Inspiron 1501 A Disappointment

Advantages: Fast, Looks Good, Low Price
Disadvantages: Noisy, Hot, Suddenly Stops, Skips Letters When Typing

...The Inspiron 1501 is fast, looks good and has a nice wide screen, BUT I regret buying it. Why? Because It is NOISY ... VERY NOISY. The fan runs continually and sometimes even kicks into a higher gear, sounding like a running motor. It makes concentrating on what you're doing difficult sometimes. It gets hot within 5 mins. In fact, it gets VERY hot after just 15 mins. I have to shut it off and let it cool down every 40 mins. or so. Should have known this would happen since it is metal and has the big screen! It sometimes just quits, putting up a grey and blue striped screen. All you can do is turn it off and reboot. This has not only happened when it's hot either. The regular type is too light, the bold type is too dark. There's no happy inbetween, just like the audio. Some letters skip as you're typing, meaning yor...

Inspiring Inspiron from Dell

Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor
Disadvantages: The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.

...a built-in webcam but this feature is available on some models. The one thing we haven't tested is the battery life - Dell claim it's 2 hours however. As my daughter hasn't removed it from her bedroom since she got it I cannot tell you for sure. As she just recently broke the screen on my Samsung laptop, resulting in a large repair bill, she is probably too scared to move this one! I am really pleased with the Dell Inspiron 1545 and think it's a really good buy for children or students as it's easy to use, fast to load and has a large hard drive but is available at a good price for the spec offered. I do advise getting some half decent speakers to use with it however and cleaning it regularly - the piano black doesn't half attract the dust and show up fingerprints. Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop

Advantages: Cheap, good brand, lots of features,
Disadvantages: Probably not powerful enough for games, bottom of the market now

...family's files were lost in the reinstall, so I didn't even have to restore things from backup. Like other Inspiron laptops, the computer feels reasonably solid, weighing about 2.5kg. The finish is very shiny and doesn't feel cheap. The TrueLife screen offers excellent viewing quality, but is very reflective. I found the widescreen ratio to be a little bit hard to get used to - the screen is shorter and wider, so you have to page down more often. The computer connected easily to the wireless router, which was just as well because the Ethernet port came loose after only a few months. The battery life wasn't fantastic, but if you mainly use it plugged in, then this isn't an issue. The keyboard was much like any other laptop keyboard - obviously the keys don't go down as far as a regular keyboard that comes with a desktop and sound a bit clicky...

Well presented keyboard, mouse pad is easy to use, bnattery life can be a bit short on the standard battery, but a longer life battery is avaliable from most good stockist If your looking for a good laptop for cheap try this one, i got mine on Ebay new with a one year warranty for £200...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - very reliable, ideal for a student

Advantages: Great Performance, Attractive cover, brilliant screen quality
Disadvantages: Smudges around keyboard, poor battery life

Dell Inspiron 1545 - tried and tested for 6 months

Advantages: Easy to use, perfect for storing vast amounts of data, very big hard drive!

The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!

Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about

...The Dell inspiron laptop has an attractive classy look, it has a simplistic stream-line look. When I take it out its case I feel good about it because its not a big bulky embarassing computer thing. However, if your one for keeping everything clean and tidy and no smudges anywhere, then maybe you might be irritated by this laptop. With its glossy look smudges, smears and fingerprints stand out like a sore thumb. You feel like your constantly wiping it. You also have to watch what you wipe the laptop with as it is quite easy to scratch. A better idea for Dell would be to provide a cloth to clean it with, one they know wont damage your laptop. It would be a real bummer to scratch it while cleaning it. I also decided to get the colour black because there wasnt a lot of colours to choose from which I found quite dissapointing as...

...The first good thing about this laptop is that it’s a dell. Dell are a huge computing company, and are the biggest name around. The only bad thing about them is that you can usually only buy online. This is easy and your laptop should be delivered to your door within a week, however its not so good if you cant see a laptop before you buy it, so this is one thing that puts me of buying a laptop online. With dell, you do get great customer service, they promise to fix your laptop if it breaks and give you a new one if they cant fix it.
