Windows 7 - The Best OS Yet!

Advantages: Great new toolbar, excellent personalisation, overall brilliant design
Disadvantages: Really similar to Vista.

...In July, I downloaded the Release Candidate of Windows 7 to evaluate the new operating system and I have to say it's the best version of Windows yet! It surpasses Vista in every way. Windows 7 is not available yet but I'm encouraging all Vista uers to upgrade in October as soon as the software is released. In the rest of my review I will outline some of the key features. For starters, the toolbar has been changed dramatically. In previous versions of windows, the active windows (i.e. open programs and applications) would appear seperately as tabs with the symbols and titles of the programs (with the option to group similar windows together under one tab, such as all the internet explorers open). Windows 7 - a great operating system.

Advantages: looks great, easy to use, nice new taskbar, high compatibility
Disadvantages: cost is still high

...I recently upgraded from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate. I had not minded Windows Vista as much as other people; my computer has a 2.13GHz dual core processor and 4GB of RAM. Windows 7 doesn't actually seem to be any faster, but it has some better features and is overall easier to use. It took about 2 hours to upgrade, which isn't bad but it's not amazingly fast. It runs all of my programs that ran under Vista no problem, and some of my hardware is actually now supported that wasn't supported in Vista. I haven't found anything that doesn't work after upgrading. I still recommend that you run the "Windows 7 upgrade advisor" first just to make sure. The new taskbar looks a bit different, but don't be worried, you'll get used to it, and once you do you'll find out that it's a big improvement. Programs no longer have text, just...

Windows 7 - it makes Vista look like a beta

Advantages: smooth, quick, easy to install and use, pretty to look at, simplified for the masses
Disadvantages: Vista should have been like this - Microsoft robbed us!

Windows 7: Is what Microsoft is saying really true?

Advantages: Runs really fast, Some very good features, any decent machine can run it.
Disadvantages: The Price. It looks like vista and it really is just a brush up on the old OS

But is it really better, below is my review of a few sections which I believe is most important and compare it to older versions. Speed: 9/10 Much faster than Vista. To compare with the Vista OS, on Vista it took around 30 secs to 45 secs to boot up and log me in. Now on Windows 7 it takes 20 - 30 secs to boot up. Shut down is also so much faster. Panasonic Lumix FS7

Hyper Pen , do you need it

Advantages: Great for drawing in art programmes

...I have owned an Aiptek HyperPen6000 for about 2 months now, and bought it online for the bargain price of £24.99 (including delivery). The Hyper Pen comprises a pressure sensitive pad, a cordless pen (which functions like a mouse) and mouse to use in conjunction with the pad, and various software packages. Installation was quick and easy, and the software provided (Corel Art dabler 2.1 and pensoft) is excellent. Art dabbler has excellent tutorials that I would recomend doing as the functions are not always clear, and there is much more to be gained from the programme than first appears obvious. You can still use your keyboard and normal mouse whilst having the hyper pen also active which I find useful as the mouse provided doesnt have a scroll wheel, and the pen is difficult to use for browsing and scrolling down pages...

I was sent a leaflet in the mail,and got the Hyper Pen opn a special offer - £34.99 including all the handwriting software, cordless mouse and some extra bonus software. The Hyper Pen is a very useful gadget. you can use the pen as a usual mouse, or you can use it as a writing pen, where word will convert the writing to text. It does take a little while to get used to the pen as opposed to the mouse, but it's advantages far outweighs any bad points. You can set up 12 'shortcuts' on the pad (labelled F1 to F12), and when you touch them with the pen your selected program will open.
