Intel Pentium D E5200 Overclockers budget king and luck tester

Disadvantages: low L2 cache and overclocking relies on luck

...The Intel E5200 is a tricky CPU. when overclocking its very unpredictible on how high a clock and how stable you can get it. this chip was taken from the bad end. You have a 50/50 chance of having an overclocking catalyst or a stability wreck. if you want to get great performance for your money though this should do the job nicely it makes an easy 2.7-2.8Ghz overclock. I managed to push mine to 3Ghz an unknowingly damaging it. so if you are an overclocker with this CPU be very careful and run frequent test to male sure you are completely stable because this CPU can go from fly to fry in the slightest adjustment. a safe mark I would say is 2.8Ghz. go to 3Ghz if you have the appropriate cooling and go beyond that if you feel lucky and have amazing cooling but once again be very cautious. this CPU is a bit of a power eater too so try to...

E2180 pentium dual core CPU

Advantages: Cheap, Powerfull
Disadvantages: Small L2 cache

...This is brilliant processor for its small price. In fact i like it so much, im writing this review using it right now. It is really easily over clocked using the right mother board. Personally, i have overclocked to 2.5Ghz using a cheap Gigabyte motherboard and an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro heat-sink fan unit. I have found that it is brilliant for multi-tasking. Even the programs that heavily use CPU power are done with ease on this powerful little processor, all down to its 2 cores. As for heat, obviously depending on case cooling and heat-sink fan, its not too bad. In my computer i have 3 additional 80cm fans for cooling as well as the heat-sink fan and im peaking at 45 degrees Celsius. The only disadvantage i can see with the CPU would be the L2 cache size. At only 1GB its not as fast as the Core 2 Duo CPU's but at this price its...

Intel Core i7 940 - The BadBoy

Advantages: smoother gameplay, no freezing and slowdows, great for animators and game designers
Disadvantages: you'll feel the desire to try Core i7 Extreme.

...This processor just blew my mind off. I had Amd phenom installed and still had troubles with occasional slowdowns and windows freezing issues. I couldn't even play the hard core game GTA IV on highest settings, though my rig was quite a healthy one. With OCG 4gb ddr3 ram, 320 gb SATA hard disk, NVIDIA OC 280 graphics card and nvidia nforce 650i motherboard, I just thought that I would crush this game. But I got quite a wrong response. My rig seemed to be of less strength than what was actually needed. Even when my rig was far more strong than the game actually deserved. Well, just as i am a die hard game geek, I talked about it with few experts and they adviced me to try few hardwares, and since money really doesn't matter sometimes, i did. ...The Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Boxed processor is my first try at the world of dual-core (and eventually multi-core) processing. After building my computer consisting of the Intel processor, EVGA nForce 680i SLI motherboard and EVGA 8800 GTX graphics card, topped up with 2 GB of Corsair XMS2 8500 RAM, I was ready to make another attempt at overclocking. Immediately after purchasing the CPU, I bought a cheap heatpipe fan solution, which didn't keep the CPU cool enough, when running above 3.15 GHz, so I had to upgrade to a Zalman Copper fan later on, which cost around 35 pounds. The CPU now runs at 3.2 GHz, which is by no means a record, but it is enough and the fan is really quiet, so I can leave it running even when I am sleeping (leaving it to crunch some data).
