hyundai accent 1.5 MVI fantastic!!

Advantages: sporty look, fun to drive, cheap to insure
Disadvantages: electrics can go wrong, underrated!

...this car is fantastic! after searching for months for the car i wanted i fell in love with a hyundai accent 1.5 MVI. its got so many good points! firstly the only way i can describe the drive is fun! a 1.5 MVI dual overhead cam engine in a big small car! its so fun to drive its unbelieveable. change gear at the right times and you'll suprised at the intial accleration from them! not to forget the shorter change gearbox for quicker gear changes and the fun learning to drive round roundabouts, i still havent conquered this one yet! i will warn you though that the indicators and windscreen wiper controls are opposite as the cars from japan, it took me a little while to get used to this much to the amusement of other drivers while i sprayed my windscreen and wiped them to let people out at junctions! another thing is to make sure that...

Practice Makes An Almost Perfect Accent

Advantages: Newer models are more comfortable and reliable
Disadvantages: Still not as comfortable as any of the French cars

I'm scottish with a Korean Accent.

Advantages: Spacious and good looking exterior. Also good handling.
Disadvantages: Interior is a bit shoddy!!!

ascend with the accent

  The long and the (very) short: Hyundai's newest model

Advantages: Cheap purchase price, low running costs, ideal in urban areas, comfortable, 5 year warranty
Disadvantages: Not in the slightest prestigious, looks that aren't to everyone's taste

Cheap but not so cheerful

Advantages: Cheap to buy and insure, reliable.
Disadvantages: Very basic and poor handling.

...The particluar model I am reviewing is the Hyundai Accent Coupe 1.3i 1998(S) which is the older style with the more rounded look. I personally prefer the look of these to the newer style but that's just a matter of taste. I bought my Hyundai Accent 6 years ago when it was 3 years old. My father was the previous owner so the car has been in the family since it was new. To be fair, this has been a very reliable car. It hasn't failed to start once in all it's life (touch wood!) and has only broken down once in 9 years when a heat guard from the engine came loose and fell against the radiator causing the car to overheat. OK the heat guard shouldn't have fallen off but these things happen occasionally and where it fell was more bad luck than anything. ...<rant> I currently own a Hyundai Coupe 1.6 (see the review on the Ciao site). My car recently went in for a service so I had the misfortune of a Hyundai Accent MVi as a courtesy car. While my Coupe isn?t the most luxurious and awe-inspiring car on the road, the Accent MVi really left my feeling like I was driving an old Lada! On the plus side the car had a fairly good acceleration up to 50 mph, however when I got the car on the M62 and started to drive at 70 mph (no more honest;-) ) the whole vehicle started to shake. My journey to Leeds was one hell of a boneshaker! Somebody definitely needs to take a look at the suspension on this model. Another side affect of this poor suspension is the horrendous noise that roars through the flimsy chassis. The interior of the car is undeniably cheap, from the chrome effect plastic facia...

Well worth the 11 or 12 grand.

Advantages: Amazingly cheap for what you get.
Disadvantages: Electric window switches in middle of car.

...I bought my Hyundai Accent MVi in October 1998. It was the lovely "vivid yellow" colour which drew me to the car - which was extremely different until the Micra, Punto and Megane all came out in yellow! The spoiler on the back with built-in brake-light not only looks excellent, but is a great security feature (now nearly every new car comes with a high level brake light!). The MVi has excellent brakes (twin disk front brakes) and corners and handles well on the road, even in the wet. I used to have a Micra SuperS and thought the Micra was superb - the MVi handles just as well and is a bigger car! The 1.5 engine has more than enough power - I had a 1.3 Micra (SuperS), and a 1.4 Fiesta (Si), and the MVi feels more responsive than these two cars (the only two I can compare against!) and the MVi is bigger.
