Reviews of insurance group 2
Never judge this insurance by its cover.
Review of Provident Insurance PLC by
Ryanscool
Advantages: They seemed like a good deal.
Disadvantages: When I tried to change the car in cover, they pumped up the insurance group, and the price
...To start, I will set the scene,
I was 18,
This was my first ever insurance,
I shopped long and hard, and these where marginally cheaper....
£1,200 on a group 3 car! - 1.2 Fait Punto
It all went through, they where very happy to take my money, no finance, I had the cash, so I paid in one.
My car, as most first cars, was cheap, nasty, Failed the MOT, so I need to change it, I got a 1.3 ford fiesta, and that's where all the trouble started, I'd been driving for approx 6 months then, the fiesta was group 4 insurance, so I thought, or at least was to every other company, including parkers guide. They said it was Group 5.
They charged me £89 to change the car on the insurance!!
That's just silly, but having no other choice (which they full knew) I changed it over and paid the money.
Time progressed, and as 11 months filled in, I bought...

Thanks for your help A J Insurance
Review of A.J.Insurance Group by
sith76
Advantages: Covered my car when no other insurer would
Disadvantages: Relatively expensive as such a limited market
...When I returned to the UK from a 2 year work contract in France I brought home with me a Renault Clio 1.2 RT (left hand drive) which I'd bought and insured in France. I had not anticipated how difficult it would be to insure and register the car in the UK. First I approached the DVLA-they couldn't register the car without proof of UK insurance-the French policy I had would not do! So I started ringing round all the usual suspects for quotes-only to find that none of them would insure my car until it was registered in the UK. Hours of giving the same details over and over again only to be told at the last knockings they couldn't insure my car. Hang on-can't register it without insurance-can't insure it until it's registered ??? Aaarrrgghh!! I found my way to the British Insurance Brokers Association, who recommended me to a broker called...

VERY IMPORTANT WARNING - DO NOT IGNORE
Review of Member Advice on Travel Insurance by
CareBear
Advantages: Travelling with insurance gives you peace of mind
Disadvantages: At the moment you may have an invalid policy
...) but would not be covered for anything else without taking out a separate policy.
If you have a policy bought through any of the following brokers you must take action:
Atlas Travel Insurance;
Hamilton Barr;
Jardine Lloyd Thompson;
Journey Travel Insurance;
Ketteridge Group;
Matthew Gerrard;
Insurance Group Ltd and
Travel Protection Group.
You should call your broker and see whether you have a valid policy. Lloyd's themselves have also set up a helpline on 0800-917 5971 open between 0930 and 1730 daily.
Never travel without valid insurance. You may get sick and it is far easier to get treatment if you have a copy of your policy to hand. You may be delayed or lose your luggage and need assistance. Potentially far more damaging though is your loss of liability cover. If you hire a bike and have an accident you could find yourself...

Review of AXA Direct by
firelighter
Advantages: cheap, easy, online car insurance
Disadvantages: none if you can satisfy terms
...of the axa group of companies, and are a world class insurer. They manage more than £395 billion of assets for 40 million customers in 60 countries. In the uk, they are 2nd largest provider of health insurance, 3rd largest for general insurance, and 4th largest for life insurance. Their products include household insurance and pensions and investments.
How to do it?, simply visit axamotor.co.uk and fill in the form online. It's really easy and only takes a few minutes to get to the final screen and your quote. Enter your name and postcode and they will come up with your address for you to confirm, after that it's only a matter of entering your particular requirements to tailor the quote to your needs. The questions are either yes/no, or have drop down menus. Once you have your quote, you can then change some details to see what...

NOT the CHeapest - but CHeerful Motor Insurance
Review of Tesco Insurance by
Connoisseur_Haggler
Advantages: 5% discount for online quotes, easy to apply, competitive premiums, helpful staff
Disadvantages: need to get letter for NCD proof, (not available in R.O.I or Northern Ireland)
...comprehensive cover, for a 2.0L engine car (Group13-14 Insurance Group). Fortunately I have always had ‘protected’ NCD so my previous accident/claim did not make any difference to my premium.
I tried about 8 different insurance companies ranging from my previous insurers CGNU (Norwich Union), Axa, AA (very expensive!), Prudential, Churchill, Eagle Star and Direct Line. These premiums ranged from £580 -£800, but Direct Line - turned out to be cheapest quote (£440)- but following a poor customer service and numerous errors I decided to cancel that Policy (see opinion).
Tesco’s Insurance Quote and Cover
-------------------------------------
Although I had a competitive quote from Direct Line [DL] I was dissatisfied with the level of customer service and knowledge. I was pleasantly surprised at the very helpful staff operating...

Wow - what a choice!
Review of Help Insure Me Motor Insurance by
toffeeboy
Advantages: A wide range of products available.
Disadvantages: UK only, can be time consuming.
...or over 85, you'll find links to get quotes online. To save time you'll see instantly who'll quote for which age groups, how many additional drivers each will accept, what cover is available (comprehensive, third party fire & theft or third party only) and who will accept monthly payments. They also tell you who offers online discounts!
They really do seem to have researched the net to get almost every eventuality covered - they even have found one insurer offering 12 equal payments with no deposit - useful if you're a bit strapped for cash, and have policies where you can even print your own cover notes immediately - really useful if tax is needed quickly to avoid that £80 instant fine!
They also offer quotes for classic cars, Japanese & American imports, Kit cars, modified cars. They also have a seperate page for young drivers insurance...

Mondeo Man
Review of Ford Mondeo 1.8 TD by
bazza1603
Advantages: Nice car to drive, Prices are coming down for below average examples
Disadvantages: Very hard to do any kind of DIY work on
...not drive anywhere as good as they petrol counterparts which are far more lively.
Today Ive had it in for an MOT to find it failed on two rusty brake pipes( easy to fix), back lights because of a wiring fault and a leak in the power steering rack which I already knew about so Im quite happy even when I know its a complete pig to change the racks. I was worried about engine smoke as it does seem bad, but it passed the omissions test so Im very happy.I forget that Turbo diesels are normally smokey anyway.
The car drives very well, and I find I can get a good seating position bacause of the tilt and slide steering colulm and the height ajustable drivers seat.
One thing that was upset me, is that I drove a Ford Escort which was a group 6 and now Im on the Mondeo which is a group 8. Im shocked that a rise of 2 groups has resulted in a rise of £210...

More Than Just An Insurance Company!
Review of Direct Line Insurance plc by
Andy0304
Advantages: Huge Range Of Services, Value For Money, Great Service
Disadvantages: None At All
...in my mind. This would save me the job of having to do this later on. They also at that point took the details of the other driver involved and their insurance details. Once we had completed all this they noted all the details of the present state of my car and said not to worry someone would be along to recover it. Sure enough within 45 minutes of my phone call to them a recovery truck turned up and took my car to a local garage about half an hour drive away.
OK, so they had taken my car, but what now? I was definitely not a fan of walking! So the following day I gave Direct Line a call from work and asked them what the process was reference a courtesy car, once again a very helpful response. They arranged for one from the garage my car had gone to, to be delivered within 2 days at my workplace. If I remember rightly it was a nearly...
