Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Westcorner

...We chose the Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Westcorner for a weekend trip to Amsterdam. The Hotel Ibis Westcorner is located in Westpoort, to the north-west of the city centre. Because of this it probably isn't too popular with tourists who prefer central locations. However, it is very easy to get to - just take the train to Sloterdjik station, 6 minutes and one stop away from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Almost every train west from Amsterdam stops there, so you can get back late at night without any problems, and it's also relatively cheap, at under 2 Euros one-way. There is also a bus, but we didn't try it. Actually, we found the tyrain station by trial and error - when we asked the hotel staff how to get in to the centre, they didn't even mention it, and we had trouble navigating to it from the hotel, as Westpoort is a district of tall...

...I stayed at the Ibis Stopera in Amsterdam in April 2006 with two friends and would definitely recommend it for anyone who it looking for a budget hotel that can be relied on. For anyone who hasn't stayed in an Ibis hotel before I would describe them as a superior travelodge. In other words, no matter which one you go to, you generally know what you're getting. Always clean and a good service. There was also a bar. For three girls on a budget the Ibis Stopera was perfect as they have triple rooms available, this made it a very reasonable rate when split between the three of us - and this included breakfast (which was very nice). ...On our latest European city visit, we decided to stay at the Ibis Wescorner. It was well located outside the bustling city centre in the Transformatorweg of Amsterdam Sloterdijk. It was walking distance from the main train station, however we walked around for 15 odd minutes before we saw signs giving us the proper directions to the hotel. The directions we printed off the hotel website were not too clear, however we asked a couple people who pointed us in the right direction. There was also a bus stop conveniently located outside which we used to get into Amsterdam Centraal in just under 15 minutes. The service at the hotel was average for a hotel of that standard, although we were able to purchase bus passes in the lobby for around £10. ...OK so there is another review, I know. Here's mine. The hotel is very conveniently located about a 10 minute walk from Amsterdam CS (central station), just off the SE corner of Dam Square. Just look up as you enter the square - you cannot miss the Rho sign. Our room was on the second floor and as a result somewhat noisy at night. (It was locals too, not tourists, making the noise!!) Our friends were on the top floor and had a much nicer and quieter room. Try to get top floor when you check in! The rooms were clean and light. Of reasonable size (our friends room was actually very large) and really quite comfortable. The staff were very friendly and of course (this being The Netherlands) English was spoken perfectly. 21st Amsterdam Hotel

Advantages: Mediocre location, cheap

...I went on holiday recently with a bunch of lads to celebrate our 21st Birthday....what we did in Amsterdam though for that is a different story xD However on browsing the internet we originally settled on a hotel which was said to be literally 1 minute walk away from the city centre. However due to some stairs being described as the 'Stairs of Death' We decided to upgrade to a 2* Hotel instead! On arrival in Amsterdam, we found a booth at the train station where you typed in the address of your hotel, and it located it for you and printed it along with tram lines and numbers to get, So we printed and thought with our luggage, oh that doesn't look far, we'll walk there. ...If you are ever considering a short break in Amsterdam I would highly recommend staying at Hotel MISC. My girlfriend and I stayed here in March for 4 nights and it was excellent! It is a 2 star hotel but I prefer this to a number of 4/5 star hotels I have stayed in. It is very homely and the owners Rachel and Pepijn are very accomadating and friendly. It was my birthday on one of the days we were there and Pepijn put a bottle of lovely sparkling wine outside our door as a surprise! When you book with hotel MISC they offer a taxi service that picks you up from Schipol airport and takes you to the hotel for 37.50EUR. This is a fixed price and cheaper than trying to get a taxi outside the airport. The taxi was an immaculate mercedes driven by a very friendly and helpful dutch guy. ...The Ibis hotel in Wellingborough in my opinion is a lovely hotel. It is located 2 km from the town centre and 2.5 km from the railway station It's also located just off the A45 to Northampton and M1 Junc 15 (approx 7 miles) making it ideally located for easy shopping trips. It's smashing for either weekday or weekend stays, very reasonably priced, and with the added bonus of events such the annual Drag racing events at Santa Pod and the Silverstone F1 Grand Prix race track, to mention but a couple. Close to numerous pubs, restaurants, with a Macdonalds within walking distance too, the hotel features a bar serving snacks 24 hours 7 days a week which was great, room service, free outdoor parking and a meeting room for seminars and conferences. ...In January I went to see Justin Timberlake in concert (again) this is my 3rd time. I and my Sister Lizzy (Hello love) didn?t want to travel home again after the exciting show so we decided to stay in a Hotel. We went looking for a Hotel and found the Ibis Hotel. It was fairly close to Piccadilly station which was very convenient for us. We went into the building and it all looked very nice. There was a bar and lots of tables and seating areas, and at the back of the entrance was the reception. We booked a room for 2 with no problems. The room cost £46.00 for the night which we found very good as we were splitting the cost. £46.00 is the standard rate for weekends. For week days it is still only £48.00. ...My wife and I stayed at the IBIS hotel in West Swindon last weekend as we were going to a friends 40th birthday party that evening and neither us fancied the lengthy drive home in the early hours of the morning. We booked in for 1 night, planning to arrive on Saturday afternoon and leave on Sunday morning. We chose the IBIS because we wanted a budget hotel and because it was located very close to where the party was being held.
