FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

A Lot of Hard Yakka - Simon Hughes
Advantages: An insiders tale of the life of a professional cricketer
Disadvantages: Non sports fans won't find much to interest them
...A Lot of Hard Yakka - Simon Hughes
Simon Hughes may not be the most familiar name in cricket; he never played for England, nor was he ever seriously contemplated for selection. He retired in the mid nineties having spent a decade and a half at the top of the domestic game but only the most dedicated of cricket fans would have been able to put a face to the name.
While Hughes may not have had the most glamorous of careers he still lived the life of a professional sportsman and in this book he provides an unequalled insight into that life. The eighties were an exciting time for English cricket, from Botham's heroics in the '81 Ashes through victories at home and away there were any number of larger than life characters around and Hughes came into contact with most of them. This is not a biography as such, we don't learn much...

Alfie Gives A Hand - Shirley Hughes
Advantages: Nice Story With Detailed Illustrations.
Disadvantages: None
...About The Author
Shirley Hughes published her first book Lucy and Tom's Day in 1960. Since then she has illustrated over two hundred children's books and is known as a champion of children's literature. Shirley Hughes has been awarded the Kate Greenaway medal, the prestigious Eleanor Farjeon Award and in 1999 she was honoured with an OBE for her distinguished services to Children's literature.
The Story
Alfie is very excited, he has been invited to his best friends birthday party and he has never been to a party before. Mum tells him all about parties how you take a present, games he would play and all about the delicious party food.
Alfie was a little nervous about the party especially when he realised Mum and Annie Rose (his baby Sister) would not be there. He decided to take his blanket and held...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Cruise TJ Hughes
Advantages: Bargains to be had
Disadvantages: Looks a bit scruffy
...Now owned by JJB Sports, TJ Hughes had its beginnings in Liverpool and has expanded to over 30 locations across the country.
It advertises itself as a ?Quality Discount Department Store? and I suspect that many people do not shop there because it is a discount store. But someone must be shopping there as they seem to be doing quite nicely.
They do indeed stock some quality brands and a lot of other recognised brands, examples include Dyson, Hoover Playtex, Triumph, Lee Cooper, Pierre Cardin.
As for discounts, it delivers. There are bargains to be had and I have picked them up in electrical goods and perfumes.
It also qualifies on being a department store and stocks; Ladieswear, Menswear, Household Goods, Electrical Goods, Cosmetics and Perfumes.
TJ Hughes is one of those stores I find it good to cruise occasionally. It...

Hughes Holding Nothing Back
Advantages: Well produced, clear message, feat. Brooke Fraser
Disadvantages: Dissapinting versions of the two best known songs
...Tim Hughes new album 'Holding Nothing Back' is a real testament to the Christian faith.
The opening track 'Happy Day' (well known to all Soul Survivor goers) is a positive message about the hope that Christian's have. Hughes includes two tracks 'Almighty God' and 'Be My Everything' which have already been out for a year or two now. These two songs have been changed from their original setting and for me this doesn't really come off.
The whole album is passionate about the Good News that Jesus brings and Hughes humbleness is portrayed throughout. 'Clinging to the Cross' is the finest example of this. His collaboration with Brooke Fraser in this track works a treat and this is arguably the song of the album.
This is a fantastic worship album and recommended to all Christians and those who want to discover more about...

Hugh Finally Writes It All
Advantages: It might convince you to produce more of your own food.
Disadvantages: You might like spending money at the supermarket.
...I was tempted into this book and it was an insidious process. "Would you like Hugh's recipe for Weeping Lamb?" "If you've got a glut of tomatoes I could let you have Hugh's recipe for tomato sauce." I gave in and Amazon supplied it for the very reasonable price of £12.50 as opposed to the £25 cover price for the hardback version.
Back in the nineteen nineties Hugh had the opportunity to rent River Cottage in Dorset and he took the property with the intention of using it at weekends. Once there he started growing a few vegetables for himself and his family. A couple of years later Channel Four gave him the opportunity to film at the cottage and he moved in on a full-time basis. This, in its turn meant that he was able to extend his food production and to keep animals.
It's perhaps misleading to call this a cookbook as that...

I've Been With Del Griffith...I Can Take Anything!!!
Advantages: One of all-time great comedies; Hughes' best with Martin & Candy making a great team
Disadvantages: Bonus features could have been improved; no commentary, no Martin
...? "Planes, Trains, And Automobiles" is a comedy classic and features great performances by Steve Martin and the late John Candy. After nine long years, Paramount is finally seeing fit to double-dip, but is really worth the upgrade?
N.Y. marketing executive Neal Page (Steve Martin, "The Pink Panther") has only one ambition: to get to Chicago to be with his wife and kids to celebrate Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, he?s finds himself stuck in Wichita, Kansas with a blabbering shower curtain ring salesman named Del Griffith (John Candy, "Uncle Buck"). At first, Neal finds Del crude and annoying, but eventually both begin to depend on each other to make it to Chicago. Neither realizes, however, that their journey together will yield both utter disaster and mutual understanding.
When John Hughes died in August 2009, he had been...

Advantages: A wonderful book for slightly older children, beautifully illustrated
Disadvantages: Some younger children may find it a little too emotional
... THE LION AND THE UNICORN
By
SHIRLEY HUGHES
Anybody who has had anything to do with children MUST have come across the wonderful Shirley Hughes.
She was born on the Wirral in 1927, she is an author and illustrator who has written over 50 books and illustrated over 200.
The first book she both wrote and illustrated, Lucy and Tom, a simple account of the children's day, was published in 1960.
But it wasn't until the 1970s that she began to publish regularly.
Her notable books include "Dogger", "Alfie"and "The Nursery Collection".
Her pictures are delightful and easily recognised as her work.
In fact the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool put on a display of her work in 2003.
In 1999 she was appointed OBE for services to children's literature.
The Lion and the Unicorn is a delightful...
