...Since we purchased this product in September 2006 the Fridge compartment has failed 3 times! Engineers have to tried to repair it on each occasion, but about 6 months later (or less) it failed with the same problem. There appears to be a design fault with this model of fridge/freezer. Indesit won't admit it to me, but I have found reviews all over the net, describing exactly the same symptoms. When it fails you hear a loud whining sound. I was told by the visiting engineer, that the Fridge compartment gets it's cold air from the Freezer compartment and the whining sound is caused by a fan which gets iced up and starts to complain as it labours. As a result, cold air is not being directed in to the Fridge compartment. Indesit/Hotpoint have a new policy (late 2007) that you have to pay an engineer callout fee of about £100... Read review

...I have had this fridge freezer for 6 years and is still going strong. Was one of the cheapest in the range of fridge freezers in Comet at the time and was bought because of that reason. It has a catch that means you can make the doors swing which way you want and two storage compartments in the bottom of the fridge. Plenty of space in the fridge and also in the door with adjustable shelves. The freezer is also spacious but the drawers have started to break. It does need a lot of defrosting and I also find that there is alot of water storage that buils up underneath the drawers in the fridge and if you put food too close to the back of the fridge it does frost a bit! ...It's very hard to get excited about a fridge freezer it really is. This review could be the shortest on record if I just said that the fridge chills food and the freezer, guess what, freezes food. I will go on however and tell you all about my Indesit BAAN 12, the beautiful white goddess that now stands in the corner of my kitchen. It cost me £249.99 from Argos and I consider this a fair price for a fride freezer. I had expected to pay upwards of £300. For you rmoney you get a fridge freezer that falls into energy efficiency class 'A+', that stands 175cm tall, 60cm wide and 65.5cm deep. Like most models, the door opens from the left to right. ...we brought this fridge freezer about 6 months ago from the argos after our old one finaly bit the dust, it cost £290 and is only available on home delivery. The doors on this can be fitted either side so you can choose which side you want them to open from, the light in the fridge is on the top of the inside of the fridge which gives a lot more light in the fridge than my old one used to which was on the side, it has 4 glass shelves inside the fridge that three are adjustable so that you can choose where inside the fridge you want them and you have a salad tray at the bottom, there are 3 trays on the door of the fridge for dairy items that are quite small, one has an egg tray and the others are ideal for tins and butter. there is a larger tray on the bottom of the fridge door that is ideal for milk and pop. ...After 18 months my WD12X Indesit washing machine gave up the ghost, a repairman came, took one look at it, and said, it's an Indesit, they're always going wrong, it's not worth repairing. Searching on the web rapidly confirmed that indeed Indesit washing machines are always going wrong. To add insult to injury, my Indesit cooker (also 18 months old) went wrong the same week, which cost £60 to repair, and my Indesit diswasher is giving me cause for concern too. Indesit offered the usual fob off excuses you would expect, and in short showed no concern for the fact their machines break down so shortly after the guarantee expires. My advice, avoid Indesit like the bubonic plague, their machines are a waste of money.... Read review

...Ok so a freezers a freezer right? As long as it can freeze things and make ice cubes, thats all you need right? Well when we moved house we got a built in fridge so no need for our old and trusty fridge freezer had to go and we needed a larder freezer to fill a gap. We searched all the usual places and looked for a suitable machine. We concidered the cheaper end of the range as we couldn't see the point of spending fortunes, they all do the same thing right? Not entirely it seems. First off we ordered and collected ours from Comet and is was the cheapest A rated efficiency type machine that came in silver. ...My misery with Indesit, and their non-functioning washing machines, is over. After two unsuccessful attempt to buy a properly functioning machine, I got myself a refund from Argos and headed off to a local electrical store where my wife chose a Bosch machine instead. We've had trouble free experiences with our Bosch dishwasher and Bosch fridge/freezer, so it was no surprise that she would only choose a Bosch washing machine too, after the disaster that was Indesit. It arrived and I set about installing it. The first thing I noticed was the ease of installation. Considering all the hassle I had with the Indesit machine where you take out the transit bolts, only for the plastic spacers to fall off inside the machine, potentially interfering with the drive belt, this machine is sheer luxury. ...We've just bought a new BEKO CDA648FS, 11cuft, in silver to replace our tired old Indesit that has given good service over the last 10 years. Now that I have a couple of small boys running around, the need for more food storage was required and trying to stuff everything required into our old fridge freezer was becoming very difficult. Thus, after much research, we settled on the BEKO CDA648FS, which initially was difficult to obtain due to stock shortages etc. We finally managed to sort one out through our local Comet store, which has to be said were very efficient. They arranged to deliver between 8.00am and 6.00pm on a sunday, and the delivery men arrived at 7.51am on the day! You can arrange for them to take your old unit away for a small charge.
