...The cost of inkjet cartridges is something that is close to my heart, and if I were to buy genuine Epson cartridges for my Epson Stylus D68 then it would cost me £25. This is an extortionate figure when you consider that that is half the cost of the printer!!!!!! So always on the hunt for a bargain I scoured the length and breadth of upper brook street in Manchester to find a suitable generic cartridge. The Mac and PC centre round the back of the Manchester Aquatic Centre had just that these babies cost me £12 for all four......... The E611 (Black), E612 (Cyan), E613 (Magenta), E614 (Yellow) fit Epson Stylus D68 / D88 series and DX3800/ DX3850/ DX4200 / DX4800/ DX4850 printers and at £3 a piece they have the potential for being a veritable bargain, which floats my Scottish boat. ...Inkjet cartridges are very expensive, particularly so for Hewlett Packard printers, although I am sure that most makes of printer have equally expensive cartridges. You can get the Hewlett Packard printers at very competitive prices now, and I have a Deskjet 710c, which has been replaced by newer models, nevertheless I think it is a good quality printer, quiet, and the print quality is crisp and clear. The only downside to this printer for me, is the cost of new inkjet cartridges, and I do tend to run out fairly often, as I am always printing information which I find on the web, apart from the fact my grandchildren also like to print stuff too! The cost of a new HP cartridge is around £27 for a tri colour cartridge and £21 for a black cartridge. In an attempt to save money I purchased a recycled colour cartridge from PC World...

Advantages: Cheaper Ink for most Brands

...I found www.ink2u.co.uk via an opinion by davegroom here on Ciao and decided that I would have a look when we needed some ink in a hurry and had found that the cartridges for our Lexmark Z12 wouldn’t refill properly with the ink that I had purchased. The site itself is really easy to navigate. From the home page you select the brand of printer that you have and then select the model of the printer. This then brings up all the products in stock for your specific printer. As I said, we have a Lexmark Z12 and have found the cartridges to be between £25 and £30 in our local shops, if they have them in stock. At ink2u.co.uk the remanufactured cartridges are £16.95 for Black and £18.95 for a colour, or £34.40 for the two, so we ordered them on Sunday night. They arrived on Tuesday morning - now that’s what I call service...

...Like many people I find the cost of new printer ink cartridges too expensive. I have tried the alternative route of buying refurbished ones where empty cartridges are cleaned, refilled and resold. My opinion, don?t waste your money. The simple reason is the cartridge?s metal contacts are very delicate and are made useless by taking them in and out of the printer numerous times. If you get a well used refurbished cartridge it simply won?t work or packs up after a few days, I know this from painful and expensive experience. A better idea which I now use you may want to try, is refilling your own cartridges. Nothing new in that you say but I fill them in situ and it extends the cartridge life considerably. You will need either a colour inkjet refill kit or a black inkjet refill kit or both obviously depending on your needs. JR...

Oki toner cartridge - Professional, excellent quality printing.

Advantages: Professional quality. Simple to change, good colour
Disadvantages: Expensive, not sure if it is recyclable

...I have been using the Oki toner cartridges for apporximately 12 months. In my opinion the quality is fantastic, clear and precise. When a notice pops up telling me to replace the cartridge it can be ignored for quite a considerable time, even when running low on certain colours I have still found that the quality is good. When the time comes that the colour reproduction is not good enough then as long it is not for an important document I have found that by just simply removing the cartridge, shaking it about a bit and replacing it, it can bring the colour back to life and will add extra life to it.On the whole I feel it produces professional print quality. I think it is an expensive item but have not compared the longevity against an alternative product....

But, when the time to change the ink cartridge comes, it makes us think things, because as I have observed that the price of a new ink cartridge equals to 1/3 of the price of the printer itself! It is the fact! As an alternative, fortunately we could buy the cartridge refills though refilling a cartridge is not recommended by printer-manufacturers. That is why, we always hear that refilling a cartridge might cause a damage on the cartridge. It is also the main reason why most ordinary inkjet printers are not expensive nowadays as the manufacturers could earn more profit from their customers? purchasing on their ink cartridges. For my 50th Birthday, my Family kindly clubbed together and bought me a computer, not a new one, just a basic second hand model with windows 98, but it did me a treat, it had no speakers, or printer with it, but I found a pair of compatible speakers at a car boot for £1.00. My Sister had an old Hewlett Packard DeskJet 600 printer in her garage, which she kindly gave me. This is just a black printer, (not colour) and as there was no ink cartridge in this printer, I promptly went out to buy one?
