ATA - I SAY NAY!

...We flew from Gatwick to Orlando on ATA in October 2000. Although the flights were ok the planes that we flew on where outdates and uncomfortable. To start with the planes were so old that they needed to refuel in Canada. The refuelling process requires all passengers to disembark (down steps into the cold Canadian weather) for safety purposes and then wait in a horrible terminal building for 45 minutes before getting back onto the same plane to carry on the journey. We left all of our belongings on the plan. This is not too bad if done during the day ? however, the return flight also requires that every passenger leave the plane. That?s no fun with three kids at one in the morning in the middle of October. Belkin IDE Lead the way :-)

Advantages: Makes your pc cooler
Disadvantages: Not much

...This cable is a good buy. There varied in colour also in price, depending where you buy them from. But really, when there inside your pc, is colour really that important? First of all, I owned earlier versions of this type of IDE cable from different manufacturers, at a higher price to. All but 1 no longer work, I came to the conclusion, the reason behind this was. When you plug the leads in & out, there was no support for the pulling or pushing. Once or twice this is not really an issue, but over time if you constantly change things in your pc, problems will happen. My issue was that, some of the cable had ether been stretched to much whilst unplugging or bent & snapped inside the rubber casing as I plug them in. Cheap, Loud, Hot, and Turbulent...Just Like Me

...American Trans Airlines (ATA) is one of the most budget of all the budget airlines in the USA. When my aunt went to Boston's Logan Airport to pick me up, she couldn't find ATA's monitors listing flight information... because they DON’T HAVE ANY in Logan! ATA also claims that their website has up-to-date flight info, but it doesn't. The baggage carousel was not labelled either, so we had to wander around a bit to figure out where my bag was going to be spit out. However, I shouldn't really complain too much since I arrived safely on four ATA flights, without having to shell out too much dough and with my luggage intact. ...I flew wit ATA from Aldergrove (NI) to Florida (USA) via Gander (Newfoundland)several years ago. I can now tell you what colour the ceiling is at Gander. The flight was a charter like most ATA flights. Also, like most ATA flights, it was late. Very Late! On the outward journey, it left several hours late. It was at Gander for an extra hour. Coming,. back it was one hour late leaving Florida. Nine hours late leaving Gander. Fortunately, we all got a very cold piece of toast each. The plane was old yet still managed to go the whole summer without being more than one and a half days late. The next week it was 36 hours late leaving Belfast. Now Belfast is not a very busy airport and "missing a slot" doesn't cause a delay. The only reason for the delay was the palne breaking down and bery poor punctuality. The Worst Airline Ever..

Disadvantages: Customer Service, Safety, To much stress!

...Worst Airlines Ever.... As the clerk at the airport in Las Vegas stated when our luggage from Maui had not come out on the turnabout in over an hour, What airline? ATA, oh there you go, you get what you pay for..with them. That is basically nothing. When we arrived at Vegas airport to leave for our Maui, Hawaii trip we found no clerks at the ATA counter and a sign that said they would arrive in 2 1/2 hours. All the other counters were busy with passengers getting their tickets. This was after a high alert was given on the news to arrive early. When they did arrive, I was first in line. A flight from Honolulu had arrived and it had been delayed 5 hours and they were all taken before me by 3 clerks. Not one clerk to help the others who were trying to leave for Hawaii. Safe & Secure

Advantages: Sturdy. Good Quality.
Disadvantages: Compatible with SecureConnect hard drives only.

...I recently bought one of these cables to connect my hard drive (also WD ? Western Digital) to my motherboard. I had never used SATA before and was only familiar with IDE cables ? the annoying thick ones that are a pain to connect. Unlike IDE cables, SATA leads can only be plugged in one way at both ends. This cable holds the power connection stable too. This cable can only really be used on Western Digital hard drives, but they are a leading manufacture and highly recommended. Both WD Raptor and WD Caviar SE Serial ATA drives use this unique connection, but there are also other SecureConnect compatible hard drives out there. Normally, this item is a rather dull grey flat "ribbon cable" with (usually, as far as i can remember) 3 unmarked connectors. An excellent IDE

Advantages: Easy to use, fast
Disadvantages: Full version is expensive

...Codewarrior is a great IDE (Integrated Development Environment), with a wonderful GUI. The actual text editor is superb, with indenting and syntax colouring which is all really obvious, and the project manager is great, easily separated into folders for resources, libraries, headers, source code etc. Compilation is a breeze, and can be done in stage or all at once, and the debugger is excellent, allowing you to step through the code line by line, ducking into other files as you choose, and editing the variables in use if you so please. The educational price is great, a mere £100, and it comes with about 10 books on CD to help you learn C and C++....
