...Hyde Park - Winter Wonderland 2007 At Christmas 2007, we decided to take the family to Hyde Park for the Winter Wonderland Experience. It had been very well advertised and the flyer portrayed an image similar to what you might expect in Austria or Germany during the festive season. The website looked impressive too, so how could we not go and enjoy the festive delights of London. Hyde Park is One of London's finest landscapes, covering 350 acres of park land. In the summer months, there is something for everyone with over 4,000 trees, a lake, Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, a meadow, horse rides, abundance of street entertainers and the obligatory ice cream van; it is easy to forget you're in the middle of London. Advantages: Outstanding Views, best hotel in London i've stayed at
Disadvantages: couldn't fault it

...I stayed at this Hotel last year, and have been to London 4 times since. Ive stayed in over 10 hotels in the capital and can honestly say this has been my favourite hotel. The views over Hyde Park were gorgeous and gave a lovely view of the london eye, and the flight path. The rooms were a good size and layed out well. It wasn't unclean at all. The staff were extremely helpful and went out their way to help you. The breakfast was gorgeous and provided a great choice. The hotel was close to the local tube station, and close to notting hill and shops. It was central to oxford street and all that London has to offer, without been slap bang in the middle. Only downfall i suppose ( the only one) was that it was upstairs to a petrol station yet it wasnt a problem for me. I would recommend this hotel 100% and enjoyed my stay....

...Hyde park was once a deer park for Henry the 8th when all that surrounded it was countryside, now just under half a millenium later the surrounding city doesn't hinder it's beauty. The size of the park is sufficient to get away from the fumes, hustle and bustle and noise of London city. If your visiting London for the first time Hyde park is a must, It goes with Big Ben, the tower of London and all things cockney. Hyde park is also a centre of sport and leisure, dogs are regularly walked (although the park rangers do a good job of keeping it clean!) It has its very own laid back atmosphere which is such a contrast to the surroundings....

Jekyll and Hyde?

...I recently walked past Hyde park at about 10:00pm, and was reminded of what a truly beautiful place it is. What makes it so special I think is its position - it is smack bang in the middle of the nicest area in London - right next to the Albert Hall (and the beautiful Albert Memorial), with views stretching to Parliament and the Hilton. It is also beautifully manicured and all the paths are perfectly smooth - a skater's dream. And, what's more, it's free - you don't have to pay any entrance fee or toll to get in, you just stroll through the gates and there you are. If you're in the area, check it out....

An Oasis in the desert

...When I was 16 years old, many years ago, I went to six form college just off High Street Kensington, and I lived in a youth hostel, just off Notting Hill Gate. To get to college from the hostel, I had the choice between taking a bus, the underground or walking. Having tested all three possibilities, I soon abandoned the first two for the third. It was actually faster to cross Kensington gardens than to take (and especially, to wait for) public transport, not to mention the visual appeal difference. Location, Location, Location

Advantages: Ideally located for most of London
Disadvantages: Limited evening eating.

...The Corus hotel is based at Lancaster Gate, London. Rather nicely it sits opposite Hyde Park which gives you an opportunity to spend some relaxing time of a morning or evening. Checking in As I arrived at my hotel (paid for by my company) I was quite pleasantly surprised, in the Lobby the walls are covered with a beige marble; this then turns to white paintwork. My initial impression was that the location was a bit fancy for a company placement. I was cheerfully greeted by Wee Wee and Wee Lee who took a lot of time and effort to explain the hotel facilities, the surrounding location and how easy it was to reach my room. This was by far the most professional reception I have ever received in a London hotel. The Room My room had a price tag of £89 per night which included a full English breakfast. My room number was 310...

London's Best!

Advantages: Lots of things to do and see, a nice break from the city
Disadvantages: The weather will definitely affect how good a time you have!

...Hyde Park ~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park is located, basically, in the middle of some of the busiest areas of London. Stepping through the gates magically transports you from the busy traffic, shops and rush of the city to lakes, long stretches of grass and trees and lots of wildlife! Getting There ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park covers a massive 350 acres and is therefore quite hard to miss! There are entrances to it all the way around. The Hyde Park website however states that the nearest rube stations are Lancaster Gate and Marble Arch (central line) and Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line). They advise against visiting by car due to limited parking spaces - in my opinion you should drive in London as little as possible! What is there to do? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ If you have children they will adore the park...

Corus Magnificus

...When I decided on a short break down to London, I was totally stumped on somewhere to stay that was really close to the main attractions and also steered by the price. The Corus Hotel Hyde Park looked to be in an ideal location just 5 minutes walk from Lancaster Gate Tube station (100 yards)and 15 minutes away from Heathrow Airport where I had flown into perfect I thought. This hotel overlooks the infamous Hyde Park, hence the name and was only 3 stops from shoppers paradise. As you approach the hotel you firstly spot the restaurant which is located at the front, you need to walk past this and turn right at the corner of the building to enter the reception, here you are greeted by two members of staff on the reception and there is also a concierge on hand to assist you with your bags. Check-in process was really simple...
