I ended up buying a Hewlett Packard Printer / Scanner / Copier which takes HP 21 and HP 22 Inkjet Print Cartridges. HP 22 PACKAGING AND CONTENTS The packaging itself makes it look as if you are getting a larger cartridge than the one you actually get. For those of you that are into minimal packaging, then I would say that there is too much packaging, in the form of cardboard, and depending on where you buy them from, these are then further packaged into a see through plastic holder. ...I brought the Hp scanjet 4200c scanner second hand over two years ago and have found it to be a good buy although due to a dodgy repair by the prevous owner only half of my scanner works but i still say that is one of the best scanners around. It does not do negatives but then only the expensive ones do. Basically it does all you could want it to do. The preview time using the Windows xp scanner and camera wizzard it takes just 15 secs to do a preview. The avarage scan time is just 25 secs on a normal A4 scan. It is a very easy product to use and well worth the money. Any one who buys this scanner will not regret buying it because it so fantastic.... Read review

There is also an 8300gp model of this scanner which is a Graphic Arts scanner and has a monitor color-meter calibrator as a added feature ideal for graphic designers. Now about the HP ScanJet 8300, the scanner has an OR (Optical Resolution) of 4800x4800dpi and will scan high dynamic range in 48bit colour. This is fine for transparency and negative scanning. The scanner has a max reflection area of around A4 size. HP includes film holders which will hold 3 strips, 6 frames of a 35mm film. The holders can be placed in the base of the scanner for storage.
