Power Cable? Simple? Not With Dell!
Review of Dell Power cable by
ReviewDude
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Breaks Easy
...So you've looked at the strange title and then seen that I'm reviewing a power cable! Now your wondering how I'm going to manage at least 120 words on a power cable. Well it's going to be easy seen as it's a......Dell.... power cable.
As fans of my reviews will know( do I have fans) I recently purchased a monitor from Dell. Well along with my monitor I got a basic package to run Office on because I do a lot of downloading and hate to slow the download down.
With my computer came a Dell power cable. Ok you can't really call it a Dell power cable but they do supply it so I'l blame them...
After unpacking my computer and plugging everything in I turned on the switch and..... well nothing. I checked all the wires and everything was plugged in so yet again I turned on the switch and.... well nothing again.
After inspecting...

Average Run Time: 5.5 min at full load
Manufacturer Warranty: 2 years warranty
2 Years Plus…
The UPS is still going strong, very few have problems, and a warranty checker is available at http://www.apc.com if you have any problems.
The only thing that does seem to show up about the two-year mark is the battery. Many of the UPS’s we have need the battery changing in about year 2 to 3. Having said that, 2 to 3 years is not bad for battery life! I can cope with that.
New batteries from APC can be on the expensive side (Around £35+VAT), but non...

Belkin Power Cable
Review of Belkin Components Power cable Power 3-pole by
coopsta133
Advantages: Works perfectly, Fits Snug, Lengthy enough
Disadvantages: None
...I bought this for plugging in my computer because the power supply I had to buy did not include one. There isn't much to say on a power cable so this is about all I could think of.
My main reasons for choosing this where because I knew Belkin is a very respectable brand for when it comes to electronic connector cables and its length suited my needs perfectly.
I found that the cable fits very snugly into the back of my computer so that when it gets knocked about for some reason (kicking from mad frustration during games :) ) then it does not fall out. It is easily strong enough to hold its own weight in so it doesn't pull itself out- which is a problem one of my crappy computer monitors was having. This caused me to buy a second one for my computer monitor as I was overall 100% pleased with this one. It has never failed me causing...

IBM X236 tower / rack server
Review of IBM eServer xSeries 236 8841 - Xeon 3 GHz by
goosey2
Advantages: Very versatile mid range server
Disadvantages: support web site can be awkward to navigate
.... This is because the rails are a little longer than the server to accomodate the cable management bars. The 5 1/4" bay that houses the CD ROM etc slides out and rotates through 90 degrees so you don't have to put CDs in on their side. The power leds transpose to a different location as does the power switch. Once this is complete you can click on the new facia, screw on the base and lid, put your rails into your cabinet and then drop the server onto the rails. Although it has two stabalizing wheels for the back and the front of the rail hooks into the rack clips on the server, I would definately reccomend two people to do the job as you need to screw four screws into each side of the server and need to support the weight whilst you do it.
With regard to hard drives I would normally build this server with a mirrored pair of 73GB U320 15Ks for the OS...

Cool machine, shame about the power cable
Review of Iomega Zip 250 MB USB Powered by
tigertom
Advantages: Portable, quick, easy to use, 250MB storage
Disadvantages: Annoying power cable!
...blue and it’s got grippy sides so you don’t drop it when playing rugby with it J
Now once you’ve set up the drive and its in use, it works fantastically creating a removable drive on your computer that you can treat like any other drive for each disc you put in. Which means you can plug in the drive and then be able to access your Zip disks for their information.
Setup
~~~~
But unfortunately getting it set-up is a bit of a pain, when you’ve finished scrabbling round the back of your computer to put in the parallel port and you’ve wiped all the spiders out of your hair. You then have to deal with the completely irritating Power cable. Which is about 3meters long and in two bits (WHY!). The first bit has the plug on it and some connector, which goes into the other cable, which has the power socket...
Power shooting G5
Review of Canon PowerShot G5 by
Rosassnaps
Advantages: Instant results,
Disadvantages: None
...of the four way wheel which is located above.
This four way wheel is also used for navigation in the various menus, to change exposure compensation and white balance.
White balance can be altered from
auto to daylight,
cloudy,
tungsten,
2 fluorescents,
flash
and 2 customs.
ON THE LEFT SIDE of the G5
you can see the speaker, which is above a plastic cover which protects 3 connection points.
‘DC in’ for the AC adapter, used for recharging the battery or for using the camera with mains power instead of battery;
Digital USB for transferring photos to computer, if you use this method instead of the much quicker method with a card reader;
and the AV out.
ON THE RIGHT SIDE of the camera,
is the Type 11 compact flash card slot, under quite a strong plastic door.
The IBM microdrives will also fit….I’ve used...
Nuclear Power and Homer Simpson.
Review of Do we need more nuclear power stations? by
buster_uk
Advantages: Its cheap, and if your a sadist fun and dangerous.
Disadvantages: Dangerous, Many Past Problems, possibilty of meltdowns
...What Is It and Who Controls it?
Well, Nuclear Power is created by the splitting and fusing of nuclear atoms (Uranium atoms etc). This process is to an extent safe when completed in the appropriate manner but although this part is safe the after effects are not always. Nuclear power plants in the U.K. are under the operational control of BNFL (British National FueLs) and are protected by the U.K.A.E.A.C. (United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority Constabulary) who are armed and have more arresting powers than any other Police Force in the U.K.. It is safe regarding security although I’m sure not as safe regarding the nuclear waste and materials.
Where is it Used/Processed?
Nuclear power is used in the U.K. by 11 powers plants from Bradwell in Essex to Trawsfynydd in North Wales, Gwynedd. Nuclear power is used over the U.K., in Wales...
Hiper Type R HPU-4R580 Power Supply Unit
Review of Hiper Type-R HPU-4R580 - power supply - 580 Watt by
Jon_Farrimond
Advantages: Modular power connectors, good design, solid build, designed in the UK.
Disadvantages: Large
.... The device is nearly silent under operating conditions however does continue to run its fans for a few seconds after shutdown. Furthermore the main power switch is red and has a light behind it. You just don't see attention to detail like that any more all you normally get is a feeble little black switch and to be honest given that this is a power carrying device one would expect a warning light when the device is powered.
The device uses two integrated fans, one of 120mm and one of 80mm, it is made from anodised Japanese steel, coming in many colours (in my case red) , it does come with and LED but then again who cares and it will happily connect to 4SATA (Serial ATA, a connection standard capable of upto 3Gb/s transfer speed) Hard drives and 8 other devices. Oh and allegedly all the cabling is reactive to UV light.
Overall the power...
