...I ordered a coat form index extra (www.indexextra.co.uk) and although i had to wait a while it did eventually come. The problem with the site is that it is hard to navigate and very slow, as you would expect with all the images but this was really slow, i also had to place my order twice and make two phone calls to the company before my order was finally accepted. They give you the option of easy payment, with which you get 10% off your order. Although it took about a week for my coat to arrive, when the site says 2 days, i was mainly pleased with the service and i now have a nice new coat. Only do certain sizes (up to a 14)...

ITS A RIGHT INDEX TO INDEX.

Advantages: Good if they have it.
Disadvantages: They normally dont have it.

...Its My Right Index to Index. Its almost Xmas and myself and my partner are planning what presents to get for friends and family. So we look at the toys section and get that toy for the kids and something for my Mum and a few things for ourselves, cant very well leave ourselves out can we. ...I placed an order with index extra on Tuesday morning; by early afternoon they phoned me to confirm the delivery address as in their words it was a large value order. INDEX IS CLOSING April 2005

Advantages: Easy to shop and return any goods
Disadvantages: Self assembles don't always have right parts. INDEX STORES ARE CLOSING

...I was totally shocked to see on the news that Index/Index Extra were closing all of their high street stores, selling some off to rival Argos. Index has been making huge losses for years it seems and they can 't afford to keep their shops open. This is a total heart breaker for me as I only live a few streets away from an Index Extra inside of a Littlewoods store. This is where I used to get all of my jewellery cheap for prezzies and other things as gifts. Life just won't be the same without Index shops to go and quickly get items from. No more reserving online, or reserved for pick-up and what about the staff. I feel for those who are losing their jobs. No more bustling to the catalogue stands and checking to see if the item you want is in stock. No more little pens to put in my pocket absentmidedly, (they were always handy later on...

LOST WITHOUT INDEX EXTRA

Advantages: quick, friendly home shopping service
Disadvantages: no major disadvantages

...Being a poor student, I would be absolutely lost wuthout my Index extra catelogue. Any Item of clothing, furniture, electrical goods etc are list in the Index extra. They do, however only stock the most expensive ranges or the really cheap ranges there is no in between. Saying that, Index only stocks quality items. If you ring the order line and quote your reference number. The items are sent to you usually quite quick, however if lines are out of stock, you may have to wait several weeks. The payment sytem is ideal, you get three months to pay your balance on the goods interest free, you may pay over a longer period, but interst is added....

You name it and Index will most likely have it. Index also run a great Home shopping service which most people now as Index Extra but has recently been changed to Littlewoods Extra. This has everything in the normal catalogue plus more. And for any purchases over £100, the delivery is free, and very cheap if under £100. Argos in disguise

...Index (part of the Littlewoods group ) is a catalogue that is in direct competition with the likes of Argos and to a lesser extent the home shopping groups such as Gus and Empire Stores . They bring out usually two free catalogues a year like Argos - the spring / summer , and autumn / winter versions. I always compare the price of the goods in Index with Argos and typically Index comes out a little more expensive . On average where Index and Argos sell the exact same product then Index is around 50p more . Shavers , tents and breadmakers are three such areas where Argos just has the edge on price in certain brands. Don't let this be the deciding factor though and occasionally it is the other way around . ...After seeing all the ads on tv and instore I logged onto the website as I wanted to buy a cooker and pay for it using the Flexible Account. I first tried in July with Littlewoods OnLine. This didnt seem to work at first and because I didnt hear from them assumed that the application didnt go through. 2 weeks ago I tried again with Index extra and got an e-mail saying I had been accepted and my card would be with me in 10-14 days. Hurrah a new cooker soon! Well the card isnt here, I tried to order anyway but it wouldnt let me as I didnt have a card number.
