Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Performance Computing For The Masses)
Advantages: Speed, Reliability, Overclockability and Price!
Disadvantages: None!
...The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz CPU is a triumph of computing technology, It combines cool running temperatures, Good clock speeds and Great performance for a low affordable price.
These CPU's are well suited to Gaming applications due to their calculation proccess and their Overclockability, This CPU will run all modern games and future games with ease! providing great FPS Rates and great gaming enjoyment, speeds of 3.6Ghz + can be achieved easily on stock cooling.
With after-market cooling much higher clock speeds can be achieved. This CPU is very stable and reliable even when overclocked.
I was originally hooked on AMD CPU's and was adament that they provided better gaming performance, However after i finaly took the leap to see what all the fuss was about with the Intel C2D CPU's i have never looked back, These CPU's far out...

Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz - 17" TFT
Advantages: nice screen, good battery life, fast specs
Disadvantages: large size (price?)
...Apple mac-books, where to start...
ok, so to start,
it is an apple, that means you get a solid quality product and on the whole very good customer are.
this particualar apple is deffinatly more suited to being a media center than other laptops. At first glance you realise that it is a fairly large laptop, this allows for a big screen, which being an apple ffers clear vivid displays, unfortunatly the big screen increases the overal size and also uses more battery, however, the 4.5 hour yattery is still very good for an entertainment laptop.
The laptops technical specs include a very fast 2.5 ghz dual core proccesor which is very fast, the dual core allows it to tackle multiple tasks quicly as well as increasing the overall speed of the laptop.
The price is quite steep however, but i believe, if given the money, it is...

A Cheap core2 duo processor with handy features.
Advantages: High FSB, large L2 cache memory, 64 bit architecture, operates in low voltage.
Disadvantages: Does not support Hyper-threading technology, very poor L1 cache memory.
...definitely one of the better choices to the consumers.
STANDARD FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES
1. Manufactured in 65nm size, results faster response and quicker execution of Data and programs.
2. Consists of multi core, enables twice speed for data processing.
3. Massive operating frequency of 2.2 GHz.
4. 2MB of L2cache memory allows the user to perform different programs at the same time. Larger cache memory virtually allows the user more freedom to execute several programs at the same time without decreasing the processing speed.
5. Front side bus (FSB) speed up to 800 MHz. This is really a useful feature, as FSB is working as the connector between the processor and different hardware of the system using the chipset. So the higher the FSB, the speedy and faster response.
6. Supports Intel 64 architecture, though it also required a 64-bit...

Fantastic Cheap Laptop
Advantages: Fantastic value for money, easy to use
Disadvantages: Takes a while to load up, poor battery run time
...and the Acer Aspire 5633WLMi, both with the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 graphics card. The Lenovo was only £499 compared to £563 for the Acer but the Acer has a dual core processor (the best apparently), double the memory, and a bigger hard drive. I decided for the sake of £60 the Acer was the better choice and would last me longer. I had never heard of Acer before, so I was a bit dubious about buying one, especially as their laptops are so cheap for the specifications you get, but I have no regrets and I guess with the Sony?s of the world you are just paying a premium for the name.
The specifications of the Acer are head and shoulders above anything else in the price range. It has the latest Intel processor, an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz. The processor (or CPU ? Central Processing Unit) is the part that does all the calculations, it?s the brains...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750/ 2.66ghz
Advantages: Fast clock speed / Good amount of lvl2 cache
Disadvantages: Could balance out workload onto both cores a bit more
...This processor is a fairly mid-high spec for core 2 duo range it delivers some great performance for a good price.
This cpu can handle a lot of multi-tasking along with playing powerful games. Usually i can run a defragmentation and notice it hardly at all i can play games and play music with no problem it just makes desktop computing so easy.
As you may know this is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 / 2.66ghz cpu, It has 2 cores on the one chip. it runs with 64-bit architecture which then opens up a whole new world of 64-bit operating systems for tommorows technolodgy...this along with the fact it has 4mb lvl2 cache makes superfast repsonse rates to programs and files i have also noticed that their are not so many "cache misses" to which i expected so this pleases me the most :D
The only downside is that i have noticed that core...

