Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay,Nr Hurghada Egypt for total relaxation.

Advantages: Complete package to relax. Lovely beach. Clean resort (Makadi)
Disadvantages: No shops to walk around close by.

...HOTEL For our first stay in egypt we decided to stay at the Sunrise Royal Makadi resort at Makadi Bay in October 2009. This resort is situated about 40 minutes drive south of the main town of Hurghada and the airport. The Sunrise Royal Makadi comprises of many blocks of low level buildings spead across a large area divided by swimming pools and gardens. The resort is located right on it's own private beach which has it's own free sunbeds and parasols, also a free bar and a few shops, but not to many. ROOMS The room we ( 2 adults ) were allocated was in block 35 and consisted of firstly a room which had 2 single beds and a tv, then a row of fitted wardrobes and the bathroom with a large shower but no bath, then the main bedroom which had a queen sized bed, tv, table and chairs, then onto the balcony which looked over one...

Hurghada - The place to be!!

Advantages: friendly people, nice beach, beautiful hotel, weather
Disadvantages: hotel too out of the way, activities catered more for Germans

...I went to Hurghada in April 2006 and the weather was absolutley beautiful, although the sun is still really strong even in April. On my first day there i went exploring the hotel complex...and i didn't use any suntan lotion and i got burnt!! That was just walking about for a couple of hours. TIP Make sure you use sun lotion! I stayed outside the main town at the Coral Beach Rotana Resort which is along Safaga Road, this where a number of hotels are. Although there are a few shops at the hotel they are not that interesting and it is a mile walk to the next hotel along the strip, again the shops aren't that interesting. There are five restaurants to sample i only went in the main one as i was paying to go half board, I thourughly enjoyed the food. The restaurants were - Mermaid, Al zaeem cafe, Blue Moon, La tana Discotheque...

hurghada dive school

Advantages: good sites, cheap
Disadvantages: food can be a bit iffy

...I went to the Red sea to do my PADI and made hurghada my base. The school I used was OK and nursed me through the course 2 days in the classroom followed by the requisite dives and training This is a wonderful place to dive as the reefs are spectacular and the cost of the course is good The main dive locations can get busy in summer so i went in january and thius was better. we had some reefs to ourselfs!!! Egyptians are very friendly and always helpful and the bazzars are a good place to do abit of shopping too. You can find good cheap deals on the internet (try http://www.redseadivers.com) learn to dive now if you haven't. it will become the experience of a lifetime and the closest to an aliaen world you will ever get....

Excellent Hotel restored my faith in Egypt

Advantages: Staff were great
Disadvantages: none really

...Gardens is right next door and looks more estabilshed so if its cheaper stay there as you can use both hotels so save some cash. Highly recc trip to Hurghada Marina we got a minibus for 60epds (approx 8pds) return. Very classy and no hassle lovely to relax and watch the boats mooring we ate in the large Indian and food is 5*. Also booked snorkle trip to Paradise Island which was OK - heard one family paid £13 each and I had paid £30 booking online at home so maybe worth a trip to Hurghada to get £13 if family !! (£50 TC) Been to Luxor 10 yrs ago on Nile Cruise and a week in Luxor which was great and authentic, nothing prepared me for Sharm in xmas 2007 swore Id never go to Egypt again as I really disliked it especially Nama Bay , but our friends insisted on a easy Egypt and we picked Hurghada- good choice. ...Hurghada Review, I went to Hurghada last December with my husband on a week’s holiday. The week fell over the Christmas period, which allowed us to have Christmas day and the 4 proceeding days leading up to it on a dive boat experiencing the wonders of the red sea! I would recommend getting away from England over the Christmas period to any and everyone! Hurghada had it's bit's of tinsel and blow up papa noels hanging around, and many of the bar staff at various pubs had a token Santa hat, but that was as far as it went. No hassle, just the odd "happy Christmas" shouted to us across the street, as it was obvious we were westerners. We spent 5 days diving and 1-day quad biking and shopping in the markets. Driving through Hurghada my heart fell as, despite its location on the Red Sea, it seemed overcrowded, dirty and tacky. Given its proximity, I couldn't see how El Gouna could escape this. A twenty minute, twilight drive through a sandy landscape with mountains on the left, a sprawling windfarm and the Red Sea coast on the right, brought me to a checkpoint, manned by white-uniformed tourist police with guns. This was initially sinister but ultimately welcome as it meant only people who had a reason to be in El Gouna could get in (Tourists, residents and employees). World-class diving on our doorstep

Advantages: Good visibility, fairly cheap, huge range of destinations
Disadvantages: Boats can be crowded

It's predominantly wall diving between a few pinnacles - the classic dive is Anemone, Shark and Yolanda reefs - and if you're good on air, you can make it between all of them on one drift dive. The Yolanda is fairly unique in that the wreck itself that hit the reef has now fallen off into the depths, leaving a scattered cargo that mainly consists of toilets - a bizarre sight 20m down! The other famous site within reach of Sharm (as well as Hurghada across the Sinai) is the wreck of the Thistlegorm. This British ship was bombed in 1941 while carrying war supplies, and as such entails a facinating dive. Among the cargo weere a number of vehicles such as motorbikes, tanks and locomotives, many of which are easily visible today, although parts of the wreck are fallin apart and becoming dangerous.The wreck was recently closed...

CAIRO: Cairo (which has 1000 minarets) is the biggest city in Egypt and has approximately 15.000.000 citizens. I recommend a visit to the bazaar where you have to haggle very good. After a visit in the national museum you have the opportunity to view the world-famous pyramids of Gizeh. Above all the Cheops pyramid with a height of 164 metres is a highlight.
