Toronto
Advantages: Read opp
Disadvantages: none
...This review is about my time in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, I spent just under two weeks in this province, and so I thought I would share my travel experience with everyone. I have been to Canada once before, however I was very young and thus didn?t really get a feel for the province; I was too young to travel around and to young to do the things I enjoy doing now. These reviews won?t list all the things that can be done in Toronto, but rather just the things I had done during my stay. Hopefully, this information will be of some use to anyone reading this and hoping to travel their one day.
Brief History:
Ontario is a province located in east central Canada, and is the second largest province after Quebec. Most of Ontario is bordered by the US, and for this reason many of the tourists visiting the northern tip of America will also...

Up on Toronto's roof
Advantages: Great experience
Disadvantages: Nothing
...Our recent trip to Canada started and ended in Toronto, and with just over a day to kill before the flight brought us back to good old Blighty, there were a couple of things we really wanted to do. One of these was to travel up to the top of what was once the world's tallest free standing structure, the CN Tower.
To be honest, the Tower, which sits a few blocks away from the shoreline of Lake Ontario, is not the most accessible place if you approach it from the north. You arrive with too many stairs and bridges to negotiate, and if you don't enter the building at the right point, you can get lost.
However, once you do get inside, it's quite simple. You join the queue to buy the tickets, and go to the top of the tower. The queue was huge, but as there are limited ticket tariffs, it went down quite quickly. There are a few options...

The HIlton Toronto
Advantages: Great location, helful staff
Disadvantages: Rooms need some finishing touches!
...Hilton Toronto
Having recently returned from a great stay at the Hilton and Toronto thought that it was about time that I attempted to put pen to paper again on Ciao as been absent for quite a while!
I opted for this hotel because I found a great deal of around £500 for 2 people for 7 nights at the beginning of September 2006.
The room:
The room was located on the 16th floor as was spacious with two comfortable double beds and nice, fresh linen. In addition there was a wardrobe that whilst note huge was provided adequate storage as well as the ever useful iron and ironing board. A large TV provided ample international TV and good 'pay per' movies; the usual Hollywood Blockbuster stuff. There was a well stocked mini bar at reasonable prices and a nice coffee machine with a good range of complimentary hot drinks...

Toronto in Autumn
Advantages: Plenty to do
Disadvantages: none
...We arrived at Pearson Airport after a seven hours flight for our weeks short break in Toronto. There were plenty of shuttle buses available to ferry passenger to the many city centre hotels. It was in the month of October and the autumn colours could only be described as breathtaking.
Toronto is quoted as being “like New York but run by the Swiss”. Perhaps a bit unfair it is a beautiful city spotlessly clean and feels really safe to wander about at night. It is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario and is a sprawling metropolis of diverse cultures.
Having so little time we wanted to cram as much as possible into our short stay.We found the Hop on Hop off bus a great way to see the city and get our bearings. I am not sure of the price as this was included in our holiday.

Toronto is brilliant
Advantages: laid back people, things to see, interesting shopping, Niagara Falls, good exchange rate
Disadvantages: a lot of homeless people around, very weak coffee
...My partner and I went to Toronto in July 2006. It was to be the first part of our holiday and then we were flying to visit my partner's brother in Albany, New York State.
We booked our tickets through lastminute.com and got a really good deal- it was a three legged journey; Manchester to Toronto, Toronto to Albany and then Albany to Toronto ,and Toronto back to Manchester. For 2 tickets we paid £1600. I did a lot of research on the internet before booking and this was what we needed. A lot of airlines did not meet our requirements.
We got to the airport and as we were going through to passport control I had a telephone call from Australia (my son was on a rugby tour with school) to say that he had had a little accident and had broken his nose- so he wouldn't be playing until he got to New Zealand in 10 days time. However, I was...

Towering Over Toronto
Advantages: Breath Taking Views
Disadvantages: Not for those who have a dislike for heights
...Where is the CN Tower?
As soon as you arrive in Toronto it is easy to spot the CN Tower. Loated on Front Street in the heart of the Entertainment district in Toronto, it was just a 10 minute walk away from my Hotel the Chelsea (also reviewed).
The CN Tower is recognised as Canada's main tourist attraction and it is easy to see why ,as the Tower looks magnificent, attracting over 2 million visitors a year.
As you enter the Tower there are strict security procedures a body search is performed and then you walk through a booth which blows air to your clothes and takes a photograph.
After completing security you pass through to the ticket collection area.
What are the prices?
Total Tower Experience (Lookout, Glass Floor, Skypod, Movie and Motion Simulator)
Adult $31.99 plus tax for all age groups
Observation Experience...

Toronto top 10 for kids
Advantages: A great city for kids
Disadvantages: Can be very hot or very cold
...Two summers ago, my best friend (and single Mum) was at a loss for what to do with her 13-year-old son during the holidays. I was planning a trip to Canada with my 18-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter, so I suggested that he could come along as well. In the event, his grandmother also joined us, so we were quite a jolly party. For both of them, it was their first visit to Canada (apart from a brief side trip to Niagara Falls that Gramma had made a few years ago) so it was exciting to be able to show them something of Canada, and especially Toronto.
I got to thinking about what makes Toronto so special for kids. Here, in no particular order, are my top ten tips. This review assumes that you have already traveled to Toronto and found a place to stay, so I won't go into those details.

Great Toronto hotel
Advantages: Close to everything, inexpensive
Disadvantages: None to name
...breakfast there we found that we were served quickly and all the staff were very cheerful. For three of us a decent breakfast with drinks cost us around $28 (about £16).
There is a concierge desk in reception which is manned all throughout the day. As we had never been to Toronto before we had no idea what there was to do or where to visit to we popped down to ask for some information. The lady on the desk (Donna) was extremely helpful and spent a good hour helping us out. She even went to the trouble to get us tickets for local events. When, towards the end of the holiday, we decided to stay a few more days she arranged transport for us and changed all our flights. The reception was just as helpful in taking care or any problems.
There are payphones downstairs and also internet access, which is only $2 for 15 minutes. More time works out...

A decent option in the heart of Toronto
Advantages: clean, central, friendly staff
Disadvantages: normally expensive, breakfast overpriced
...***Location***
For those spending a few days in downtown Toronto, there is certainly no better location than this hotel. It is right in the heart of the city, in walking distance from everything a tourist may want to do: The Eaton Centre, Queen Street West, Yonge Street, CN Tower.
***Arrival***
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly front desk person who was well aware that we had booked this hotel at a bargain price via Priceline. Nonetheless, he treated us with as much courtesy as he would have treated a full-paying customer and even upgraded us to one of their special rooms for Starwood Preferred Guests. We also were able to choose whether we wanted to stay on a high floor or a low floor, so we opted for a higher floor.
The elevators are simply brilliant - they take you up to your room in no time. One quibble...

Toronto in February
Advantages: Great city and sights, very friendly people
Disadvantages: Very cold, burritos
...As I arrived at Pearson Airport, the weather I was told had improved. It had stopped snowing and the temperature (with the wind chill) was sultry minus 28 degrees. This was my first visit to Canada, so I wasn?t going to let a bit of cold weather dampen my enthusiasm. After all you don?t go to Toronto in February and expect to get a suntan, do you?
Like a little boy on Christmas Eve, I was so excited. Seeing a new city, a new country I could hardly contain myself as a waited by the conveyor belt for my suitcase to come around.
Waiting for suitcases always makes me a little nervous, my memory returns to a particularly embarrassing holiday to Majorca with my Mum and Dad. When everyone on the aircraft had disembarked and gathered round the belt waiting for their luggage, one particular suitcase stood out by a mile. Smashed and dented...
