...University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) has been a university since 1998. It was formerly known as Cardiff Institute of Higher Education, Llandaff Technical College and years before that it was the college for Mariners. UWIC quickly gained an award for excellence. UWIC has four sites across the city. Each campus has many different schools. Colchester Avenue- Catering and Hospitality. Howard Gardens- Art. Cyncoed- Teaching and Sport. Bolton Institute

Advantages: Good close knit community
Disadvantages: Not as high profile as some would like, still struggling to recieve university status

...I spent four long enjoyable years studying at Bolton Institute. The course I was studying involved a year in industry if your wondering why four years and not three. In my time at Bolton I studied for a degree in Civil Engineering. I started my industrial training year and ended up getting a full time job, thus I had to complete my fianl year through day release. This was allowed due to the flexibility of Institute and the wide variety of courses and modes of study available. At the time Bolton was one of the only places that offered both full time, sandwich and part time courses in Civil Engineering. Bolton itself it a great little town, close to the big city amenities of Manchester and yet everything you need is here in the town itself. Review of Bolton Institute

A great institution

Advantages: A really, funny and clever novel
Disadvantages: Too clever by half

...Gore Vidals novels are probably best described as quirky. My mum finds them unreadable so that should warn you not to expect a normal read. Instead you can expect a funny, clever and very readable (in my opinion) novel. The Smithsonian Institution is about a boy called T and his talent for Quantum Physics. He is invited to the Smithsonian to help develop the atom bomb and there finds that he can move through time. This results in an effort to save his own life (he is going to die in the war) an attempt to prevent the world war and plenty of sex. The sex part is obvious by the cover but is unusual in that T finds himself playing around with Squaw,who happens to be Mrs Cleveland, the wife of a former president. This is because the Smithsonian exhibits come alive when the museum closes and have lifes of their own. Hence...

Mental Institute

Advantages: Great sense of community and helpful, approachable tutors and staff.
Disadvantages: It is called an 'institute'!!

...I am currently studying at Bolton Institute and so this is an extremely valid opinion! First of all, I hate the fact that it is called an 'institute'. I hate saying that I go there coz it makes me sound mental!! It doesn't quite have the same ring as a 'university.' However, it IS a university. Bolton Institute has two campuses, Deane Campus and Chadwick Campus (which I am on). These campuses are both in the dingiest parts of Bolton, imaginable, although this doesn't actually affect the great sense of community that the institute has to offer. I am a Bolton girl myself and so travel in everyday, therefore don't really get the feel of university life that I would if I lived on Campus. However, many of my friends there live on Campus and all rave about it! They all always seem to be up to something most of the time! It sounds...

North American Studying

Advantages: Strong academic programmes, good extra-curricular activities

...I attended Indiana Institute of Technology (Tech) from September 1987 to May 1991 where I attained a BS in Computer Science. Tech is a small private university in north eastern Indiana in the United States. Tech provides many degree options and has particularly strong Computer Science and Business programmes (now offerring an MBA programme as well). If you are wondering about the student population, it is a good mix of American and international students which provides a very diverse student culture. Tech offers many extra-curricular activities such as intercollegiate sports as well as fraternities and sorrorities. American fraternaties provide a great environment for building life long friends and gaining life experiences (they have good parties as well). My fraternity brothers are closer to me than most of my family...

The best technology gadget out at the moment!

Advantages: Brilliant interface, Excellent apps and capabilities, simple to use
Disadvantages: Crashes quite a lot if you are doing a couple of things

...from the app store which is great if you have very little money! ;) I have had this ipod for nearly a year and i have had no problems with it apart from the frequent crashes when using safari. Another problem is that you need to buy a protective casing because the metal piece on the back gets easily scratched which gets really annoying! Overall, this is the best technology gadget i have ever had and does a hell of a lot, i can't recommend it enough! Summary: I would recommmend to absolutely everybody!...

Fundamentals of motor vehicle technology

Advantages: fantastic guide, brilliant in depth explainations very thorough

...I am aspiring Motorsport engineering undergraduate and i have found Hilliers book of fundamentals of motor vehicle technology (part one) priceless in teaching me about the anatomy of a car. It gives in excellent detail everything my inquiring mind has needed in the build up to my course. It begins with the very basics reasoning why chassis are like they are, why the drive is at the back in most cars, why steering is only for front wheels etc, and leads very well into more complex components. A British Institution!

Advantages: 4 fingers of fun
Disadvantages: ONLY 4 fingers of fun!

...Kit Kats are a British institution and have been with us since 1935! Little has changed with the product over the years but these days are now packaged in a single plastic wrapper, sealed at both ends. Years ago they used to be wrapped directly in thin silvery foil and the entire foil package was wrapped again with a paper sleeve bearing the brand logo and coloured in the familiar red. It used to be quite a satisfying experience to run a finger nail along a groove in the foil, tearing it before snapping the individual finger off for consumption. It also stopped fingers coming into direct contact with melty chocolate. I'm not quite sure why the decision was made to change the packing but I imagine it had something to do with efficiency and profit margin. Or maybe it was done for reasons of hygiene? Kit Kat poisoning must have been rife...
