...Having owned and used my Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-f/4.5 USM zoom lens for around 15 to 18 months I feel that it is in many ways, quite an exceptional lens. Effectively covering the versatile full-frame equivalent 16-35mm zoom lens, it is a valuable addition to anyone's kit. Being an EF-S lens (the 'S' standing for 'Short' back-focus), it is designed for use ONLY with cameras having APS-C size sensors. Don't attempt to fit one to a full-frame DSLR or 35mm SLR camera. Such lenses have reduced image circles and produce vignetting on full-frame or 35mm cameras. Furthermore, the rear lens element could get hit by the reflex mirror, causing serious damage. With a maximum aperture of f/3.5 at the widest end and f/4.5 at the more moderate end of the zoom range, the lens is not 'fast' by any stretch of the imagination. However...

The drive is very quiet and has Firewire 800 (IEEE) and USB2 interfaces making transferral of documents and program files rapid. In my case, my USB's are pretty old and the program warned that I would get better and faster transferral if I were to use a high speed USB, although I found that my existing USB socket was sufficient for my needs. DRAGGING AND DROPPING I found that small files like documents, music tracks and photographs could easily be transferred by dragging and dropping, although I found that the most effective way of moving programs was to move the installation zip files over to the external hard disc. I actually opened several programs to ensure that they were fully functional and was happy that the transfer had worked satisfactorily...

...I can honestly say that I really like this car. It's different from the rest in its range, if you can find anything comparable, but it's a bit like Marmite, in as much as you either love the look of the car or you hate it! As for the practicalities: the 3.5 engine (shared with the Nissan 350Z) is a beauty and is far more silky smooth and economical than advertised...if driven correctly. That is to say, if you want to drive it like the Nissan 350Z then it will perform like one (very quick off the mark for its size) and use fuel like one...but if you drive it sensibly, it will reward. I am getting around 26/29mpg in the winding country lanes where I live and about 32mpg on the motorway. External HDD a lifesaver

Advantages: Very portable, Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Extra plug socket needed

...straight forward, involving just taking the unit out of the box and plugging it in. The PC found it straight away on my XP machine, though an Installation disk is included (for other operating systems probably). There is also a CD of the Iomega Backup software, which is a very powerful program, which allows you to mirror any Hard Drive, Partition or even Folder and File on to the External. This software is so useful that we have now purchased another 4 of these units and use them as our main means of Data Backup for both Offices. The drives that we have are connected using the USB ports, but they can also be connected through a Firewire port, with both cables included with the unit. One thing to be aware of though, is that if you connect it using a USB 1.1 port, the drives are quite slow, with a supposed transfer rate of 12 MB...
