Current student at the university of Hull
Advantages: Great campus, very cheerful!!!!
Disadvantages: None so far
...I am in my third year at Hull University reading Business. I choose this University imparticular because of the close proximity to home and the wide rang of degrees and modules on offer.
I do not live in a rented house, it was that or a car and the car won! However, I have friends that do several have transferred from other uni's and say how much better the accommodation is in Hull and they are nice inside too!
If you do commute I recommend buying a parking permit, I do not live far enough away to. Car parking for those with no problem can be hit and miss, there is a small pay and display car park but only 50 or so spaces, the rest around the university is only 2 hour and those that are longer are gone by 9am. There are plenty of buses both to and from the university to Hull centre and to the Lawns, which is the university...

Friendly Hull University
Advantages: Friendly,compact campus,excellent library
Disadvantages: Hull is rather isolated
...My husband studied at the University of Hull both for his undergraduate and graduate degrees, whilst I spent one year doing a part time course in child psychology.
There are many favourable things concerning this very friendly University in Yorkshire. First of all the campus is quite attractive and compact,so it is easy to get around. It is located in the very pleasant Cottingham Road part of the city.
The cost of living in Hull is relatively low and I believe the rent for student residences are among the lowest in England.
I studied in the Faculty of Social Sciences, which is housed in a modern building, which is very well equipped, and I thoroughly enjoyed my course. The lecturer was outstanding and he brought in various external lecturers including a person who was skilled in hypnosis. The course was really very well...

Hull's not dull
Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: see text
...I've just completed my first year at the University of Hull after decided right at the last minute that I wanted to go to University. Right from the minute I phoned them to ask them if they had places, they were extremely friendly and unbelievably helpful - I received several phone calls from the languages department.
On arriving at the Lawns (the main halls of residence), there were loads of people everywhere guiding you to get your key and then to your hall and block. Aside from the Lawns (about 3 miles from University), there is also the option of staying in student houses, the Taylor Court flats (right next to the University) and traditional halls. It costs around £60 a week to live at the Lawns, but that also includes evening meals every day and electricity/heating costs. Before you arrive at University you can choose if you...

"It's been a 'Hull's days night"....
Advantages: Cheap, cheerful, lots to do
Disadvantages: Hostile / Odd locals (at times)
..."Hull" ? "Where's Hull" ? "Why Hull?" they said when I announced my decision to go 'up North' (from Essex) to study. Many people who have never been to Hull are put off by it's image of being a depressive, boring and deprived fishing town.
But there's more.................
My time in Hull:
I studied at for a BA (Honours) degree in Sociology at Hull University from September 1996 until June 1999 and graduated (feeling v pleased with myself) with a 2.1. However, I couldn't bring myself to leave and so stayed on and worked in the city until July 2000.
How to get the University of Hull:
By public transport-
Before I could afford a car I travelled to Hull by train from London using GNER. The GNER service connects Hull to all the major cities and towns in the East Yorkshire area and to the south (London) and up as far North...

Hull University....the best time ever.
Advantages: Cheap drinks/good nights out
Disadvantages: majority of accommodation is away from campus
...The University of Hull has been the best 4 months of my life. I'm in my first year at the University and love it! The University is rated top of the country in certain courses, with some of the best facilities around. It has the friendliest people, and the cheapest drinks.
The city is lovely, with enought shops to satisfy the biggest shopaholics! As for fish...what fish?!?!
Accommodation is particularly good, and cheap. There is a choice of on campus rooms, and those off campus, such as the Lawns, which consist of 1,500 students.
The Union is well managed, with a variety of social events set up, including star guests such as Jason Donovan for valentines. There are a many societies and clubs available for students which offer a wide range of activities.
I would recommend Hull university to everyone as the best place to...

Homely Hull
Advantages: Very friendly city. Well planned
Disadvantages: Rather isolated
...Hull in Humberside was my home for five years whilst I did my undergraduate and graduate studies. I found this somewhat unfashionable city to be a very homely, friendly, much under-rated city. It is an exceptionally well planned city and has a nice mix of ultra-modern,offices and commercial buildings with attractive, historic buildings. It is also a city with fine parks and outstanding shopping.
The maritime flavour of this historic port city has been enhanced with the construction of a magnificent marina. Then there is Queens'Gardens,a converted dock,in the city centre, which is a colourful, lovely, place for people to relax in. The city has a large number of lively pubs which ooze character and strangers always seem to be made welcome in this most welcoming of cities. The Old Town with streets such as "The Land of Green Ginger" is well worth...

THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IN THE HULL AREA?
Advantages: Clean and comfortable. Good Value For Money.
Disadvantages: Long Wet Walk From Check In to Lodge. View From Front Rooms
...WHY DID WE BOOK THE INNKEEPER'S LODGE - HULL?
In this instance it was a purely business decision. The previous night we had stayed in the Innkeeper's Lodge at Chester (North East), the Hull Lodge was ideally situated for my business appointment at Brough.
From previous experience we have found accommodation in Hull problematic, it is not a city exactly overflowing with a good choice of hotels and Bed and Breakfasts. We now use Innkeeper's Lodge's regularly in our travels and know that we can rely on the quality of the room and that the service offered is of a more than acceptable standard when compared to other lodge type hotels.
HOTEL DESCRIPTION / OUR PERCEPTION FROM HOTEL PUBLICITY
As with all of the Innkeeper's Lodges in which we have stayed, the Hull one is very well, and honestly, described, both in the new (2007...

Where dreams are made....and broken....Hull IVF Unit
Advantages: Wonderful, compassionate staff. Slightly above average success rates.
Disadvantages: Location. Lack of car parking.
...Having been through infertility, & subsequently IVF myself, I have read many other accounts relating to the journey of achieving something that most couples take for granted, but what at times can seem like the impossible ? a baby. I have gained so much insight from other people & have drawn strength from their stories, so I thought I would share mine & hopefully pass on some hope to other couples in similar situations.
There are many IVF reviews on here, so I thought I would try & cover the hospital at which I myself received treatment (the Hull IVF unit). Since treatment can vary from hospital to hospital, I hope this will be of use to couples planning treatment here. Firstly, a bit of background information to set the scene?
We began TTC (trying to conceive) back in September 2005. Although current guidelines state that...

Its never dull in Hull
Advantages: Very good standard of teaching
Disadvantages: Scary locals
...of a very good standard with a variety of lecturers.
The student union is lively with lots of social clubs - the radio station is brill - or was when I was there 95-98 anyway! There is a great opportunity to experience lots of different activities that you will never do after you leave, so take advantage!
You may think Hull is the arse end of nowhere, but you can get the ferry to Holland from there, and for two and a half years I loved it. Lots of people never leave after going to uni there, so that says something about the place.
Hull as a student is great - you won't regret going there and your bank balance certainly won't!...

A Universal experience
Advantages: Great rides, lots of fun
Disadvantages: Prices
...Yet another stop on my tour of Florida's theme parks with three of my friends was Universal Studios. Universal is linked to Islands of Adventure and we did both parks in one day due to limited time, although I'll review them separately.
LOCATION:
Universal Studios is in Orlando, Florida. As with most Orlando attractions it is fairly well signposted. You just need to get onto the I4, the main road through Orlando, and it is signposted off this. There is a ridiculous amount of parking available. Make sure you remember which character and which number you are parked in otherwise you'll be searching for that rental car for hours! Each section is named after a Universal character such as Spiderman, the Cat in the Hat and ET.
PRICES:
This is a theme park in Orlando so don't be expecting a cheap day out! You can buy lots...
