HP Improves There Scanners
Review of HP ScanJet 8300 Professional Image Scanner by
Surj1
Advantages: Very Good Quality, Excellent SilverFast Software
Disadvantages: Abit Large, Dust Removal Software Not Good
...The HP ScanJet 8300 is a Professional Image Scanner from HP's Scan jet series. This is one of the top end Scanners HP manufacture and is ideal for the business domain. There is also an 8300gp model of this scanner which is a Graphic Arts scanner and has a monitor color-meter calibrator as a added feature ideal for graphic designers.
Now about the HP ScanJet 8300, the scanner has an OR (Optical Resolution) of 4800x4800dpi and will scan high dynamic range in 48bit colour. This is fine for transparency and negative scanning.
The scanner has a max reflection area of around A4 size. HP includes film holders which will hold 3 strips, 6 frames of a 35mm film. The holders can be placed in the base of the scanner for storage.
The ScanJet 8300 is supplied with HP's own photosmart software. I wasn't impressed with the scan pro scanning...

HP Automatic Document Feeder
Review of HP scanner automatic document feeder by
sadoldbag
Advantages: saves time manual scanning
Disadvantages: a bit noisy and quite expensive
...This document feeder is a handy product which currently costs about GBP160 to buy. It is cheaper in the US at $199.
WHAT IS IT?
The HP Scanjet Automatic Document Feeder attaches to HP Scanjets and is compatible with the Scanjet 5100, 5200, 6200 and 6300 series scanners. It then scans documents automatically.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
You put up to 25 pages of loose paper in it and click a button. The loose pages will then be scanned into your computer. Wow! Now if you only scan one document a day, you might not want to shell out £160 for one of these, but if you do a lot of it, or pay someone to stand over a scanner and do it for you, the economics of this might start to make sense.
INSTALLATION:
Attaching it to your scanner is simple: you take the original lid of your scanner off by lifting it vertically and the docment...

My HP Scanjet 2400 Experience
Review of HP ScanJet 2400 Digital Flatbed Scanner by
ReedRichards
Advantages: Inexpensive
Disadvantages: Not too user-friendly
...My HP Scanjet 2400 experience began when I inserted the installation CD, this began to run and immediately stopped with a 'Macromedia Projector' error message. I presume 'Macromedia Projector' is software used to momentarily give a flashy display before the installation starts. Overkill that died!!! I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2 so my guess is that there was a conflict.
So I explored the CD, found the Setup files and ran these to install the software. I think this worked, although I have no idea if I got the full software set.
Next I tried to scan a series of A4 (paper size) documents as A4 documents using the HP Director control software. Could I do this? Not without a good deal of manual intervention because after each scan the scanner insisted on removing the margins and I had to manually drag them back into place...

Hewlett Packard cheaper than Epson scanners
Review of HP ScanJet 5370C by
Connoisseur_Haggler
Advantages: colour quality, can scan negatives
Disadvantages: Epson expensive
...There are a vast array of A4 flad bed scanners on the market today.
Even some of the basic ones from 600 dpi offer superb results.
I decided to look for one in the 600dpi+ range that not only scans photos and objects but also allows you to scan in negatives (very useful for old photos etc)
The HP products are renounced for reliabilty, quality and reproducibilty and are not always cheap. However when I found the HP scanner of my choice HP5370 it appeared to have the same technical sppecification and features as a similarly priced EPSON 1240U Photo, BUT the HP is at least £55 cheaper!! This is strange! If anyone can give a true comparison between these 2 scanners:
HP5370C v's EPSON Perfection 1240U Photo
They are both 1200 x 2400 dpi optical
Both are 42bit colour
Both have film./slide adapter to scan negatives too!
Both have...

A good scanner for those of a patient disposition
Review of HP ScanJet 3770 Digital Flatbed Scanner by
slarti53
Advantages: Good quality scans
Disadvantages: Clunky software, immense lamp warmup time
...This is my third scanner, the previous ones having died. I chose the HP as it was supposed to give quite reasonable negative/slide scans in additon to the usual flatbed scanning.
Priced at around £60, it is a flatbed scanner. The top cover is removable, allowing the scanning of large books.
Incorporate in the cover is a 35mm negative/slide carrier. This allows the scanning of photgraphic material, and special built-in functionality provides for this.
Optical resolution is 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi, 48-but colour depth.
The scanner has its own PSU, a "wall wart" rather than taking its power from USB.
Installation was easy, and the actual scanning is of very good quality and reasonably fast. The included OCR software works very well.
There are buttons on the top for doing "instant" scans, photocopies, etc.
I do have some...

The scanner from HP!
Review of HP ScanJet 3670 by
PlaceboFan
Advantages: Quick, clear scans
Disadvantages: Fingerprints....
...This is a fantastic scanner, also come down in price recently. When I was in a high street store I had a look at the specs of this one and one that was £30 dearer and found this one to be the better of the both by a tiny margin, but even if it had been an ickle less as could, I would have probably gone with this as it was the cheaper of the two.
The scanner itself is flatbed, which just makes it easier for the user. It is very fast, and the ease of use is extremely simple. Once it's all installed to the computer, just plug it into USB and off you go. Scanning happens when you run the HP program (scansoft textbridge in my case) you can use the HP program for scanning photos or images, but obviously the textbridge I use is for text....
When scanned on both progs the image/text is extremely clear, its just as good as having...

Review of HP ScanJet 5590 Digital Flatbed Scanner by

Advantages: I cannot see any advantages with this product
