...Vertical limit is one of those films you will either love or not. I loved it! Yes despite my fear of heights, I really enjoyed this film. Okay some scenes did have me looking at the screen from my hands strategically placed over my eyes!
The story open with five climbers on a ‘vertical’ mountain face! Three are related, namely Father, Son and daughter. As they climb their way to the peak, the unthinkable happens, the rope breaks free and they begin their long plunge to the earth ‘miles’ below! Luckily one rope holds and the son is then ordered by his father to cut the rope-thus k illing his father and two other climbers. But does he have the guts to cut the rope, and k ill his father?
A few years later, and surprisingly enough the daughter hasn't been put off climbing by the events that had happened years...

Review of Vertical Limit (DVD)
Advantages: Nice special effects! Disadvantages: Dull script - boring!
...I saw Vertical Limit because of the trailers and adverts. It really did look like an excellent film, I went into my local Odeon (a few months ago) with high hopes and I left disappointed. Sure the fancy special effects dazzled me but the script didn’t. The first hour of the film are very impressive, however it goes down hill from there. The film begins in the same location that Mission Impossible 2 was shot.
For those that don’t know the film is about a group of climbers who daringly climb K2. A group leave to climb the mountain and as you will have guessed a storm occurs, the group of 3 are divided on whether to turn back or carry on. They decide to carry on. They fall under an ice sheet and the ending well I don’t want to give it away I’ll just say that the film ends in true American movie style...
Advantages: Pure action, no distraction Disadvantages: Less believable than MacDonalds' merchandising posters
...No, this opinion does not focus on those unfortunate people such as myself, who find their own dizzying height a hindrance to their everyday lives. If I start sharing with you my constant distress at having to squeeze myself (bent double) into coach and bus seating, I may just start to weep.
No, dear friends, this opinion confronts the newest Hollywood genre of them all, the event movie.
The concept behind films like this and others (such as Independence Day, Jurassic Park and Twister), is to take a budget big enough to make Solomon blush and spend only a small amount of it on the actors, saving several lottery wins worth of cash for the special effects. This is the most successful format to date and Vertical Limit is no exception.
I must firstly say that for me, this feature (or Cliffhanger with attitude) is a film containing...
Advantages: Good space saver Disadvantages: A little expensive for a piece of plastic
...The Playstation 2 looks like a big black Japanese skyscraper, which in my opinion isn’t that appealing, and while looking a little different may not be the most colourful.
The Playstation 2 has been designed so that it can be located in two different positions. It can be placed;
1. Horizontally (On top of a VCR or on top of a digi' box etc.)
2. Vertically (on a desk e.g.), like if you have a PC in a ‘Tower’ arrangement.
The Playstation 2’s vertical stand allows the user to locate it in an upright position. This does make the console look more like a PC tower and in my opinion, it does look better in this position. This Playstation logo is also rotateable to accommodate for the differences in location, which isn’t that important, but is a nice touch.
The Playstation 2 does have little...

Review of PS2 Vertical Stand
Advantages: Excellent memory, great customer service, value for money, ease of use Disadvantages: None, except it's rather heavy!
...As far as writing about computers goes i am not the most experienced so please bear with me and i'll try and do what i think is a great computer, justice.
First of all, i had previously owned a Dell Dimension 8400 with double memory due to a deal via online purchasing. My needs in a desktop computer have expanded and having been very happy with Dell products in the past, i have upgraded to the Dimension 9200. This is where my first tip to a potential buyer comes in- check out the Dell website because if you buy direct and order at the right time, they very often have deals on such as double memory as previously mentioned, or freebies such as printers and scanners. I ordered mine online again this time and found the staff as usual to be incredibly helpful and very pleasant. Ordering online also allows you to customise the PC to suit...
Advantages: Edge-Of-Your-Seat Action. Disadvantages: Drags On A Little
...and archive footage. It is easy to see cuts between archived footage of K2, and actual footage filmed for the film. Vertical Limit is not a directed masterpiece, but definitely viewable, by far. For those of you with a weak stomach, no need to worry. There is very little gore. In fact, there is only one scene in the film that contains gore. To accompany the action, there is a slight dash of comedy, which is successful in creating a spectrum of action too.
The audio is very realistic, with the noise of the snow and cold wind blowing through your speakers. The audio doesn’t have any faults and ultimately surpasses the video.
There should be more films like Vertical Limit. It’s a shame that there aren’t more “Mother Nature” films such as this, because they’re very entertaining. I recommend this to anyone who...
Advantages: Powerful, Good Looking, Large Memory and Space Disadvantages: Heavy, Sold as it is with poor starting performance, a bunch of crap software installed.
...give much detailed information, but i recommend if you choose Dell Dimension 9200, be ready for everything, and dont forget that the warranty, the most expensive one is the best thing you can choose, rather than memory, space or accessories.
I recommend a Dell 5.1 Sound System, Logitech Web Camera, Windows Home Edition rather than Media Center, pick the printer only if it's for free, because its very poor, and a 19'' monitor should be the best to choose, 1024MB DDR RAM should give you enough performance, and dont make the same mistake picking 500GB because its hard to fill it up and believe me doing that reduces computer performance, 160-320GB is totally enough.
Intel Pentium has its own advantages, and a computer is optimal for playing games, media, or basic office work, but i dont believe this machine can survive more than 3 years...
Advantages: All the features of an iPod plus more; Internet Access; Reliable; Quality Disadvantages: Can be slow on start up / shut down.
...The second generation iPod touch is somehow even better than the first.
It does do that typical apple slow turn-on/off as soon as you have loaded any files onto the hard drive but you can live with this. And since this is the only thing that annoys me about it, it truly is a good buy for the price.
On to the many advantages:
- It maintains the typical iPod look and features that would be expected from an iPod;
- The new version is sleeker and comes with the most recent software - allowing games to be downloaded and used off line - unlike the webapps of the first generation.
- The display is a good size and the fact that it can be viewed both horizontally and vertically allows for ease of use and good viewing.
- I have had no problems and as mentioned the only negative is the slow start up!
Overall very good for the price.
Summary...
Advantages: The disaster scenes are well done, acted, and very tense Disadvantages: somewhat unbelievable, but doesn't spoil it!
...Surprisingly, I got more than I expected from this film. I expected a cheesy, typical popular-American film, with a sentimental side, but with a few action scenes and special effects. -(Something like Armageddon) I’m not exactly a fan of action films, but I really enjoyed this one!
The story is about a brother and sister, who have a passion for risky climbing. (Robin Tunney playing as Annie, Chris O'donnel as Peter)
After a horrific accident, Peter, being devastated has a slight change of career. 3 Years later, Annie, who is still climbing, and wants to fulfill her fathers dream, starts her thrilling trip to the second highest peak in the world. This however, requires her, and others, to climb to the top of K-2. As predicted, things go wrong, and a team is sent to save them.
It’s not as stupid as it sounds. There is...
...I am not going toi pretend that I can inform you of everythng there is to know on the iPod Touch, they are so extensive in there functions i think it would just be boring you anyway!
Let me start from the beginnning, I saved up for the christmas just gone, and i wanted to buy my two younger brothers something which they would really appreciate and enjoy.
A friend said why don't i buy them one of these, now don't get me wrong, i know what an iPod is, but i had no idea about an iTouch, therefore I was reluctant to spend £170 each on them.
When I first saw them, I was a little disappointed, I would have thought that Apple would offer you some inclusive accessories with the £170 iPod that you are buying, but really i was just a black thing in a small clear case.
On inspection of the item i realised that it is a very smart and very...
