The once liked public conveyance had been taking lots of deep hits in the last decades. Even a rethinking and relaunch lasts very long or often is cancelled. So it is favourable that the Streetcar in Innsbruck has been surviving without greater problems since 1905. Does what it says on the tin!

Advantages: Age, very interesting
Disadvantages: Not that much to see!

...All the books and guides say that the Goldenes Dachl is a must when visiting Innsbruck. And while I agree to some extent, you have to remember not to get too disappointed by the fact that for an attraction it is very small. HISTORY: The house where the roof is situated was built in around 1420 by Archduke Fredrick IV. By the end of the 15th century the house was in the hands of the Emperor Maximilian I. In 1500 he ordered that the balcony, complete with golden roof, be constructed in honour of his second marriage to Bianca Maria Sforza of Milan. It was built by the court architect Niclas Turing From the balcony he could look out over the square below and watch dancing and tournaments. Fantastic Hotel

Advantages: Immaculate rooms, polite and courteous staff
Disadvantages: Bathroom became rather hot and damp

...Spent three nights at the Europa Tyrol, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The hotel is located opposite to the main station in Innsbruck and is only a short walk to the shops and the Golden Roof which is at the heart of the city. The hotel is actually connected to the main railway via a tunnel which offers exclusive use for guests. The rooms were immaculate, and very nicely furnished. My room had a typical Tyrolean feel which resembled a log cabin. The rooms were rather compact, however were sufficient. The bathroom was quite large and had a bath/ shower. My room however did not seem to have any ventilation in the bathroom and it did become rather damp and hot. The bedroom was air conditioned which due to the lovely weather was a godsend. The staff were all polite and would tend to every need. The bar area was clean...

A jewel of the Tirol

Advantages: Wonderful, gorgeous scenery
Disadvantages: Nightlife is pretty quiet

...I'd never even heard of Innsbruck when I embarked on my European tour in 2002. My good friend I was travelling with was wanting to visit on account of her parents' recommendations, so I agreed and was pleasantly surprised. Innsbruck is simply one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Surrounded by the Alps on one side and the Tuxer mountain range on the other, it is quite impossible to avoid turning a corner in this small city without confronting yet another breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks. The city has a very relaxed feel, befitting a locale with only just over 100,000 inhabitants. This is never more in evidence than at the Hauptbahnhof (train station) which looks more like an outer suburb stop than a main disembarkation point. What a wonderful place to visit

Advantages: beautiful architechture, loads to see and do
Disadvantages: none

...I got married in Austria in June of this year, and whilst there we visited Innsbruck. What a wonderful city (and country)! The streets are clean, no graffitti to be seen, no kids hanging round on the streets. Everyone was friendly (unlike our own cities here!), and very helpful. I went to the information office first (I love those places!!), got a map of the city and was amazed at how much there is to see and do! Unfortunately, we only had one day, so we made the most of it. First stop was St Jacobs's cathedral, a beautiful building, built around 1720. On the way there we passed St Anna's Column, a monument set in the middle of the huge main street, erected in 1706 in thanks to support during the War of the Spanish Succession. Seefeld wonderful Seefeld

Advantages: Too easy to fall in love with the place
Disadvantages: you have a home to go to !!

...Seefeld has to be one of the best places to be in the Austrian Tirol, it is suited best to people of any age. mobility is't a problem for people staying in Seefeld as most of it is on a good level despite being in the middle of the Mountains. You can do just about any sport you want in Seefeld from swimming to Downhill skiing, still has its Olympic Ski Jump on show, lots going on at night time with all sorts of events going on Winter and Summer. Seefeld is an ideal centre for driving or non-driving holidays there are Post bus links to other towns in the Tirol and a regula direct rail service to Innsbruck and Munich, eith Innsbruck Airport only a 2o - 30 minute road journey away.. Seefeld is superbly situated for walking tours, or travelling further afield in your car, with Bavaria only a few miles away it is possible to drive...

Bolzano-Bozen The best of Italy and Austria combined

Advantages: Charming place - Lots to do in winter and summer
Disadvantages: a bit far away from the international airports of Munich, Milan etc.

...than enough to fill a short stay. In winter you can do alpine and nordic skiing nearby. Speak German or Italian, if you can ? most locals are bilingual. Innsbruck is the closest airport, but only offers limited flights from the UK....
