Advantages: Execellent position next to bus station and close to shops, just far enough away from night life to be quiet. Disadvantages: The food is excellent so you may over eat ! Not very close to beach.
Advantages: No Hard Sale No Annoying Adverts Disadvantages: None
...Ladies apply here for your date with me. I am a single guy, genuine, honest, polite and a lotto winner!
Well, okay, I only won a tenner but, still got to keep trying eh?
Well I might not be in the money but you could be. I write this review of financial service website: www.unbiased.co.uk
The website is a gold mine of information and resources for both people with money and people who are looking to get more.
What does the site do? Who are they?
The site is that of a company called IFA Promote.
The site and company is really a big advert and database of Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs)
IFAs join this site obviously to make money but they are not allowed to actually print big adverts or add banners or try to sell anything to you which is what I like most about the site.
The site actually tries to find...

Review of IFA Promotions
Advantages: advice from people who know what they are talking about, free Disadvantages: dealing online is less personal than face to face
...Have you ever thought that you might benefit from speaking to a Financial Advisor but imagined it would be too expensive or take up too much of your time. Or perhaps you thought that a Financial Advisor would speak a different language to you and you would not understand a word they were saying.
This is what I thought until I discovered IFA-Online. I had decided, in spite of a huge penalty, to investigate moving my mortgage from my existing lender (Nationwide) to another lender. We had taken out a fixed rate mortgage, which at the time seemed like a great idea. The trouble was, instead of interest rates going up as expected, they started to come down and we were soon left paying way over the odds for our mortgage. After negotiations with Nationwide, it became clear that they would not reduce the penalty if we stayed with them, so...

Review of IFA-Online
Advantages: May recover in the long term Disadvantages: Perpetual has been taken over by Invesco
...to minimise my losses I simply waited. Now the fund is worth Ł436.
I receive statements valuing the fund every 6 months. An annual report of the fund is sent every year. Remember the initial charge of the fund is 5% of which at least 3% go to your IFA in commission. The IFA also gets the majority of the 1.5-% annual charge.
More recently Perpetual has been taken over by Amvescap. It will be interesting if the Asian Smaller Markets fund is kept. Having got my fingers burnt once I will make my own financial decisions in future and my IFA can go to some other mug to make commission....
Advantages: fund choice and professional service Disadvantages: not the cheapest
...Long term is what all the IFAs kept telling me when I asked them about a multi-fund investment. Two years ago I had some cash that was not doing very well in a bank account so I set about the complex (for me) task of finding out about these multi-funds.
First thing to say is find a good IFA that you can talk to - it certainly made my decision more straightforward. Various funds were talked about but for me, Skandia seemed to have flexibility and a wide range of funds for me to invest in. I also felt secure with the multi-national size of the company.
Their charges are not the cheapest on the market but so far I have been happy with the way they look after my small investment. I have also found their helpline very efficient. The staff were professional and friendly....
...I have visited the site on and off since it was launched and have noticed it has developed into a rounded financial website as apose to a carpet bagging based site. The site offers information on all aspects of personal finance from Life Assurance to Stocks and Shares - it even has its own IFA. Due to the site being independant they information provided is unbiased as you find on most financial web site. I particulary like the Ask the IFA section. Also worth noting that the web site address has changed from .net to .com ....

Review of themoneybag.co.uk
Advantages: Friendly knowledgeable contributors Disadvantages: Not so good on share dealing
...This site was set up in Feb 2000 and originally discussions centred around the demutualisation debate and the best ways of obtaining windfalls. It is now a general finance site, though demutualisation issues still feature prominently. The site has two IFAs who are able to offer general information on financial issues raised in the IFA forum. I was particularly impressed with their depth of knowledge and their helpfulness! Since joining, I have learned much about personal finance and have been able to contribute information myself.
All in all it is a close-knit community for those interested in finance and windfalls in particular. I would particularly recommend it to those interested in improving their finances / financial knowledge by the self-help route. newcomers are always made welcome by the existing members....

Review of themoneybag.co.uk
Advantages: Mutual so best interest of customers(members) Disadvantages: Not fully flexible
...Looking for a mortgage is a daunting task with so many different products available and uncertainties over interest rates, so when remortgaging 2 years ago, we sought the advice of an IFA (Independant Financial Advisor). He came to our home and discussed our needs both interms of what we could afford and how much stability we were looking for in terms of repayments. Having gone away he came back with an offer from the Nationwide. This offer was very good with a low 2 year fixed rate with free valuation but a fee of Ł495. However with what we were going to save this was well worth it.
The IFA handled everything for which they receive a fee from the lender which is outlined in any offer you receive in case you feel you need to question the reasons for a specific product being offered.
Our mortgage was up and running with no direct...
