Thistle Hyde Park, London

Advantages: Outstanding Views, best hotel in London i've stayed at
Disadvantages: couldn't fault it

...I stayed at this Hotel last year, and have been to London 4 times since. Ive stayed in over 10 hotels in the capital and can honestly say this has been my favourite hotel. The views over Hyde Park were gorgeous and gave a lovely view of the london eye, and the flight path. The rooms were a good size and layed out well. It wasn't unclean at all. The staff were extremely helpful and went out their way to help you. The breakfast was gorgeous and provided a great choice. The hotel was close to the local tube station, and close to notting hill and shops. It was central to oxford street and all that London has to offer, without been slap bang in the middle. Only downfall i suppose ( the only one) was that it was upstairs to a petrol station yet it wasnt a problem for me. I would recommend this hotel 100% and enjoyed my stay....

London's Best!

Advantages: Lots of things to do and see, a nice break from the city
Disadvantages: The weather will definitely affect how good a time you have!

...Hyde Park ~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park is located, basically, in the middle of some of the busiest areas of London. Stepping through the gates magically transports you from the busy traffic, shops and rush of the city to lakes, long stretches of grass and trees and lots of wildlife! Getting There ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park covers a massive 350 acres and is therefore quite hard to miss! There are entrances to it all the way around. The Hyde Park website however states that the nearest rube stations are Lancaster Gate and Marble Arch (central line) and Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line). They advise against visiting by car due to limited parking spaces - in my opinion you should drive in London as little as possible! What is there to do? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ If you have children they will adore the park...

HYDE PARKS OWN WINTER WONDERLAND

Advantages: Pretty Lights, right on top of the tune station, the aroma of wine!
Disadvantages: Expensive, crowded, too dark, too far.

It had been very well advertised and the flyer portrayed an image similar to what you might expect in Austria or Germany during the festive season. ...Hyde park was once a deer park for Henry the 8th when all that surrounded it was countryside, now just under half a millenium later the surrounding city doesn't hinder it's beauty. The size of the park is sufficient to get away from the fumes, hustle and bustle and noise of London city. If your visiting London for the first time Hyde park is a must, It goes with Big Ben, the tower of London and all things cockney. Hyde park is also a centre of sport and leisure, dogs are regularly walked (although the park rangers do a good job of keeping it clean!) It has its very own laid back atmosphere which is such a contrast to the surroundings....

Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel!

Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast

...The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far didn't complain once. Although we ate at the hotel we also sampled London's China Town. It is a four star hotel and lives up to the standard. It is situated close to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. The hotel does not allow smoking anywhere near the building which my mum and I really appreciated because we are both none smokers. The smoking ban made...

...as cultivated and elaborated gardens. It covers, in all, 142 hectares with over 4,000 trees. The most common activities within the park are walking, dog walking, roller skating, pigeon/duck feeding, rowing, horse riding, playgrounds, cycling, students revising, homeless people sleeping on the benches or sunbathers etc. Occasionally a concert is given in the park, and the lakes (there is also a second small lake called the Round Pond) attract wildfowl whom are protected from country side hunters. To get to Hyde Park there are many entrances. Location, Location, Location

Advantages: Ideally located for most of London

...The Corus hotel is based at Lancaster Gate, London. Rather nicely it sits opposite Hyde Park which gives you an opportunity to spend some relaxing time of a morning or evening. Checking in As I arrived at my hotel (paid for by my company) I was quite pleasantly surprised, in the Lobby the walls are covered with a beige marble; this then turns to white paintwork. My initial impression was that the location was a bit fancy for a company placement. I was cheerfully greeted by Wee Wee and Wee Lee who took a lot of time and effort to explain the hotel facilities, the surrounding location and how easy it was to reach my room. This was by far the most professional reception I have ever received in a London hotel. The Room My room had a price tag of £89 per night which included a full English breakfast. Jekyll and Hyde?

Advantages: Beautiful views, beautiful park

...I recently walked past Hyde park at about 10:00pm, and was reminded of what a truly beautiful place it is. What makes it so special I think is its position - it is smack bang in the middle of the nicest area in London - right next to the Albert Hall (and the beautiful Albert Memorial), with views stretching to Parliament and the Hilton. It is also beautifully manicured and all the paths are perfectly smooth - a skater's dream. And, what's more, it's free - you don't have to pay any entrance fee or toll to get in, you just stroll through the gates and there you are. If you're in the area, check it out....
