Impressive, Illustrious Imperial!!

Advantages: The whole experience.
Disadvantages: My stay was completely disadvantage free!

...Regular readers of my reviews will no doubt already know I am a huge fan of Blackpool and that I travel there on a regular basis. Now I am the first to admit that when I visit Blackpool it is more about the place itself than the accommodation and therefore I usually just opt for a very inexpensive B&B but I do on occasions like to treat myself to a luxury break in a hotel and have stayed in the Big Blue hotel that overlooks the Pleasure beach (already reviewed) and also in the Imperial Hotel which is what I am going to tell you a bit about here. I stayed in the Imperial in late 2004 so I do apologise if there have been changes that I fail to mention in this review but I am assured after talking to friends who I recommended the hotel to and are recently back from their stay that it is every bit as good now as I told them it was then...

Advantages: Nice location, reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Small rooms

This is a fairly expensive part of the world, and the Travel Inns in the area are booked up 3-4 weeks in advance. After identifying the site: http://www.4hotels.co.uk - Worth a visit if you are struggling for somewhere to stay when travelling, the site lists an excellent range of primarily B&B's, but also hotels throughout the UK. From here I discovered The Imperial Hotel, Henley-on-Thames, which I was advised was a very upmarket and expensive town. The hotel is described as ".....this imposing, classical Edwardian building is situated in the Thames Valley in Royal Henley on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, which is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty....". MINT IMPERIAL!

Advantages: Friendly cosy and excellent location.
Disadvantages: Building work and only one small lift.

...We have just got back from another excellent long weekend to Belgium. This time we used Ostend as our base and were traveling with a party of 17 adults. The trip cost us £200 pounds each and this included our transport (in a 16 seater coach ~ the extra person was our mate the bus driver), crossing on the Channel Tunnel and three nights B&B in the Imperial Hotel. ...i stayed here for my party conference mainly because as a last minute attender it was the only place with affordable rooms left,on checking in I found out why! Although from the outside it looks very much like its description,victorian coaching inn,on entering the room it felt like I was going back to the 1970`s,this is a hotel in dire need of a comprehensive makeover,the standard of decoration in my room was very poor,bathroom suite was very 70`s formica. The mattress had seen many years service so if you have back problems dont go here. It is however not all bad,the staff were attentive and on the whole pleasant to interact with. i couldnt fault the standard of the food on offer.it has free car parking -in harrogate that is not to be sniffed at and the location is central for the towns usual attractions. Lovely lovely Imperial

Advantages: Superb services and veiws over Torbay
Disadvantages: Food is pretty poor for a 5 star hotel

...In June 2006 we travelled to Torquay for the fourth time in 2 years, the main draw was the wonderful Imperial hotel just on the outskirts of Torquay. The hotel is something special, there are so many good points but one glaring bad point! Firstly the location is spectacular, with an unenvied look out over the Torbay area the sea facing rooms are well worth the supplement payable when booking. The premium rooms are large and well appointed. I would ask for one in the main hotel as some rooms have access only through the resaurant which can be a bit intimidating during feeding times when others are busy eating ther dinner! The facilities are 1st class however, with a lovely indoor pool complex with a sauna and spa as well as a well appointed exercise room (if you are into that sort of thing). ...This was my first trip to Las Vegas & I was already four hours late, as I was driven from the airport to the hotel at 1am in the morning I thought to myself 'what if the hotel staff are finished for the night', 'what if they have given my room to someone else'. As the taxi drew up & the automatic doors of the hotel opened, I couldn't believe my eyes. In the lobby of the hotel there were hundreds of slot machines & the noise from the people using them was unbearable, how would I get to sleep tonight with that noise? Although a large queue had formed at the numerous check in desks, the staff were ultra efficient & within minutes I was already checked in myself. ...I had the pleasure of staying at the Imperial for a couple of nights for a residential conference. The Imperial is part of the paramount chain, there are frequently special offers on their website www.paramount-hotels.co.uk. The usual discounter (laterooms, discount city hotels etc) can sometimes do deals on room rates. The rate I paid was a conference rate of about £50 per night but at the moment the Paramount website has Room only at £69, DBB at £143 per night The room rates increase as the season progresses. It is actually quite difficult to find anything to criticise. My room was large and well apportioned, with a sea view and patio door onto the balcony with a tremendous view over the bay.
