...From the moment you arrive at the impressive front entrance with its long sweeping driveway you can tell that this hotel has 'class'. Situated on the edge of Hua hin (yet easily reached by foot in 15/20 minutes) the complex has low rise beautiful accomodation set around stunning gardens and pools and across from the enormous free form swimming pool (which has a wicked steep slide..not for the faint hearted!) lies a gorgeous stretch of white powdery sand.Turn right on the beach and your'e headed for the gigantic golden statue of Buddha which towers over the rocky headland.The local monks will be glad to see you and you can have them pray with you and give you a twisted coloured rope bracelet which is supposed to keep you from harm and bring you peace. Turn left and you can walk into town,this will take you close to the King of Thailands...

The land of Smiles

Advantages: Stunning scenery, cheap, lovely people, great facilities

...Hua Hin I lived in Hua Hin in Thailand for a while and thought it was time to write a review of my experience of the place. I have included the conversion from English £ to Thai baht to give you a rough idea when I'm mentioning cost further into the review. 1 British pound = 49.9982745 Thai baht Hua Hin is in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan with a population of around 60,000 people. The name means 'Head Rock', which comes from the large rock that looks like a head rising from the rocks at Khao Takiab beach. Hua Hin is a reasonably small town, which is approximately 3 hours South in a taxi from Bangkok (which will cost you about 1500 - 2200 baht) on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Lovely romantic little hotel close to Hua Hin

Advantages: Lovely rooms, nice touches like petals on your bed
Disadvantages: Some may find the location too far from Hua Hin centre

...We stayed at Kaban Tamor in December 2002. It's a lovely small resort in Khao Takiab on the outskirts of Hua Hin. The rooms are cute little round bungalows and were spotlessly clean and very romantic - they sprinkled petals on your bed every morning which we thought was lovely. The restaurant was good - we had lunch there several times but only ate there a couple of times at night as we preferred to go into Hua Hin centre. It was quite romantic at night, as you can sit at candlelit tables very close to the sea. The food was authentic and spicy, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was fine, perfectly adequate but nothing special, as is the norm in most Thai hotels. The pool is quite small but very refreshing to swim in and was rarely too busy when we were there - it could be hard to get a sun lounger round the pool though...

The Land of Smiles

Advantages: relatively undiscovered when compared to Phuket & Koh Samui
Disadvantages: long journey from Bangkok

...a page that was advertising Hui Hin, Thailand. Booking This company was called Travelmood and it saved me!! (www.travelmood.com). I have used them before to arrange a trip to Australia and they are very helpful, friendly staff and excellent value for money and go out of their way to assist (I should do a review on them!). They will also tailor bespoke holidays. One very quick phone call later and we were booked on a ten night holiday to Hua Hin, staying at the Anantara Resort & Spa (http://huahin.anantara.com/default.aspx). Flights were via Emirates from Manchester to Dubai then on to Bangkok. We were then picked up in Bangkok via mini bus for the journey down to Hua Hin. Cost was £795 each for flight, ten nights accomodation and airport transfers. I must confess that I had never heard of Hua Hin at the time but the brochure...

Review of Hua Hin (Thailand)

Colonial Style at the Sofitel Central

Advantages: Quite, pleasant and relaxing.
Disadvantages: Limited activity outside the hotel.

...The royal resort of Hua Hin is a delightful sleepy little town in SE Thailand. There are no famous tourist attractions, not too many girlie bars and a lovely long sandy beach. The first week of our visit coincided with a travelling market and a funfair, so there was extra activity there. This was around the time of the queen's birthday (9th August if I recall) so there may have been a connection. There are a few shops and a small night market, a golf course and a pretty little railway station. The royal palace is not open to the public and there's little to see from the road, the bars and restaurants are mainly centred close to the Sofitel Central, so it makes that a very convenient hotel to stay at. Formerly the Railway Hotel, the Sofitel has been renovated and the original colonial style retained. It is a lovely hotel...

A great stay at the Hilton

Advantages: Great rooms,spa,squash courts,pool area,beach
Disadvantages: A very hard bed

...We stayed at The Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa for 3 nights in the end of September 2002. We came to Hua Hin on a bus from Bangkok and just as we got of the bus it started to rain. And if you have been to Thailand you know that when it rains it pours. So we grabbed the first transportation that we could find and that was a pickup where we could sit in the back. So that is how we arrived at the Hilton in Hua Hin?in an old pickup more or less soaking wet. Once we got into the reception we saw that this was a nice hotel. A girl was playing on a string instrument and behind her was a big glass façade, which gave us our first view of the pool area and the beach. The lobby itself is huge and there are lots of places to sit down. A friend of ours had already made the hotel reservation for us and I have to say that the welcome at the hotel...

...conditioning treatments that leave my hair flat. priced at £7.39 for 225g its not cheap but a lot cheaper then similar deep conditiong treatments by the likes of aveda and kiehl's so its not a bad purchase at all. It can be used weekly or every 2-3 weeks as a deep conditiong scalp and hair moisturiser. oh in case the name baffles you (it did me) its supposed to mean: chinese god of hair = h'suan wen hua...

Dil Khush Hua!! (Heart is delighted!!)

...I hit the bottle! Stop thinking gin or the dreaded Newkie Broon I'm talking about the hair dye bottle here! In hairdresser speak I've got what's called "processed hair".Unfortunately a combination of dye,hi lights and the straightners have left my crowning glory feeling dry and rather lack lustre. Emergency treatment was needed to restore the crowning glory to it's normal healthy shiney state! Whilest doing what I always do in London - no not drink tsk! I hit the Lush shop. Having selected my bath bomb's, soaps and assorted other smellies I asked the assistant if she could recommend a decent hair conditioner or mask. Instantly she came back with a tub of H'suan wen hua. Recalling several opinions which lent heavily on a rather nasty smell - smells like a nursing home being one I recall vividly I did have my doubt's about this rather...

I'm a Goddess!

Advantages: A treatment to restore damaged hair.
Disadvantages: The smell might be off putting for some people. Not good for those who colour their hair.

...My first thoughts when I opened the tub and had a sniff were ewwwwww! I immediately regretted not smelling it in the shop. I was in a bit of a rush and I was meeting someone. I went into Lush with the intention of something to help deep condition my hair. This is what the lovely Lush assistant at Covent Garden recommended. I did ask about Arabian Bright as I remember reading a review on that and it being good for coloured hair. She told me they no longer sold that (oh well) and said that H'Suan Wen Hua would help even the most damaged hair into ravishing locks again. I trusted her, bought it and went on my merry way. I didn't even stop to look at what was in it and lets be honest the name doesn't give much away. For those of you wondering H'Suan Wen Hua (no I don't know how to pronounce it either!) means the Chinese God of hair...
