...ink jet printers seem to be the common solution to every home personal computers hard copy situation but buying a cheap printer can work out costlier in the long run. The problem is the cartrages. Even a cheap inkjet printer can be brought for about £40 squid and have quite a decent quality of print but cartrages range from £15 squid to up to £40 and if the whole family are using it on regualar basis they mightent last very long. There are also special paper to buy like glossy for photo's and options to put the printer into a different mode to specialize for photos so these can take up more ink then in draft mode, so its important to look at the whole perspective on what the printer is to be used for and cartridge price before getting one in....

One of The Best Ink-Jet Printers Around!

Advantages: Excellent Quality, Well Made, Good Value For Money

...I have owned a HP 840c for nearly three months and I am delighted overall with the performance of this printer. Previously I had a Lexmark 5000 and the HP840C out performs this in every department. The build quality of the 840C is robust enough to survive in a home or small business environment. The picture quality I find superb, even printing onto average quality inkjet paper. Probably what has impressed me most about this printer in comparison to the Lexmark is the noise level. My only niggle with the printer occurred when I upgraded my computer and I went from a parallel connection on my old machine to a USB connection on my new machine. Advantages: Cheap, easy and fast delivery
Disadvantages: Not official branded refills

...I have been using this on-line supplier for my ink cartridges for about 18 months and have not had any problems whatsoever. I have ordered about 3 or 4 times from them and each visit has seen me conclude my order within a couple of minutes. As soon as you visit the homepage you are asked to type in the make and model of your printer and you will be presented with a choice of different kinds of products available. If your printer is not found you can search by manufacturer to find it, or another printer which is compatible. One handy little feature is that they download a cookie (think it's a cookie) which remembers details like your printer model last time you visited their page. This speeds up the process for future visits. As well as cartridges they sell cleaners, fax refills, ribbons and toner for laser printers too...

THINK INK!

Advantages: Easily obtainable, good value, recyclable.
Disadvantages: Really just the idea of it not being a genuine new original!

...MY HISTORY WITH INK CARTRIDGES: From the time I bought my first printer, I have really had nothing but problems when it has come to keeping them supplied with ink! The brand named cartridges generally contain less ink for your money and so they need either need replacing more frequently, or you pay considerably more. My first printer, an Epson, was bought along with bottles of refill ink and a syringe to inject each colour into the colour cartridge, and a bottle of black for the other one. The salesman in PC World assured me it was easy? well it was the first time, apart from the mess! then the second time I just flooded the printer, and I had to buy new cartridges. My second printer a Lexmark, had the same thing happen and I eventually scrapped it! Now I have a HP PSE 1317 inkjet 3 in 1, and I love it, but the ink cartridges...

Miami Ink!

Advantages: Interesting to watch, loads of cool tattoos to look at

...Miami Ink, if you haven't heard about it already, is a TV show about a tattoo parlour in Miami (if you hadn't already guessed!). The series began in July 2005, introducing four eager tattooists, Ami James, Chris Nunez, Chris Garver and Darren Brass, as well as Ami's apprentice, Yoji Harada. Throughout the episodes new tattooists enter and go, the most famous probably being Kat Von D who turned the studio around with her beautiful portrait tattoos. Each show lasts about an hour long, and during that time we see a variety of clients enter the studio to get their tattoos. The guys who run/work in the studio are all fairly young, heavily tattooed and have been through different walks of life. Most of them have spent their lives tattooing, so working in the shop you can tell means a lot to them. Each artist has a different personality...

The printer came with a colour cartridge which I must warn you are more expensive than the printers which makes me wonder why as it is far much cheaper to keep buying a new printer each time you run out of ink, I was fortunate enough to have some cartridges left over from my previous Lexmark printer which fit this one but when they are finished I am certainly not going to spend more than the printer is worth for new cartridges even thought I like the printer very much, My only regret is not buying a couple of the printers at the time but who knows they may still be around. There is also an ink level indicator that comes on screen when you are printing to let you know how much ink you have left. Lexmark Z32 ink jet printer

Advantages: Excellent quality printing
Disadvantages: Cartridges a bit pricy unless you shop around.

...After plodding along for 4 1/2 years with a old olivetti JP 170s I treated myself to a Lexmark Z32 ink jet printer. It was like trading in a banger for a Rolls Royce. The Lexmark Z32 was easy to install via manufactures cd rom and run very quietly indeed. It cost me £119 via mail order. It will print 8 pages of text per minute at 600dpi and although colour takes a bit longer the quality is excellent. I print off alot of pictures from the net for my wife and when using glossy paper at 1200dpi the finished product is equal to the real thing. So good we have framed several. The paper storage will hold up to 100 sheets depending on thickness. The instruction manual was set out very simply with all of the instructions very easy to follow. The cartridges are a bit pricy at around £25 BUT after searching the net I found compatable...

After much debate, my boss went out on a whim - without our IT honcho - and bought the CP4005dn - which, as it had toners instead of cartridge - he rationalised that it couldn't possibly go through the ink as fast and, according to him, was pretty darned fast and was obviously highly sought after as it had sold out in the shop, but they would deliver one to him. This was a bad idea since my boss knew as much about printers as I do about his collection of Johnny Hallyday CDs (in other words, you know what its function is, but other than that not very much). Still, misgivings aside, we awaited its arrival with baited breath. On Monday, a lovely delivery guy buzzed saying 'parcel', which my colleague duly signed for, only for the delivery guy to disappear on us saying it was outside? oh my. What a sight!
