Advantages: The whole experience. Disadvantages: My stay was completely disadvantage free!
...Regular readers of my reviews will no doubt already know I am a huge fan of Blackpool and that I travel there on a regular basis. Now I am the first to admit that when I visit Blackpool it is more about the place itself than the accommodation and therefore I usually just opt for a very inexpensive B&B but I do on occasions like to treat myself to a luxury break in a hotel and have stayed in the Big Blue hotel that overlooks the Pleasure beach (already reviewed) and also in the Imperial Hotel which is what I am going to tell you a bit about here.
I stayed in the Imperial in late 2004 so I do apologise if there have been changes that I fail to mention in this review but I am assured after talking to friends who I recommended the hotel to and are recently back from their stay that it is every bit as good now as I told them it was then...
Advantages: A good family soap Disadvantages: None
...Cussons Imperial Leather, such a classic soap that has been on the shop and chemists shelves for as long as I can remember.
The Imperial Leather fragrance was the creation of PZ Cussons and its origins lay in the United Kingdom.
I was interested when I read how Cussons Imperial Leather soap gathered popularity, it was all due to the rationing that was implemented at the onset of World War Two in 1942. The soap bar was described as being hard and long lasting and therefore the soap was considered a safe bet to spend your coupons on.
I was just discussing with family how the Imperial Leather soap used to come in an elegant scarlet red cardboard box which was attractively curved at either end, but as time has gone by and the World has become more conscious of the way in which our goods are packaged the soap now comes in a clear...
Advantages: Good smell Disadvantages: Dries out my hands
...₪₪₪ Price and Packaging ₪₪₪
This was priced at my local Morrisons for £1.49 for a 300ml bottle and since there was a BOGOF offer on, I couldn't resist trying a different range of handwash.
I have since seen Imperial Leather Handwashes in Asda for just £1 so not too much of a bargain for me!!
The bottle is transparent plastic so that you can see how much is left and when to replenish.
It looks fine on the sink, no need to purchase a soap dispenser which I have used when I have opted for much cheaper products to pretend that I haven't!
The packaging is simple and understated which is fine by me!
The top of the bottle has a white opaque liquid dispenser which doesn't need to be plunged right down to the bottom as a little goes a long way.
What I have found is that unlike many other...
Advantages: Friendly cosy and excellent location. Disadvantages: Building work and only one small lift.
...We have just got back from another excellent long weekend to Belgium. This time we used Ostend as our base and were traveling with a party of 17 adults. The trip cost us £200 pounds each and this included our transport (in a 16 seater coach ~ the extra person was our mate the bus driver), crossing on the Channel Tunnel and three nights B&B in the Imperial Hotel. The Imperial is part of the Best Western chain ~ a large hotel group that has hotels all over the world.
~~~WHERE IS THE IMPERIAL HOTEL?
The hotel can be found at 76 Van Iseghenlaan in the centre of Ostend. It is around ten to fifteen minutes walk from the Train and Tram stations and is in an excellent location. It is within sight of the seafront, beach and the main Albert Promenade and is also just opposite the Casino. We picked the hotel primarily because of this...
Advantages: Great Location. Good Food. Excellent Value. Great Service. Disadvantages: Minor compaint about Beef Satay starter, but otherwise no issues at all.
...on the Imperial China on Lisle Street.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The first thing that strikes you as you walk up Lisle Street from Leicester Square is that every second business appears to be a restaurant, all of which (from budget canteens to more posh eateries) were pretty busy. The character of the streets changes as soon as you head into Chinatown as well, so its very easy to forget you are in central London. The entrance to the Imperial China is through an alley, so it can be easy to miss despite the signage outside. Unexpectedly, you cross a little red bridge over a small pond chock full of impressive looking Koi. It gives you the impression of ?crossing over? and leaving the bustle of Lisle Street behind you.
We were courteously met by the waiting staff and immediately seated. The restaurant seems to have two main areas. The front...
