Ibanez RG370DX - the all rounder guitar

... Ibanez RG370DX I bought this guitar around 3 months after starting to learn how to play the instrument on a guitar borrowed by a friend. I went to my local music store and played a few guitars in my price range to see what one I liked the most. The Ibanez RG370DX stuck out the most. In my opinion it feels so nice to play - the neck is smooth, the action is not too low and not too high, it is just right. I use the guitar with 9 gauge Roto Sound Orange strings, and I get a really nice sound out the instrument. The guitar is very well contstructed, it is very durable and takes a bit of a beating. It also looks amazing in my opinion, and sounds just as good as it looks, if not better! Great Guitar by Ibanez!! very SGish!!

Advantages: Great weight, tone and price
Disadvantages: maybe too heavy for some

...I purchased the Ibanez AX320T a few years back and this guitar still surprises me everytime i pick it up. When i went looking for a guitar to buy i was looking for something that felt similar to my old Gibson SG but not at the same price as at the time i didn't have the funds. I looked at the range of guitars in the same price range and so many of them felt too light (Cheap wood) and a bit amatuarish, even one of the PRS's felt cheap! then i spotted the Ibanez. First thing i noticed was that it looked similar and then found out the sound when i plugged it in! Pure Classic Rock tone oozed out of it! :) I'm pretty sure its a mahogany body which explains the nice weighty feel and the pickups are nice and beefy like the SG but also i was surprised to find you can also get a slight strat tone!! Guitar Hero D.S (Disappointing Seriously)

...I bought this game with a great deal of excitement as I love the Guitar Hero games for the playstation and the Xbox. However Guitar Hero D.S didnt really give me the challenge or the thrill that I normally get from playing these games. So What Went Wrong? The first thing I noticed that was disappointing about this game was the fact that there was only four buttons to play with instead of the usual five on the other consoles. This made gameplay a lot more dull and not as challenging as the other games. The next thing I faulted with this game is that the DS does not have a great sound capability so the songs cannot be played loudly to give you that 'guitar hero feeling' that you receive much more with the other games on the other consoles. The game is around the same price as the other guitar hero games for other consoles...

...noises it makes as I slide my fingers expertly up the neck. Cool - sounds like slightly gynaecological porn. Anyway, I am banished to the garage to sing badly to a vague tune. Sacrifice it truly was. It would be on a par with me buying her a megaphone and a period for her birthday. My own suffering would be on a biblical scale. The upshot is that I love my guitar. It would be my 'Desert island Disc'. I want to be buried with it. And that is genuinely for sentimental reasons. In general ------------- I'm not a guitar buff. Some guitary folk talk about guitars in terms of 'bass tones' and 'rough bottom ends'. Oh wait, that's shepherds. They know about 'nuances' and detail. I don't and I suspect neither do you so I won't go on much about the sound. It's frankly a bit of a dull subject. Ibanez are a well known brand in the guitar world...

Ibanez RG270DX - Excellent, in a bland sort of way

...The RG270DX is another of Ibanez's seemingly unlimited supply of quality guitars. Not much differs from this baby to its brethren, except for one or two small features. I bought the guitar from my music shop 2 days after it came in, and like all Ibanez guitars, it impressed. However, I found myself bored and underwhelmed with the guitar, and exchanged it for a Yamaha Pacifica 3 days later. The look is classic Ibanez - Super Strat design with rediculously sharp contours and a great, sporty looking neck. There are many different paint jobs to choose from, black and metallic dark blue included No Ibanez is bad. That said, not many Ibanez guitars are truly great. This guitar falls into the category in the middle, the "Fine" category, where the guitar will please to no end but won't make you scream with pleasure. I find all too often...

Fender Classic '50s Stratocaster

...about Mexican Fenders but I have no complaints about any of the components here nor the craftsmanship. There were no loose parts and the gloss finish on the neck is perfect. The vintage tuners in particular are very good. Fair enough, I had to spend half an hour setting the intonation and getting the action set to my preferred height but that would be true of most guitars. It also pays dividends to experiment with pickup heights to achieve "that" sound and get things balanced. Close examination did reveal a slightly less than perfectly even finish on the polyester paint but that's only when you keep tilting your head close up. I am nit picking here. The one thing I really didn't like about the guitar was the single ply white scratchplate. Although this replicates the original '50s model I thought it looked very cheap (it was also only...

You'll have to bare with me on this one cause ive got to get back into the swing of things. As with every guitar, the Iceman has a history. Hoshino Gakki, the developer of the Iceman, wanted to make a distinctly Japanese looking guitar, as, before this time, Ibanez had been making replica copies of Fender Strats and Gibson Les Pauls and such. So after a meeting between Ibanez, and another guitar manufacturer, Greco, the "Iceman" design was born. Ibanez got the distributing rights for outside of Japan, and Greco for in Japan. Thats pretty much the history. So now for the guitar itself!! I picked it up second hand from ebay for about 350 quid, although you can buy them new nowadays for anywhere between 420 and 470...

A Great Guitar

...I got this guitar a few months ago at the price of 400 pounds with a free Ibanez hard case - and I have to say I'm very pleased with it. It has two humbucking pick ups in the bridge and neck position and a single coil pickup in the middle, which gives it a large variety of sounds. It was 24 frets plus a Floyd Rose Tremolo system. One of the first things you notice when playing this guitar is it's incredibly thin neck, which I think is standard for most Ibanez guitars (?). People's opinion on the thin neck may vary but personally I think it makes playing a little easier, although this could just be placebo. This is also a very attractive guitar.
