Thanks for your help A J Insurance
Advantages: Covered my car when no other insurer would
Disadvantages: Relatively expensive as such a limited market
...When I returned to the UK from a 2 year work contract in France I brought home with me a Renault Clio 1.2 RT (left hand drive) which I'd bought and insured in France. I had not anticipated how difficult it would be to insure and register the car in the UK. First I approached the DVLA-they couldn't register the car without proof of UK insurance-the French policy I had would not do! So I started ringing round all the usual suspects for quotes-only to find that none of them would insure my car until it was registered in the UK. Hours of giving the same details over and over again only to be told at the last knockings they couldn't insure my car. Hang on-can't register it without insurance-can't insure it until it's registered ??? Aaarrrgghh!! I found my way to the British Insurance Brokers Association, who recommended me to a broker called...

Pet insurance
Advantages: Peace of mind
Disadvantages: none so far
...the best thing to do was have him castrated at the vets.
After spending money on his injections when he was younger and worming tablets and his regular check ups at the vets, she decided to buy pet insurance.
I have a car policy with Endsleigh and have been happy with them for a few years so we checked out the pet insurance with them.
It?s a costly thing to have a dog as vet fees are not cheap. The castration of a dog costs £180 at our local vets, add this to the worming tablets, regular check ups of weight and health when they are growing up and their injections and your looking at more than £ 400.
This is without including any ailments that they might have in their life to come.
We bought a policy from Endsleigh for £112.09 a year.
You may think this sounds a lot but it is broken down into monthly payments which can be paid by...

Swinton Car Insurance - Nice and Easy
Advantages: Price, Local Branch, Claims
Disadvantages: None so far
...Why choose Swinton Insurance!
It was the dreaded time for me to look for car insurance again as per usual I check all the price comparison websites. Swinton came up the cheapest on two of them, so I decided to go direct to their own website to see what price was available and read a bit more about them.
The main reasons I decided to go with Swinton was:
*Competitive price ? Some £38 cheaper than the next best price and over £50 cheaper than my renewal price.
*Local Shops ? I am one of these people who try to keep local companies open, well Swinton has office up and down the country so rather than call the dreaded call centre you can call the local shop.
*Cash back ? As usual I always check the cash back sites, and to my delight Swinton was on Quidco. So when I taken the policy out online I got any additional £50 cash...

V insurance . .
Advantages: Seems a good policy.
Disadvantages: Let me down, just once.
...Vauxhall Insurance, is now underwritten by UK insurance Ltd, although it used to be another company, I will not name them, and certainly won't recommend them either.
I was insured by them for quite a number of years, until it came to renewing the policy that is. well, in the past I have always had the insurance automatically renewed every year without doing a thing. And this year proved to be the opposite, they just didn't renew it, and the first thing I knew was when I wanted to tax my car, and found that my policy had expired!
I rang the helpline, which was answered very quickly, and got the confirmation I had asked for. The voice simply said "You are not insured with us" This amazed me, after being covered by them for years, it turned out tjhey did not renew for no apparent reason. I of course needed insurance, so went to one...

Privilege Insurance - Apalling and inefficient customer service
Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Poor service generally; pedantic; lack of response to complaints; ridiculous hold times
...I had always driven Company Cars until last November when I was made redundant and purchased my own car and insurance for the first time. Privilege were the cheapest quote I found.
I set up the policy on line and was advised that I could have a no claims discount if I provided proof from my previous employer's insurer that I had made no claims. I requested this via my employer but it was not forthcoming and I contacted Privilege in Jan 09 to advise them that I had not deliberately 'overlooked' this but was having difficulty due to the redundancy circumstances. They then cancelled my policy in February. At this point I was fairly sanguine as I had not provided the proof. I reinstated the policy with zero no claims on the understanding that when I managed to obtain proof of no claims I would receive a backdated refund of the difference...

