  Beware of "Strangers on a Train"

Advantages: Fabulous story, fabulous atmosphere and fabulous acting
Disadvantages: A very few irksome things but neglible

...Hull in Humberside was my home for five years whilst I did my undergraduate and graduate studies. I found this somewhat unfashionable city to be a very homely,friendly,much under-rated city. It is an exceptionally well planned city and has a nice mix of ultra-modern,offices and commercial buildings with attractive,historic buildings. The previous night we had stayed in the Innkeeper's Lodge at Chester (North East), the Hull Lodge was ideally situated for my business appointment at Brough. From previous experience we have found accommodation in Hull problematic, it is not a city exactly overflowing with a good choice of hotels and Bed and Breakfasts. ...It's coming up for the party season again so I have recently spent rather a lot of time making travel arrangements, one method of travel I seem to utilise rather alot these days comes in the shape of the West Coast Mainline, between Manchester/Stockport and London Euston, while in a previous life time I was very familiar with the Manchester/Edinburgh section of this same line, this route is operated by Virgin Trains and has been for several years. Thankfully these days the booking process is somewhat easier than it used to be, having to go in to the train station to book tickets I always found a somewhat draining experience as there was invariably a queue of people apparently wanting to purchase tickets for the next train due and only one counter open, now you can book online at one of several sites, my preference is virgins own, but...

...I hate public transport, always try to avoid it as much as possible and to be honest I have only ever caught a train once in my life and that was many years ago. I always tend to drive if I am going away on business or pleasure however this week I needed to take a trip to Worthing, Sussex and driving from Stoke to Worthing is a little bit of a trek or should I say getting on for 6 or 7 hours if you get stuck on the M25. I decided the easiest option would be to go by train which would reduce my travelling time by almost half. The journey on the train to Worthing is just under 4 hours, and that includes three changes so you get plenty of time to stop, stretch you legs and get something to eat.
