wise these servers are fantastic. We went from using...

Powerful HP Server!
Advantages: Lots of resource, processor power and expansion
Disadvantages: Price and extras needed.
...Fantastic performance , flawless reliability and reassuringly pricey is a good way to describe one of our Proliant ML370 servers here in the office.
If you need your server to deliver cutting edge technology with bulletproof backup, this is a must for any self respecting IT guy.
The Proliant range from HP has been around for a few years but the latest generation takes advantage of shrinking sized parts and components and power saving methods to evolve an already successful product.
We have both the G5 and G4 models of this server and the main obvious change is the disk size. The hard disks (and it can take up to 8 of them) and the newer slimline serial SCSI type rather than the Ultra SCSI in the G4. Faster and with the same lightning response time, they obviously draw less power resouce from your server and power supply...

HP 350 ink cartridge
Advantages: quality
Disadvantages: price
...As with all HP products you can expect great quality and crisp grey scale images.
The benefit of using Original HP inkjet print cartridges is that they offer consistent print quality and reliable performance. With the HP 350 you can expect "archival-quality documents that resist fading for decades" thanks to HP Vivera Ink. Although HP print cartridges are coming down in price you can still expect to pay a lot more than other substitute brands.
The real question is whether the extra money is worth it. With some of the alternative products on the market today I am inclined to believe you can the same quality for less money.
Many alternative ink cartridges contain more ink than official HP cartridges, however the problem with these cartridges is not always being sure of the quality of the product you are buying, nor the reliabilty...

Server for small business
Advantages: Over all average features
Disadvantages: Low memory
...HP Proliant ML115 G5
*****************
Discussed lot about laptops, now have a look some good desktop PCs. Going to discuss New launch from HP, a server desktop PC. Server PCs are most popular in today's business and Hp is always ahead to provide latest and upgraded servers time to time.
HP Proliant ML115 G5, is one of the good and affordable desktop server and it can be good choice for your business with its latest technology and configuration and with middle range budget server.
***
Design and size
This desktop is designed as traditional tower design, and size and weight are also something similar to that. It has about 12 KG of total weight and there is no scope of discussion about weight as it is not a new in server PCs.
Desktop has a beautiful tower design and I always like this as this is a most popular design in desktops...

Fancy a Pizza Anyone
Advantages: Small and Cheap
Disadvantages: Cabling can be a bit of a nightmare
...I first used the Generation 1 DL360 around 4 years ago, they were somewhat revolutionary as they came in a 1U package, meaning that 42 could be squeezed into a rack. For some reason I think because they are thin but wide and long they got named pizza boxes. This review is on the G3 model of the 360 there is now a G4 model available but I have not seen any of these as yet.
The DL360 comes from the density optimized line, this means that there are some sacrifices that are made to package the server smaller. DL servers don't typically have many hard disk slots as the low end servers DL360 etc are normally used for infrastructure services and the high end DL580, DL740 for SAN attached functions such as databases, or file servers, they also typically don't have as many PCI slots as the ML range.

A dense server that takes 6 disks
Advantages: Takes 6 disks in a 2U package
Disadvantages: Not a great deal
...The DL380 is the main staple of the server estate for my current company, the server is into it?s 4th generation and this review focuses on the 3rd generation. For some reason I think because they are thin but wide and long they got named pizza boxes. This review is on the G3 model of the 360 there is now a G4 model available but I have not seen any of these as yet.
The DL380 comes from the density optimized line, this means that there are some sacrifices that are made to package the server smaller. DL servers aren?t typically as expandable as the ML line servers and can only be rack mounted, typical applications for the DL380 are departmental file/print servers, and small data base servers.
********** Specification*************
The DL380 is at the mid low end of the DL range and will accept either 1 or 2 Intel Zeon processors...

ML270CDi - What a family car
Advantages: Driving Position, Reliability, Comfort, Service
Disadvantages: no, not really......
...I am on my 3rd ML270CDi, the latest being an '03 with every toy imaginable......they are a simply excellent drive.
you have to bear in mind this is a "two ton truck" with a diesel engine, so rapid it is not - however - for a "two ton truck" it is surprisingly nippy and enjoyable to drive. If you make good use of the revs and hold gears, it will perform well. For fast standing starts I offer one tip, hold the brake hard, rev it hard to get the turbo at full pressure and the truck takes off with startling power.....Its only fault is that sometimes you want a quick start from lights or at a crossroads etc and the turbo takes a second or two to wind up!!
MPG is very reasonable at approx 34mpg on a run at 70mph, cruise at nearer 85-90 and it goes down fast (not the most areodynamic of vehicles in fairness) to approx 28-30mpg. Turn off...

The HP DJ 350c - The perfect laptop printer
Advantages: Small, compact, ideal for on the move, adequate speed and quality
Disadvantages: Expensive consumables, runs on parallel
....
------------------
Compatibility
------------------
The printer uses a Parallel printer cable, which is arguably one disadvantage as many recent printers run on USB making them faster and giving them better capabilities. Despite this, most new laptops and computers still have a parallel port although USB ports are becoming more and more popular. The printer can run on Windows (including 95/98/2000/Me/XP) and also, unlike many recent printer, Windows 3.x and DOS 3.3 or later. It is also compatible with macintosh (Apple MacOS 8.1 or later) however many new imacs don't have parallel ports which means it isn't always compatible.
--------------------
Consumables
--------------------
One disadvantage, is like most HP printers the consumables are expensive. Brands such as HP and Lexmark not only replace the catrdige each time you buy a new one but they also...