NOT the CHeapest - but CHeerful Motor Insurance
Advantages: 5% discount for online quotes, easy to apply, competitive premiums, helpful staff
Disadvantages: need to get letter for NCD proof, (not available in R.O.I or Northern Ireland)
...looking for fully comprehensive cover, for a 2.0L engine car (Group13-14 Insurance Group). Fortunately I have always had ‘protected’ NCD so my previous accident/claim did not make any difference to my premium.
I tried about 8 different insurance companies ranging from my previous insurers CGNU (Norwich Union), Axa, AA (very expensive!), Prudential, Churchill, Eagle Star and Direct Line. These premiums ranged from £580 -£800, but Direct Line - turned out to be cheapest quote (£440)- but following a poor customer service and numerous errors I decided to cancel that Policy (see opinion).
Tesco’s Insurance Quote and Cover

Although I had a competitive quote from Direct Line [DL] I was dissatisfied with the level of customer service and knowledge. I was pleasantly surprised...

Swinton Car Insurance
Advantages: Easy to contact, good website, good value
Disadvantages: None whatever
...It's that time of year again - just after Christmas co-incides with when I bought my car (off my mum!) last year having just passed my driving test. Bit embarrassing leaving it so long, but money was tight and the busses were good to and from work .....
Anyway, went through Moneysupermarket.com to find a suitable insurer for my 2nd year on the road and came across Swinton. They were not the cheapest on the list for my circumstances, but they did offer everything I needed (plus legal cover as an option) and £50 cash-back after the policy has been in place for 90 days which made it cheaper than the other options anyway.
Their website was easy to navigate and make the appropriate payment and the confirmation page came up with useful details like the address and telephone number of the nearest Swinton office. The only thing that...

Orange Insurance - Brilliant
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: The £15 "admin" fee
...I had my contract phones covered with Orange insurance for 3 years and in that space of time i had 2 phones replaced. 1 stolen, 1 damaged.
On the occasion that my phone was stolen i had to pay a £15 admin fee which was probably the only pain with this cover. But on the 2nd occasion because the phone was damaged through no fault of my own they didn't ask this of me.
The claim took about 10mins & once i'd given over all the information I always had my new phone with me within 1-2 working days & that was all for £5 a month on top of my bill.
I wanted a Nokia N96 and Orange were charging alot. So I got my upgrade via carphone warehouse, which means I can't take advantage of Orange Insurance and Carphone were asking for £14 a month for insurance so i haven't bothered this time....

Free Insurance
Advantages: Price, service, friendliness, efficiency
Disadvantages: Awful hold music!!!
...I received 2 years worth of insurance with Privilege when I purchased my new Nissan in the Summer of 1999. And mightily impressed with them I have been.
Obviously I have no premium to pay but when I asked them for a quote ready for when my free insurance ran out they were easily the best quote I received.
My insurance package from Nissan allowed me to add up to £1,000 of extras to my car, and notifying them was a quick and painless experience. A quick phone call to their 0800 number, telling them what was being added, and handing over my debit card number for an administration fee of £40 and it was all done and dusted. No problems at all. My new documentation was sent out immediately and was in my arms within 48 hours.
Having an accident is where you can really find out about the company who insures you. My car was...

I insured my pussy.
Advantages: A great company to deal with.
Disadvantages: None.
...At the moment I do not have a pet of any sort but for a long time I had a cat, I got her when she was just a kitten and I adored her but like any animal including us humans, she got old and sadly passed away.
Keeping any animal can be costly and when they start to get old then it becomes a vey costly time with vet bills especially, that is why you should take out pet insurance and if I were you I would take it out with Direct Line.
When I took out my pet insurance with them I did so online and it could not have been easier, the website is very clear and simple to use and navigate. In order to avoid the dodgier people amongst us taking out a policy 24 hours or so before we know our animal is going to need an expensive trip to the vets, Direct Line have a 14 day waiting period after you take out your policy.
I took my policy...
