...Bought this printer a couple of days ago. Went into the local Curry's was going to buy a HP, but started talking to the shop assistant. My requirements were simple - -Had to have a screen so I could print direct from my camera. This printer has PICTBridge, which allows me to connect my camera to it, and use the screen on my camera to view the pictures and then choose to print from my camera. Save me having to take memory card out of camera. - This also meant that I could choose a cheaper machine as I did not need a screen on the printer. -Seperate ink cartridges - this printer comes with four different ink cartridges. T0715 for Epson printers

Advantages: cheaper to buy 4 but can also buy singly
Disadvantages: you have to look around for the cheapest as prices do vary

For instance, and I expect a lot of dooyoo readers will not be in the bit surprised by this, is that PC World is quite expensive. In fact £7 or £8 more expensive. Of all places to find exactly the same product and at the cheapest price was yes Tescos at £22.00. Plus of course you do get tesco card points! Yes even that sounds a lot of money but if you break it down to price each that is um £5.50 each which isnt bad. ...Printers are marvellous things when they work!We bought an Epson DX4000 a couple of years ago after problems with our HP printer. It was reduced in Tesco and as it is a photo copier and printer we thought it was a bargain but decided to check out the cost of the cartridges before buying. We have used various makes of cartridges over the years for previous printers but had been having problems and always having to clean to get good printing so we were wasting ink. We got sample size cartridges with the printer but bought a Multipack so we were ready when a replacement was needed. The Multipack has 4 cartridges, 1 of each black, yellow, magenta and cyan. The box is blue with a picture of a Cheetah and is in the Cheetah range, there are other ranges like Monkey. Hummingbird and Seahorse makinh it easy to spot the one you want to buy...

Advantages: Easily obtainable, good value, recyclable.
Disadvantages: Really just the idea of it not being a genuine new original!

...MY HISTORY WITH INK CARTRIDGES: From the time I bought my first printer, I have really had nothing but problems when it has come to keeping them supplied with ink! The brand named cartridges generally contain less ink for your money and so they need either need replacing more frequently, or you pay considerably more. My first printer, an Epson, was bought along with bottles of refill ink and a syringe to inject each colour into the colour cartridge, and a bottle of black for the other one. The salesman in PC World assured me it was easy? well it was the first time, apart from the mess! then the second time I just flooded the printer, and I had to buy new cartridges. My second printer a Lexmark, had the same thing happen and I eventually scrapped it! Now I have a HP PSE 1317 inkjet 3 in 1, and I love it, but the ink cartridges...

Advantages: Cheap and Just As Good As Epson

...just slot them into the required slot and you are away. The ink level meters work as well as ever but it is noted that you are not using an Epson cartridge which could affect your warranty. Comparing these babies against the Epson, by printing out a photograph I previously printed using Epson cartridges I can see no visible difference in quality, and there is the same lack of smudging. My only concern being now how long they last when compared to Epson cartridges...... That was easily tested by printing out a copy of my 130 page thesis that my former boss and now emeritus pain in the backside professor wanted a copy of. This takes up about 2/3 of most of the cartridges which was about the same as the Epson printers. So I can safely say that they are an absolute bargain, as they do the same job for half the price. Much better Than Ink Refills, Worthy of the investment

...After using cheap ink refills in our epson printer and seeing the loss of quality, I opted to buy the real deal and get this multipack of epson inks that are compatible with our printer. I was a little worried that I was paying too much for this multipack considering it was just under £28 but when you divide this by the amount of cartridges it works out about £7 per cartridge which isnt too bad for ink in the grand scheme of things. I used to have to perform printer cleaning very regularly which I can only pinpoint to the poor quality ink refills that I used, but now using the genuine cartridges the difference is night and day. You get four colours in the box - Cyan, Magenta, Black and Yellow, with the black ink having a slightly bigger capacity than the others as it gets used more often. Genuine Epson Ink Black T0481 better or not

Advantages: great photo quality & long print run
Disadvantages: expensive

...over 500 sheets but obviously it all depends on what you are printing, I work in the digital imaging field and this series lasts alot longer that the black cartridges used in the D series printers for instance. The T0481 epsom cartridge holds 13ml of ink and like i said lasts noticably longer than many other cartridges PRICE Epson £15.34 as of 17/07/09 & Just Ink & Paper - £13.89 Free pp If printing on glossy photo paper I would recommend that you use only the original T0481 black cartridge to ensure the ink stays put on the paper, if you use ink that does not dry as fast and has a lower quality it will degrade even before the print has dried thus the picture would end up in the bin so don't waste your money on poor quality. Photo quality prints demand the T0481 however if you just need to print on copy paper, text etc...

Tesco Cheap Ink Cartridge

Advantages: Cheap, Does the Job
Disadvantages: Printouts are not very good,Tends to smudge easily

...I purchasd this this third part ink cartridge whilst out shopping in my local Tesco store for just under £3 which seemed like a bargain so i thought i'd give it a go. I've used other third party ink cartridges in the past so thought i'd try this one out too since Tesco seem to make everything now. As with all third part ink cartidges,the initial prints are good and of acceptable standard considering that they can cost up to 90% less than the genuine original ink cartidiges. However as you print out a few more,mthe quality degrades considerably and you'll also notice that the ink does not last as long as the original ones do. The print outs are also prone to smudging and take ages to dry properly compared to the originals and the ink dries up faster if you haven't used them for a long time. Review of Tesco C53 Black Ink Cartridge

Uses Epson C66 ink cartridges

Advantages: Cheap to buy, Cheap running costs, Good print Quality
Disadvantages: No good for printing on gloss paper

...I bought this printer because my Epson C66 died I paid £43 from ebuyer.com okay it doen't come with a usb cable but most printers don't and you can purchase them from as little as a £1 the D68 is just a C66 with a face lift it the print quality is very good not photo perfect one thing that should be noted is that if you planning to print on gloss paper get Epson R220 or above as when printing on gloss it tends bleed and run but it's very good on photo matt the build quality seems to be as good as the C66 I used about 70 sets of cartridges on my old C66 all none originals except the set that came with it another thing that I really like about this printer is thatthey take the C66 cartridges which are cheaper that buying the D68 cartridges even the compatable ones obviously Epson just change the part numbers to fool people into buying...
