No Fun Ice Cream Maker

Advantages: I haven't thrown away the box so I can sell it
Disadvantages: It's messy, time consuming and not much fun

...Why is it that absent fathers always feel they have to spend far too much money on thoughtless, useless bits of plastic toy in order to make up to their children for the weeks and weeks that they haven’t seen them? Well, that’s what happened on my daughter Daisy’s birthday. I didn’t have a huge amount of money and I agonised for weeks about what she’d love the most. I finally decided to take her to the Bear Factory for her birthday gift and she chose to have a special bear made, which spoke with her own voice. Her father, who we haven’t seen for weeks, bought an overpriced bit of purple and pink plastic – the Food Fun Ice cream Maker. It costs about £20 and is available from most large toyshops. Advantages: Easy to clean and maintain. Automatic. Big capacity.

It comes with a good selection of ice cream and sorbets recipes for everyone's taste. It's easy to clean and maintain. No need to pre-freeze the bowl. Everything is automatic. You only need to add the ingredients to the bowl and let the ice cream maker do the rest. And here you are left with time to do other things in the kitchen or around the house. It has a capacity of 1.5 liters so plenty of ice cream for all the family and guests. This ice cream maker turns off automatically once the cycle is finished. The only disadvantage is that the compressor system can be a bit noisy while making the ice cream....

...I bought this about a year ago for the princely sum of £20 in a sale from a catalogue. I haven't seen this specific model for sale in shops recently but at the time I bought it, it was retailing for between £35-£40. Since we bought it, I?m surprised it hasn?t broken down (am I tempting fate?) as it?s been used and used. The ice cream maker is made up of six parts. The base or bowl into which fits the cooling container for making your ice cream. The container needs to be put into the freezer overnight (well for about 18 hours really) so that it is cold in preparation for making the ice cream. If there is any ice inside the container, scrape this off first as it will impede the stirrer from turning correctly. The stirrer, which does exactly as it says!! A diabetic ice cream that tastes brilliant!

...I will start by saying that, although I am a diabetic, I rarely buy ?diabetic? products as I know from the research done by Diabetes UK that they are generally not worth the money. It is usually better to eat the ?ordinary? equivalent but in moderation. In fact if you eat some diabetic products such as chocolate the sweeteners used in them can have a quite severe laxative effect as I have discovered to my cost! It is much better to eat a generally low fat, low sugar diet with an occasional treat. I have, however, tried vanilla ice cream that has been specially made for diabetics on a couple of occasions and found it to be white, watery, tasteless stuff so when I saw Franks Diabetic Ice Cream in the freezer at Tesco?s I was in two minds whether to even bother trying it to be honest.
