While I was working out at the gym burning away those calories from breakfast, I started thinking about the 10 top foods I could not live without, the 10 top foods I would take to a deserted island. This is what I have come up with. I will list them in reverse order of preference (though finding an order to put these in was very difficult!) Why I Go To Icelands

Advantages: Great range of frozen food, free delivery when spending £25
Disadvantages: Small, crowded, waiting at tills

...Although the town I live in is quite small, we are blessed with almost all the big supermarket chains, some of which I use more often than others. Icelands is one of those supermarkets, and the one I use to stock up my freezer. My local store is situated in a retail park a few minutes from Clacton town centre and a handy 5 minute walk from my home. Being on a retail park there's plenty of free parking with a bus stop literally a minutes walk from the entrance. While I have used other branches I'm going to focus on this particular store as it's the one I've used most recently. I don't use Icelands daily or even weekly, in fact I tend to go there about once a month when my freezer needs restocking. Advantages: Clearly written. Nice progression.
Disadvantages: Some tragedy but it all might end in something good, is that naive?

...A pleasant little film this one, not the greatest children's adventure film ever made, but a reasonable effort. Synopsis Nim is an 11 year old girl who lost her mother when she was a toddler. He father who's a writer and marine biologist told her she was swallowed by a blue whale which was on the run from a ship called the Buccaneer. Nim and her father Jack live on an island they discovered after sailing around the world for several years. They are the only inhabitants, unless you count a collection of animals which Nim has befriended, included a sealion, a bearded dragon and a pelican. ...What! Only 10 foods? Of all the MILLIONS/ BILLIONS of food products out there we can only pick 10? Well, I suppose you'd get bored by my 100th or so one..or tenth... In no particular order; let's begin 1. Fish -Smoked Haddock, Salmon, Cod, sea bass or tuna. Haddock is delcious in a pitta bread with scrambled egg or haselback potatoes. Salmon fillet is divine if you top it with mayo, crushed seasoned cornflakes with garlic and then drizzled with a cheese sauce. Smoked salmon slices mixed into mash with cheese spread! emm. And tuna, mix it with onion and some chutney to get fish fruity. Make your own fish pie or chop it up into an omelete. Fish is sooo nutritional, versatile and delcious. Not a fan of sardines, herring; trout and the lark, or with heads and eyes still on! Prawns - league of there own. Nice just out the pack...

Iceland - Free delivery!

Advantages: Fairly small easy to get around, lots of variety, cheaper bread!
Disadvantages: None really.

About 75% of Iceland's floor space is taken up by freezers and above the freezers are shelves with canned items in the first aisle, cereals & fizzy drinks in the second aisle and bread down the third aisle. There is a couple of freezers designated to each type of food: Weightwatchers, Roast Dinner Meats, Chips, Potatoes, Vegetables, Fish, Beef, Chicken, Lamb etc. There is a lot of choice and there are quite a few brand names as well as Iceland's own brand of products. I have used quite a few Iceland own brand products now and find their products (most of them anyway) to be very reasonably priced and to taste pretty nice. They often have offers on and they will have various wire baskets dotted down the aisles with biscuits, gravy, noodles etc which are often pretty good deals (3 packets of Bachelors noodles for £1.00 etc). ...The Blue Lagoon in Iceland is an experience that cannot really be described without being there first hand, but I will try no less to tell you about this lovely place. Location / Getting There ------------------------------ The Lagoon is based in the middle of nowhere in Iceland; it is about a 35-40 minute drive from Reykjavik via road, and is a short detour past Keflavik airport. The only way to the Lagoon is via road as I stated, there are regular departures from Reykjavik Excursions BSI bus terminal daily or there are other excursions from different tour operators. The actual Lagoon is literally in the middle of nowhere in the depths of the beautiful Icelandic landscape.
