Kingston USB 2GB Flash Drive

...Hi today I will be reviewing a Kingston DataTravler 2GB USB Flash Drive. I bought this a few months ago after losing my other flash drive. It cost me 9.97 from PC World but I believe you can get them cheaper in other places. Speed For the data that I transfer to it i.e. pictures and some small visual basic programs it transfers them extremely quick compared to some cheap flash drives I have used in the past. Problems So far I have had no major problems other than in windows vista it is not capable of running ReadyBoost which a free flash drive I had a while ago could. Size The overall size of the flash drive is quiet good the USB connector slides in and out with a rather flimsy press and slide switch. Feel The Kingston feels rather cheap and plastic considering the price I paid for it anyway. Over all this is not a bad...

...I gave my 2GB Kingston flash drive a few months ago and I think it's really great. I can use it for Microsoft Windows Vista ReadyBoost to speed up my PC. It's not too expensive and it has got a life-time warranty. It's really fast and every operating system contents a driver to use it. If you want to buy a somewhat cheap flash drive, and need a good quality buy that. Most of new PCs can boot from USB nowadays. Thanks to the USB 2.0 technology I can boot up my favourite live Linux distribution from it and I can save it back when I finished the work. You can use it for system rescue too but if you don't need these special "features" just use it to store and move data. :)...

Advantages: no cap, large sorage space, U3 software is useful
Disadvantages: U3 auto-installing may annoy some people

...I chose this flash drive as corsair are a very well respected memory manufacturer, and had read on various forums that its speed was second to none. I can confirm that as i have used it in conjunction with the Vista Ready Boost function that aims to boost system performance by using a flash drive as a page file, naturally the corsair with its speed was a good choice for this job. This is a very competent and very quick flash drive, which i whole heartedly recommend to anyone. The lanyard is a cool freebie and makes the flash drive easier to find. I decided to look at this Verbatim because the price premium was small over a no-name equivalent with the 2Gb version clocking in at just £14.99. The device comes in a nice looking display package which contains the USB stick itself plus a good quality black lanyard for hanging it around your neck, assuming you like wearing USB sticks. The package is the sort that usually results in blood loss when you crack it open so use scissors and take your time.