Advantages: A stunning setting Disadvantages: Entertainment
...I have just returned from a Thomson Gold Holiday staying at the Atlantica Imperial Resort Hotel in Kolymbia Rhodes. This hotel is described as a 5 star Deluxe!
We arrived at 2am on a sunday morning and were greeted by smiling staff and a sparkling glass of champagne. Great start this hotel is going to be fantastic.
A marble entrance with palm trees in the centre and a water fall. It looked wonderful. We were quickly shown to our rooms and our luggage was taken by a porter who did not hold his hand out for a tip.
We had chosen to stay in superior rooms which were like small chalets comprising of a four poster bed, slippers, bathrobes, wine and fruit. We also had a marvellous sea view, which I never tired looking at.
Unfortunately on entering our room the smell of smoke was over whelming, much like a stale ashtray. We...
Advantages: Smells nice Disadvantages: Expensive if not on offer
...Imperial Leather is a brand name that can often be found in my Bathroom. It is a name that I have grown up with and over the years come to trust.
I remember the bars of ivory coloured Imperial Leather soap that my mother used to buy occasionally as a treat and even now if I spot it on offer I sometimes still buy it for myself.
Until my early teens I actually thought that this brand was called Imperial Lather, as opposed to Leather and presumed that this was something to do with the nice lather that the soap formed on the skin. When I discovered it was actually leather I was somewhat perplexed and still believe that Imperial Lather would be a much more suitable name.
These days the Imperial Leather brand is part of the PZ Cussons group of Companies and there are many hundreds of different products within their portfolio. One...
Advantages: Smells delish! Disadvantages: Only limited edition
...I don't have baths very often as I'm more of a shower person, but sometimes I love nothing more than a soak in the bath with a good book and glass of wine to help me relax.
When I'm in the bath I love a gorgeous smell and lots of bubbles, and when I saw Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Bath on offer for £1 for a 500ml bottle a few months ago in Asda, I thought I'd give it a go.
This particular Imperial Leather bath foam is a limited edition bottle, with green tea, rice milk and jasmine. According to the bottle:
The Green Tea is a powerful anti-oxidant.
The rice milk is caring and gentle.
And the Jasmine is relaxing and soothing.
The bath foam is made by Cussons, and has a skin friendly pH, is mild enough for the whole family, has been dermatalogically tested, and is 100% soap free.
The bottle is in the typical...
Advantages: Nice smell, lots of bubbles Disadvantages: Might be to sweet smelling for some people.
...The Bottle
The bottle is clear plastic with a cream plastic lid. The Front has the Imperial Leather logo on it with some stars in the middle with family kind written off to the left hand side above the stars. Below this is written Snug as a bug bath, vanilla milk and honey and comforting. On the back is a paragraph about the product, four main points about the product, directions, ingredients, address, recycle symbol and that once opened it needs to be used within twelve months.
My Opinion
I bought this bubble bath as the one I had was starting to run out, at the time it was on offer and I thought a £1.00 was a good price. When I first used the bubble bath I noticed the smell, it was very sweet and you can defiantly smell the vanilla but not the honey. When I poured it in the bath it was quiet a thick consistency and was cream...
Advantages: Superb services and veiws over Torbay Disadvantages: Food is pretty poor for a 5 star hotel
...In June 2006 we travelled to Torquay for the fourth time in 2 years, the main draw was the wonderful Imperial hotel just on the outskirts of Torquay.
The hotel is something special, there are so many good points but one glaring bad point!
Firstly the location is spectacular, with an unenvied look out over the Torbay area the sea facing rooms are well worth the supplement payable when booking. The premium rooms are large and well appointed. I would ask for one in the main hotel as some rooms have access only through the resaurant which can be a bit intimidating during feeding times when others are busy eating ther dinner!
The facilities are 1st class however, with a lovely indoor pool complex with a sauna and spa as well as a well appointed exercise room (if you are into that sort of thing). The changing rooms are clean and well...
