Epson Stylus Photo R285...Great Product

Advantages: Price, Quality, ease of use, gives you more control over pictures
Disadvantages: If just just want to print normal photos, still cheaper to use a photo shop

...decent quality printing paper, because if you use bog standard paper, however good the printer is, you will not get the best end result. I wanted quality, so got some proper photo quality printing paper, and the photos are outstanding! I am not totally sure about the economy of using the product, as prices at photo shops have been geting better, meaning uunless there is a reduced price in the ink and photo paper, it will always be a bit more expensive to have your own photo printer, but in my opinion it opens the doors for a lot of opportunities, you have an open canvas, you dont only have to use the photo that you have taken as "a photo", but you can (using a photoshop style program) get a lot more out of one photo than if you took it to a photo shop! In my opinion, this Epson Stylus Photo R285 is the best photo printer that I have...

Epson Photo R285 printer

Advantages: excellent all round while working
Disadvantages: Subject to ink problems but Ok with insurance

...The Epson Sylus Photo R285 is an excellent printer while it is working. In 12 months I have had two of these printers and both have have had the same fault, that being the sudden inability to recognise full ink cartridges and mule like refusing to budge in any direction.This problem occurs about 2-3 months into its use and seems to be brought on by changing one cartridge. Technical support recognise that there is a fault with apparently no remedy. Fortunately i took out a 3 year guarantee with this and PC World have change the printer. An excellent printer but I would recommend any purchaser to take out an insurance. I am going back for a third but I think this might be the last if the fault occurs again!...

THINK INK!

Advantages: Easily obtainable, good value, recyclable.
Disadvantages: Really just the idea of it not being a genuine new original!

...MY HISTORY WITH INK CARTRIDGES: From the time I bought my first printer, I have really had nothing but problems when it has come to keeping them supplied with ink! The brand named cartridges generally contain less ink for your money and so they need either need replacing more frequently, or you pay considerably more. My first printer, an Epson, was bought along with bottles of refill ink and a syringe to inject each colour into the colour cartridge, and a bottle of black for the other one. The salesman in PC World assured me it was easy? well it was the first time, apart from the mess! then the second time I just flooded the printer, and I had to buy new cartridges. My second printer a Lexmark, had the same thing happen and I eventually scrapped it! Now I have a HP PSE 1317 inkjet 3 in 1, and I love it, but the ink cartridges...

Roger Me Stupid, Cheap Inkjet Cartridges

Advantages: Cheap and Just As Good As Epson

...just slot them into the required slot and you are away. The ink level meters work as well as ever but it is noted that you are not using an Epson cartridge which could affect your warranty. Comparing these babies against the Epson, by printing out a photograph I previously printed using Epson cartridges I can see no visible difference in quality, and there is the same lack of smudging. My only concern being now how long they last when compared to Epson cartridges...... That was easily tested by printing out a copy of my 130 page thesis that my former boss and now emeritus pain in the backside professor wanted a copy of. This takes up about 2/3 of most of the cartridges which was about the same as the Epson printers. So I can safely say that they are an absolute bargain, as they do the same job for half the price. ...Printers are marvellous things when they work!We bought an Epson DX4000 a couple of years ago after problems with our HP printer. It was reduced in Tesco and as it is a photo copier and printer we thought it was a bargain but decided to check out the cost of the cartridges before buying. We have used various makes of cartridges over the years for previous printers but had been having problems and always having to clean to get good printing so we were wasting ink. We got sample size cartridges with the printer but bought a Multipack so we were ready when a replacement was needed. The Multipack has 4 cartridges, 1 of each black, yellow, magenta and cyan. The box is blue with a picture of a Cheetah and is in the Cheetah range, there are other ranges like Monkey. Hummingbird and Seahorse makinh it easy to spot the one you want to buy...

Genuine Epson Ink Black T0481 better or not

Advantages: great photo quality & long print run

...Usually I get through printers like hoovers, every 3 months or so but I must say I have been using an Epson R series printer for the last 4 years and would be looking to replace with another epsom. The quality of print is in many respects down to the printer but if you put cheap ink into the printer then it doesn't matter how great your printer is the result will be poor especially for photo quality. I use both genuine epson ink including the T0481, plus cheaper alternatives and the end result varies tremendously. I have found the depth & vividness of the genuine T0481 not only superior to cheaper immitations but more so the effect it has on different types of media. Tesco Cheap Ink Cartridge

Advantages: Cheap, Does the Job

...I purchasd this this third part ink cartridge whilst out shopping in my local Tesco store for just under £3 which seemed like a bargain so i thought i'd give it a go. I've used other third party ink cartridges in the past so thought i'd try this one out too since Tesco seem to make everything now. As with all third part ink cartidges,the initial prints are good and of acceptable standard considering that they can cost up to 90% less than the genuine original ink cartidiges. However as you print out a few more,mthe quality degrades considerably and you'll also notice that the ink does not last as long as the original ones do. The print outs are also prone to smudging and take ages to dry properly compared to the originals and the ink dries up faster if you haven't used them for a long time. Uses Epson C66 ink cartridges

Advantages: Cheap to buy, Cheap running costs, Good print Quality
Disadvantages: No good for printing on gloss paper

...I bought this printer because my Epson C66 died I paid £43 from ebuyer.com okay it doen't come with a usb cable but most printers don't and you can purchase them from as little as a £1 the D68 is just a C66 with a face lift it the print quality is very good not photo perfect one thing that should be noted is that if you planning to print on gloss paper get Epson R220 or above as when printing on gloss it tends bleed and run but it's very good on photo matt the build quality seems to be as good as the C66 I used about 70 sets of cartridges on my old C66 all none originals except the set that came with it another thing that I really like about this printer is thatthey take the C66 cartridges which are cheaper that buying the D68 cartridges even the compatable ones obviously Epson just change the part numbers to fool people into buying...

T0715 for Epson printers

Advantages: cheaper to buy 4 but can also buy singly
Disadvantages: you have to look around for the cheapest as prices do vary

...We have a very good Epson DX6000 printer. This printer takes 4 separate inks. This comes in handy when just one colour gets low. I know its low because when I go to do some printing I will get a low ink flashing sign come up and it will then show me how much ink is left and roughly how much copying I can do before it finally runs out. It will also tell me which ink is low. I print off a lot of photographs so it is not just the black ink that runs out but the coloured ones as well. When we first had the printer we did notice that some non epson inks were cheaper and we did think of buying them. We were then informed that if we used these on this printer that was still under guarantee they might refuse to honour the guarantee as we had not used their own brand of ink.
