...Such a lot of the meat that we buy today has very little taste attached to it, sadly the animals are force fed and the meat hits the supermarket shelf as soon as the animal has been slaughtered, hence the meat is given no time to hang to gather taste. If I am buying meat for a special occasion then a visit to my local butchers is on the cards, he can provide some good organic meat but it comes at a high price. Like us all I buy chicken and red meat from the supermarket and just hope that I can inject some flavour into it myself. ...Posh restaurants intrigue me as I have never really dined in one. I have read the reviews in local and weekend newspapers and slathered over the descriptions of divine sounding dishes. However I have also tutted over the prices commanded by these prestigious establishments. I do know the chefs have more experience and the ingredients used are generally better but is the mark up on meals actually justified? I got my chance to find out when Duskman became Dr Dusk and graduated with his PHD. To celebrate we went to Stock in Manchester City Centre for a no expenses spared meal and what a delight it was. I Won't Be Keeping A Stock Of Stock Pots In My Cupboard

Disadvantages: overpriced, salty, artificial

...The secret to a good soup is starting with a good quality stock for the base. I make my own chicken stock by boiling down chicken bones with water and it makes an exceptionally tasty soup but when I make my lentil soup only knorr ham cubes will do. I had spotted the knorr stock pots on the shelves of the supermarkets several times and wondered if they were any good but the price of around £2 for a box of eight potions put me off. Luckily one day they were on half price offer so I chucked them into my trolley. Knorr claim that these stock pots are "a rich concentrated stock made from selected meats, herbs and spices that are gently simmered into a concentrated little pot" so I was expecting something better than a bog standard commercially prepared stock cube. ...Stock pots were very popular many years ago and bones, vegetables and odds and ends were continually boiled up to provide the stock for sauces, soups and casseroles, but I am pleased to say life is easier now, and probably healthier when I think about stock pots sitting in warm conditions on the stove for a few days! All we need to do now is crumble a stock cube or as in this case sprinkle on a spoonful of granules. I have an assortment of stock cubes, granules and liquid stock and it depends what I am making as to what I use. An Easier Way to Make Stock

...I always keep a supply of stock cubes and other herbs etc in my cupboard for when I am cooking as you never know when you may need them. I have always had the problem that I am not patient and get fed up waiting on stock cubes to dissolve! The last time I went to tesco and stock was on my list, I noticed just next to the cubes was a new product from Knorr. It was a little tin tub, with a green lid and a similar picture to that on the cubes packets. It was Chicken Stock. Looking at the tub closer, I realised that they were granules. So for £1.59, I bought the 150g tub. I shoved it in the cupboard and when I next needed stock I got the Granules out. I took the green lid off and there was a metal cover which had a ring pull and I pulled it off. Very similar to tins of baby milk. The smell of the chicken stock was instant...

Knorr Chicken Stock Granules Mmmm

...Can i just say that this product is a god send. I use it for making Spicy Chicken Fried Rice and is the first ingredient on my list to give the rice that base chicken flavour before adding the spices. The stock granules come in a tin with a plastic resealable lid. There's also a security tag underneath the plasti lid which i tend to remove after my fist use. The stock has that traditional knorr chcken taste but appear to give a fuller flavour to dishes. Ths stuff is also very good for drizzling over chicken fillets just to provide that extra flavour you need. Its actually a well presented product which cost me around £1.69. But i would regard this as good value for money. I would recommend trying it....

Lock Stock is a Hot Rock

...Lock Stock is a gem of a movie about 4 young Cockney rogues, but generally nice guys, who decide to play their hands at the poker table with £100,000 of their savings. Only problem is that even though they are quite streetwise they're clearly out of their depth when playing against Hatchet Harry, the local heavy. As a consequence they end up owing him half a million by next week otherwise its goodbye fingers & toes! The movie is superbly directed & choreographed by Madonna's latest hubbie, Guy Richie. Clearly influenced by Tarantino, Richie turns on the style with interesting camera angles, lighting, a cool soundtrack and a very witty script.
