Rouen. A Picturesque City.

Advantages: A good piece of france with plenty of culture
Disadvantages: None really

...When the call came for me to play Ice Hockey in Rouen for NYPD on 10th January, I was somewhat confused. "Where is Rouen?" I knew it was in france somewhere but where? Let me tell you. Rouen is a town located in the Northwestern part of France and is the capital of Normandy. It sits alongside the Seine and is famous for its old world buildings, churches and cathedral. As well as this, it also has many cobbled streets around the town centre which retains its character with antiques shops and small french cafes and restaurants. How do you get there. Well, you have a couple of options. Firstly, there is an excellent Train Station in the middle of the town. The station or "Gare" is on a direct line from Paris and costs about 60 Euros for the journey which is just over an hour and a half. Alternatively, if you want to...

Ibis Sheffield - the heat is on, no it's off again!

Advantages: Good location, good value for money
Disadvantages: No additional facilties

...A low budget weekend getaway (thanks to National Express for the £1 each way offer!) called for a low cost hotel. I remembered someone saying that the Accor family member Etap now had a hotel in Sheffield but, situated by the Don Valley Stadium, it was a little too far out of town to be practical for such a short stay. As I am now the proud owner of an Accor hotels loyalty card I decided to check the Accor website and see if any other reasonably priced hotels presented themselves and this was how we came to choose the Ibis. I know this will sound strange to those readers who like a certain ?standard? of accommodation but I have rarely considered Ibis hotels because I?ve always thought them to be pricey; in any case I tend to look at hostel and bed and breakfast accommodation before I look at hotel options. We were quoted £49...

A night at the Ibis

Advantages: Service was great
Disadvantages: Room a bit small

...This past weekend I was lucky enough to have tickets to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, held at Albert Park in Melbourne. We had booked a 7.30am flight from Sydney and we landed in Melbourne at 8.45am bleary eyed but exited. The hotel is about 25 minutes way by coach from Melbourne's main airport, Tullamarine, and we pulled in at Southern Cross bus station which was a short 5 minute stroll to the hotel. It was too early to expect to get into our room at the Ibis but we were hoping they'd keep our luggage safe for is so we could get off to the track. When we arrived we explained what our plan was for the day and the receptionist was very helpful and accommodating, giving us a couple of options for luggage storage and checking us in so that we would have no hassle when we returned that evening. We went off and had a great day, not...

Typical Ibis

Advantages: The rooms and location
Disadvantages: Food, can not open windows

...There was a time when we had to travel by car quite a lot, especially in Italy, Spain and France. Since there was no specific route or time constrains we would find ourselves on the highways late at night and when getting tired you can not be so picky choosing the hotel. There were good experiences but some were just plain wrong. So the sign of an Ibis hotel was always like seeing an oasis in the middle of desert. Might not be the world's best hotel, but it was nice and comfortable and you knew exactly how your room it?s going to be like long before you set foot in it. Ibis is an international hotel chain, part of Accor. It has a number of 767 hotels worldwide, out of which 370 are in France and the majority of the other hotels in Europe. Usually, the hotels are situated in the vicinity of railway stations or airports. The first...

Ibis Graz - where the smoke gets up your nose

Advantages: Useful location for transport; clean comfortable
Disadvantages: Smoky lobby; over-priced if no offer available

...If like me you are the sort of person who prefers to stay in more moderate hotel accommodation in order to have more money to spend on things like eating out (or the purchasing of horrific souvenirs) you may be interested to know that to celebrate their 30th anniversary, some of the brands that fall under the Accor umbrella are offering a limited number of rooms at special rates this year. It does mean that you can't alter your reservation and won't qualify for a refund if you cancel but for those travellers who are willing to risk that, there are bargains to be had. In mid-June we are going to Hanover and have booked a double room in a very central Mercure hotel for just 39 Euro per night and have just stayed in the Ibis Graz, the subject of this review, for 59 Euro for a double room, a saving of some 20 Euro based on two people...

Ibis Paderborn (Germany)- Sehr Gut!

Advantages: Clean, Servicable, Friendly

...Welcome to my review on the Ibis hotel, Paderborn. Ibis. Ibis is a parent name for many franchises world wide. Each hotel is owned and run by individuals trading as Ibis, complying to the companies standards and ethics. Ibis has a base standard work line for all its hotels, and you will find a standardisation between all of them. Ibis - York

Advantages: Close to York center and attractions
Disadvantages: Basic hotel with basic features

...Arrived at the hotel at around 1pm on Friday 19th December. We eventually found the car park even though it was not sign posted at all (little side street to left of the Ibis and right behind the building). Giving the time of year we were relieved to find a space but there aren't many spaces at all so I suggest you arrive as early as you can. Once we got our very heavy case out of the car, we had to walk round the building again as there is no entry to the hotel from the car park which is very inconvenient. What is even worse is that there are steps up to the hotel and, with a case, it is extremely difficult to get it up them. There was a disabled lift next to the steps for wheelchairs but we had no way of operating it ourselves as a member of staff has to do it and there was no staff there. ~RECEPTION/CHECKING IN~ The reception...

The Ibis Hotel, Wellingborough, Northants

Advantages: Very welcoming staff. Pets welcomed. Disabled access
Disadvantages: None that i could see.

...The Ibis hotel in Wellingborough in my opinion is a lovely hotel. It is located 2 km from the town centre and 2.5 km from the railway station It's also located just off the A45 to Northampton and M1 Junc 15 (approx 7 miles) making it ideally located for easy shopping trips. It's smashing for either weekday or weekend stays, very reasonably priced, and with the added bonus of events such the annual Drag racing events at Santa Pod and the Silverstone F1 Grand Prix race track, to mention but a couple. Close to numerous pubs, restaurants, with a Macdonalds within walking distance too, the hotel features a bar serving snacks 24 hours 7 days a week which was great, room service, free outdoor parking and a meeting room for seminars and conferences. The hotel also has wireless Internet access which made working from my room a pleasure...

IBIS hotel - Swindon

Advantages: Cheap, easy to find, friendly helpful staff
Disadvantages: Needs refurbishing

...My wife and I stayed at the IBIS hotel in West Swindon last weekend as we were going to a friends 40th birthday party that evening and neither us fancied the lengthy drive home in the early hours of the morning. We booked in for 1 night, planning to arrive on Saturday afternoon and leave on Sunday morning. We chose the IBIS because we wanted a budget hotel and because it was located very close to where the party was being held. Also, we could book in anytime after mid-day and didn't have to vacate our room until mid-day either so we could have a lie-in after the party if we needed to. ~~ Booking ~~ As I had found this hotel using the web, it made sense to book the same way - this can be done from the IBIS website (www.ibishotels.com/ibis) quite easily and you receive...
