A Horrible Fax Machine!

...I warn my readers that this could be a raging review since I just threw this fax machine into the bin. Not only it costed me more than £30 two years ago but for the little times I've needed it it hardly worked properly. This morning I was trying to send a fax and the paper kept jamming into the rolls... but let's proceed in order. This Olivetti Fax-Lab is one of those product that you always see in offer (and for a reason), a couple of years ago they costed even up to £60-£70 but I found mine with a 40% discount so, since I often needed to fax documents and stuff like that, I bought it without second thoughts Later on I found out that I didn't need to fax documents SO often to justify purchasing a fax machine but still, it has been useful sometimes. eFax.com - Definately the best free fax service

...eFax.com is definately the best free fax to e-mail service around today. I presently have two free fax numbers with them. One is a USA fax number and one is a UK fax number. Since I do business with some companies in the States it works out cheaper for them to send me faxes on a local USA fax number. They are incredibly fast. Just to test it out I sent a fax to my own number and checked my e-mail after just 30 seconds and presto it was in my Inbox. It's really easy to download the viewer from their site. Another plus point is that you can send this fax as an e-mail to others or save as a file just at the click of a button. ...ink jet printers seem to be the common solution to every home personal computers hard copy situation but buying a cheap printer can work out costlier in the long run. The problem is the cartrages. Even a cheap inkjet printer can be brought for about £40 squid and have quite a decent quality of print but cartrages range from £15 squid to up to £40 and if the whole family are using it on regualar basis they mightent last very long. There are also special paper to buy like glossy for photo's and options to put the printer into a different mode to specialize for photos so these can take up more ink then in draft mode, so its important to look at the whole perspective on what the printer is to be used for and cartridge price before getting one in....

...Inkjet cartridges are very expensive, particularly so for Hewlett Packard printers, although I am sure that most makes of printer have equally expensive cartridges. You can get the Hewlett Packard printers at very competitive prices now, and I have a Deskjet 710c, which has been replaced by newer models, nevertheless I think it is a good quality printer, quiet, and the print quality is crisp and clear. The only downside to this printer for me, is the cost of new inkjet cartridges, and I do tend to run out fairly often, as I am always printing information which I find on the web, apart from the fact my grandchildren also like to print stuff too! The cost of a new HP cartridge is around £27 for a tri colour cartridge and £21 for a black cartridge. In an attempt to save money I purchased a recycled colour cartridge from PC World...

Good quality A3 Inkjet Printer

Advantages: Fast A4 & A3 printing, good quality from HP

great value for money

The samsung is also nice and compact and well-designed: it looks like it cost a lot more than the £200-odd it actually does cost. In fact this nearly put us off buying it as we thought it might disguise a shoddy product but we were wrong. Furthermore, it's an ink-jet which means that the ink lasts a lot longer than on faxes that use that funny carbon-paper roll stuff (again, our old fax was one of these). In fact we haven't had to change the ink cartridge yet, so I'm afraid I don't know exactly how much they cost, but I'm assuming they're comparable to the price of printer ink-jet cartridges. As with many of these things, it also functions as a copier and you can change the size/ darkness setting on the output: generally very useful. The downside...

Samsung SF3100T for under 200 pounds

...Yes, its really true. If you have an e-mail account you can also benefit from a fax facility. All you need to do is sign up with www.yac.com. They will give you a free number - starting 0709 - (and which can also be used for voice calls and an answering service) which can be used for faxes. Your received faxes are sent on to you by e-mail and appear in a .tif file for you to save or print. The cost of sending faxes is not too high - about the same as calling a mobile phone so it is not prohibitive. One of the real beauties is that your fax is available 24/7/365 - no need for an extra line! If you have a fax driver for your PC's modem and a scanner you can completely dispense with the need for a fax machine.