Core 2 Duo E8500
Advantages: Very Fast, good overclocker
Disadvantages: Possible Temperature problem, E8400 is worth a look at
...The Core 2 Duo E8500 is an extremely fast processor for the LGA 775 socket. At a stock speed of 3.16 Ghz, it is already fast enough to accomedate most user's need, but if people want to push it further, then thats not a problem for this.
I bought the processor at the beginning of last year, and what a great purchase it was. After updating my Bios on the motherboard to support the 45nm processor, it was set and ready to go. After a while though I decided to try and overclock it, and was amazed at how well it did it. I managed to get it 4Ghz + stable with just a simple after market cooler. Overclocking is no problem for this, aslong as you have to motherboard and cooling to match.
When I bought this there was a big debate between the E8400 and E8500, and all it comes down to is .5 of a multiplyer. E8400 is...

The new Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 just rocks
Advantages: Good performance, Great value, Low power consumption, Stability
Disadvantages: None
...A good friend of mine bought this processor and immediately tested it to see the advantages of 4 MB of cache. This new Intel core 2 processor E6420 replaces the old Core Duo E6400, and has a series of notable advantages over the latter one. I tested both products and one thing is sure, by adding two extra MB on the processor die, the performance increased quite a little. I've tested both processors in several aplications and the speed difference varies from almost none (rendering), to notable in encoding, compressing, multimedia (3-6 % speed increase) and to maximum 7-9% speed increase in games and this at the same price like E6400 processor.
The speed is just great for it's price and if you thing it isn't fast enough this processor is highly overclockable. my tested version worked until 3.15 Ghz with the stock cooler included...

Intel's Core 2 Duo E6300
Advantages: Fast, Dual-Core, Overclockable, Great for Gaming
Disadvantages: Price?
...This is an excellent processor from Intel. It is using the new Core 2 Duo technology. This is a dual-core, meaning that it can preform multiple functions, such as browsing the web and listening to music while burning a cd, very well.
This is one of the less expensive processors from the new line. However, I have found it to be the the processor that has the best value. It is an excellent buy and is strongly recommended for all new computers that can afford to spend this much on a processor.
For those interested in overclocking, it offers unbeatable potential. A huge overclock, meaning about 3.2 ghz, is not uncommon or particularly hard to reach with quality components. Please note that this voids your guarantee however.
This is also perfect for gaming. With this, one core can handle background applications, such as winamp...

Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 13.3" - I'm a convert
Advantages: Stylish, flexible, super fast startup
Disadvantages: Pricey compared to a PC
...the choices below; they're all open source/freeware. My budget for toys is dry following the arrival of the MacBook, so it's cheapies or freebies for me for a while.
So here goes:
1. Browser (Firefox)
With the advent of Firefox V3.0 (FF3), I was finally teased away from Internet Explorer (IE) on the PC. The time taken to develop css sites and make them work cross-platform was hugely reduced, I was a convert. I'm sure Safari is truly great, but I'll be sticking to FF for dev for the foreseeable future.
2. Messaging client (MSN Messenger for Mac)
A no brainer really, need to retain the continuity with my previous MSN contacts. That said, I've hardly used it since I installed it.
3. Twitter client (TweetDeck)|
If you're into Twitter, you need a client. This one fits the bill nicely, lets you group your followees and has a nice user interface. It...

the acer aspire, 5633
Advantages: looks, speed
Disadvantages: battery life!!
...on the chunky size!
However when you pick this up you can really feel how thin it is, however this doesn't mean its flimsy, and its actually really good build quality.
Its weight is 2.8 kg, which isn't heavy but to say its quite a small laptop, this shows you how well built it is, and acer have put a lot of effort into it durability.
When I first got to use one of these, I noticed how quickly it started up, this is probably due to its great 2 gb of built in ram. This can even be upgraded to a massive 4 gb if needed.
This laptop also has a Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 which makes the laptop run really fast.
During start up of the laptop, there was quite a bit of fan noise whilst turning on, however you would expect that on a laptop. However whilst on the laptop and when windows is fully loaded, the fan noise cant be heard at all. Even when I...
