...I'm not sure how I got started watching the home television shopping channels but I have been buying things from them for about 4 years now. I have bought from the bid up and price drop channels, QVC and just recently from Ideal World. Ideal World sells everything from craft goods, beauty products, garden tools, jewellery, clothes, shoes and many other great products for use around the home. They broadcast on free-view and paid for cable/satellite subscriptions. Each hour has a specific theme such as create and craft, pick of the day, gardening in style etc. Some of the presenters can be a little over the top and irritating at times, but 1 presenter is never on for more than an hour and they are usually joined by an expert in the field of whatever they are selling so you can ignore what they are saying and just focus...

...After 15 years my analogue TV was on its way out, rather than rush into a digital TV at great expense I decided to try a new analogue TV (with scart sockets) and a Phillips free view digital box. Not such an Ideal World

Advantages: Easy home shopping , some good prices
Disadvantages: Expensive premium rate phone charges , some goods poor quality

...Ideal World feels like the poor relation in terms of shopping channels . I have not seen many others only having access via Freeview but have found that Ideal World has a bit of a 'cheap' shop feel about it . It is located on Freeview channel 22 and can be viewed on-line also . The presenters are a bit of a smarmy bunch . They do not have any charming , natural appeal but rather seem forced and contrived . The channel sells a wide range of goods from clothes to computers to curtains to jewellery and much more . Each presentation or show lasts an hour . Occasionally there are two one hour shows for the same product in each successive show . ...The delivery service stinks,they now give you a track and trace system,which according to my account the goods should have been delivered last week,but the goods are still awaiting despatch,mind you they took the money from me last week,for a big company like that they should be able to offer you a good delivery service but they dont,i dont order from them a lot now because of the time somethings take to arrive,it is not their courier service that is the problem its IDEAL WORLD who cant get anything out on time,its expensive to call there customer service and quite frankly its a waste of your time trying to get anything out of them,thats if you can understand them or they can understand you,so if you want your goods quickly dont order from them.NOT SUCH AN IDEAL WORLD....

Wonderful (not) Ideal World!

Disadvantages: Desperately (&, I think, deliberately) poor customer service

...Have to say I agree with Ellenaitch. Ideal World have just about the worst customer service I have come across. I mostly order through Create and Craft. They can never get the Create & Craft Club discount right and the postage which should follow their multibuy policy doesn't. I have 3 times ordered clothing from them (I'm the supreme optimist!) which didn't appear but my account was debited. They wouldn't answer emails even though I get a "read receipt" for them and they refused to answer questions up front on the telephone but the promised return calls never materialised. I have discovered that if you threaten them with the Advertising Standards Agency which regulate this sort of business it tends to galvanise them into action and a refund appears in my account within a couple of days AND I get the postage back. Its Ideal!!

Advantages: Entertainment and shopping in one!
Disadvantages: none unless you dont like shopping!

...Ok I do work for this satellite shopping channel! But my opinions are totally unbiased, I work in the call centre, dealing with customer services and hotline orders. Ideal World are the big breakfast type show of home shopping channels. They are not trying to be another QVC or Shop, although they have 3 of QVC's presentors, Steve Watley, Paul Lavers, Debbie Flint. This is a fun channel, they try to make it entertaining, as well as trying to sell you the products, they even offer a 90 money back guarantee on their items if you are not happy. Still in its infancy only launching on 18th April of this year, the show has done very well. A few teething problems occured, but it is settling down to be a fun and different way of shopping. ...When 14 months old my Cyclone juicer, purchased from Ideal World, ceased working. I visited the Theolife web site and found it had a 2 year guarentee. I emailed them but had no response. So I rang Ideal World and explained that there was a 2 year guarentee. They arranged for the juicer to be picked up at my home, which it was 3 days later. Having heard nothing for several weeks I again rang Customer Services. This time I was left on hold for 15 minutes to be answered by someone who took and repeated all details, which took at least 10 minutes. I was told someone would contact me. ...I placed a order recently June the 1st to be precise from Ideal World to the value of a little over £70, for three skirts. After twenty days I still had not received the items so I phoned the call centre on the 20th of June 2007 to say I had not received the goods and they said they we would send out a claims form. A couple of days later nothing had arrived so I called again this now being Monday 25th June 2007, to be told our systems are not operating correctly if I could take some details one of our representatives will ring you back in 48 hours.
