...- surely apples go brown if left when you slice them? Anyway, the only other option in these services to this extortionate place is Burger King - and let's just say I'm not a fan. There's also a fairly standard shop in the services, selling newspapers, magazines, sweets etc. That was OK - nothing worthy of comment really. There are also toilets and baby changing facilities, but we made the mistake of using these the ones at the petrol forecourt - more of which later. Next stop was the services' petrol station - again very expensive, but with the added attraction of the rudest staff I've ever encountered! When I asked for a receipt, I was glared at as though I was completely mad and had to repeat myself before I was given said receipt, accompanied by a sigh of derision. The worst bit of all though was the forecourt toilets - disgusting...

A refuge from the M1..Woolley Edge services

Advantages: you know what to expect, somewhere to stop if you are tired
Disadvantages: expensive food

...We stopped here becasue we'd been stuck in traffic after a motorway accident on the intersection of M62 and M1, and we needed to take a break becasue we were frazzled- forgot I had air conditioning! I knew that there was a service station between junctions 39 and 38 southbound on the M1 so we headed there. Easy to follow signs to the car park- with words and symbols so you'd understand even if you didn't speak English. FACILITIES Shop- newspapers, sweets, books, music, drinks, sandwiches, greetings cards and gifts..they were selling the Harry Potter latest book on Saturday but I wouldn't pay £16.99 for it! Some people were, though. Food can be a bit expensive and so can the sweets but if you have to buy them, it serves you right for not planning in advance!!! T2 phone shop- selling mobile phones and accessories. Good value...

  The Apple Of My i

Advantages: Full Internet, Massive storage, Great design, Superb battery life.
Disadvantages: The Megapixel of the camera is put to shame by other phones available.

...I had been waiting for this day for some time. My 18 month contract with T-Mobile is coming up for renewal next week, however having had problems gaining reception in my area I'd opted to look elsewhere for a new contract. A few weeks back my problems were solved when I was shopping around to try and find the best mobile contract, and discovered that O2 would be stocking the Apple iPhone as of November the 9th. Not only was I looking for a new mobile contract, but also a replacement MP3 player so the Apple iPhone seemed ideal. I made plans to purchase the iPhone and on the evening of release made my way down to the nearest O2 store upon finishing work, bagging myself my very own iPhone at a price of £269. Although the price did seem a little steep, especially considering that I would be paying out a further £35 a month for the contract...

make the most of your ipod with the iStation

Advantages: portable, charges while you listen, smart
Disadvantages: none

...the port at the bottom of the ipod (where you put a USB cable in) and it plays songs straight from your ipod through the speakers. Brilliant! I have a case on my ipod video that makes it more bulky so it doesnt actually fit in the holder, but you can interchange them depending on what ipod you are listening to so I just take it out completely and sit it directly on the connection- no problems there. The Istation keeps it simple with just 4 buttons on the front- allo that's needed. There is a power button, volume up and down buttons and a "3d" button that alters the sound, (i think maybe turning on the subwoofer at the back? Not particularly sure or bothered as it sounds great either way!) Sound: There are two smaller speakers at the side of the iStation and a larger subwoofer that lays horizontal at the back, adding to the good...

...The Apple iPod Radio Remote is a very convenient product for the iPod as it is a "plug and play" type of product. By this i mean that the user plugs the iPod radio remote into the iPod, from there the user has to select radio from the menu on the iPod. I have to admit that i am don't always listen to the radio but this iPod accessory needed to be purchased and its pretty easy to naviagate and to tune the radio remote in you have to go to the colour display. You can easily set favourite stations and with the remote accessory you can easily switch between different stations. With my iPod I am happy with switch between stations without the remote but it is easlier to switch with the wired remote and it is a good addition to my iPod because videos, music, volumme can all be controled with the remote. M1 Toddington Moto services - Southbound

Advantages: Great facilities for babies and kids
Disadvantages: High prices

...Had the pleasure of stopping at the Toddington services on the Southbound M1 on 18th May, 2004. It was about 1pm and the car park was around half full so no problems parking. Nice touch at the entrance to the building was the Pet Station with bowls of water and dog biscuits for the canine guests. Only guide dogs are allowed into the building but there was a small grassed area at the side where dogs could stretch their legs and do what dogs do best. Firstly and definitely most important - toilets. Can't speak for the gents but the ladies were spotless. I'd even be happy to take my granny in there. A lady was busy scrubbing the sinks while I was in there. Clean toilets, nice hot water, full soap dispensers and hand driers that worked. Thumbs up so far. Usual concessions in the building: a small Thorntons, a Birthday card shop...

...iPhone. The greatest device since GSM was first created? Yes and No. I've had the iPhone for just over 4 months and I have mixed feelings over the device. I used ZiPhone to unlock mine from AT&T in the US for use in Ireland. Out of the box the iPhone is intruative (It has to be as a Manual is not included in the box). The box included a small quick start guide, a headset and the various connectors. Set up with iTune is a breeze even for a newbie. The Home Screen on the iPhone differs from most WIndows based Smart devices as a simple press closes the running program down. I own a HTC Touch aswell and found it much easier to upgrade and customise than the iPhone. iPhone I like

Advantages: Modern technology, amount of software and number of devices.

I bought mine on the 19th November for £269. This seems expensive but you get a digital camera, ipod and phone all rolled in to one with iphone + internet browsing and e-mail capability, also included are elements of a personal organiser (diary and notepad). The iPhone Masterpiece

Advantages: Visual beauty, ipod perfection, photo demon, movies screen, internet anywhere! PERFECT!
Disadvantages: cost and network locking (easily overcome) and ringtones (overcome aswell)

...is fast, smooth, and great fun. My phone is hacked, so i dont have the upgrade yet, but all the applications added are clever, and work excellently. The ringtone buying is a joke, just download the ringtone program and add them for free. The at&t contract will cost you a hell of alot of money over the year, even more in the uk o2 service. I have mine on vodafone because i find them easier than o2. The phone is a little heavy, but very small. It has a 2mp camera which doesnt have a flash, kinda annoying but takes very clear large photos, with the 3.5" screen as you viewer, it brings photos to life. The photo viewer is an awesome application, easily flicking through you photos in their perfect visual beauty. Overall this phone is amazing.
