Pentium 4 steams in
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
rambo
Advantages: Much faster clock speeds, good for games and multimedia applications
Disadvantages: A bit expensive, tricky to upgrage from an existing Pentium chip
...Intel made the first ever showing of the Pentium 4 chip at the Comdex trade show in Las Vegas last Christmas. Pentium 4 based systems currently run at 1.4 and 1.5GHz, they are now appearing in brand names like Dell, Gateway and IBM.
This was a key release for Intel as they were facing though competition from their competitors especially AMD. Presently, the AMD Athlon processor costs half the price of a Pentium 3 and performs better in almost every area.
Rumours have it that the first Pentium 4 chips are not as fast as the current 1GHz Athlon, and are slower than the 1.2GHz Athlon system with DDR memory.
However, the 1.5GHz Pentium 4 chip is excellent for playing games and multimedia devices.
PC manufactures have complained about the high costs involved in making a Pentium 4 chip. They may have a point but whenever a new...

What is the real choise
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
Alligator
Advantages: a lot
Disadvantages: n0
...Hi, I'm Alligator. And i want to present you my new opinion about Intel Pentium 4.
Some month ago I usually asked my friend why they wanted to by new Intel Pentium 4. And they usually told me that the 4th has capacity that necessary today then it has the power for the most modern internet programs, fast speed for creation and edition audio and video materials. Then Pentium 4 has production platform that provides submersion in 3d world.
But in general they are right but now I can tell you more exact about this high power processor because I made sure myself when I bought Intel Pentium 4. At first there are four types of this processor they are 1.3 GHz, 1.4 GHz, 1.5 GHz and 1.7 GHz. And it has a lot of new advantages. For example in the games:
1. Capacity that allows synthesizing more detailed images
2. To raise the realism...

Intel shoots itself in the foot with new chip
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
countlippe
Advantages: Beats P3, a very fast processor
Disadvantages: it does'nt justify the price tag
...The pentium 4 the newest greatest chip from the most popular chip manufacturer - well don't belive the hype this chip maybe the start of a downward spiral that will end in Intel giving its market share to AMD.
Developing new chipsets costs millions of dollars and takes hundreds of hours of research to push the boundaries even further so where has Intel gone wrong? well my recent experience with the Pentium 4 has left me less than impressed and I was not surprised to hear that the prescent AMD 1.3ghz chip can out perform a 1.5ghz Pentium 4.
This is saddening to learn as Intels new cpu has a whole new architexture and runs at a higher FSB speed while AMD's 1.3ghz is basicaly a speeded up version of the 1ghz Athlon.
The consquences for Intel are damaging not just now but in the future because it can't afford to go back to the drawing...

Wow, it must be the fastest chip ever
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
Tygier
Advantages: The the high clock speed will impress cuctomers
Disadvantages: does not do as much per Cycle, slow
...wow, that new Intel Pentium chip runs at 1.5Ghz. It must be the fastest chip out there. Well if you fell for that sorry, it is not really true. Hz is measuring hw many cycles a chip does in a second, what it does not take into account is how much the chip does in a cycle. This means that a 1.5Ghz P4 can be out performed by another chip running at a lower clock speed but doing more calculations per cycle. The easiest example is comparing it to its predecessor the Pentium 3. The P3 can only manage up to about 1Ghz, but even at this clock rate it out performs the P4 at most things! Then there are the Athlons which are now running over the 1Ghz mark, and beating the best Intel has by a long way.
To further prove that the Pentium 4 is well behind, Apples current chip the G4 is about 50% faster in real world Photoshop test than the P4...

Pentium 4 - 2.2Ghz
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
DigitalThing
Advantages: Performs Well
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I wrote this a while, back so I am now publishing it on ciao but it is still fairly up to date. I spend a long time writing this. 1 hour:
After a simultaneous processor release early in 2002, both Intel and AMD are settling back into the standard pattern of trying to beat the other to the punch. Intel impressed us with the Pentium 4 Northwood, as well as jumping a full 200 MHz with the Pentium 4-2.2 GHz. AMD followed this up with their Athlon XP 2100+, which once again had the juice to slip by the fastest Intel had to offer.
The last shot was fired by AMD, so naturally it should be Intel's chance to step up to the plate. And from first glance, Intel seems to be carrying a mighty big bat. With the release of the Pentium 4-2.4 GHz we're seeing yet another 200 MHz speed increase from Intel, which puts even more pressure on the Athlon XP...

Intel, making the bucks, the sneaky way
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
zero
Advantages: They are very powewrful processors
Disadvantages: Too expensive
...I'm not if AMD have done this but Intel definitely have.
When they introduced the PIII 450 MHz for the first time, they did not mention to the public that it was only 10% faster than it's little brother the Pentium II 450MHz processor.
When the gigahertz processor was introduced, it was tested by a popular computer magazine. I found the results to be surprising. In some areas of performance the Gigahertz processor was SLOWER than the 850 MHz processor.
When ever a new processor is introduced it is always overpriced. This overpricing is not little it is ridicously high. A month or two after the release the prices drop massively. Then soon after a new processor is introduced, faster and more powerful. When this show will end who knows.
These very powerful processors don't even operate to maximum performance because of the operating...

THE INTEL PROCESSOR.
Review of Intel Pentium 4 530J / 3 GHz processor by
packerlist
Advantages: VERY HIGH SPEED IN PROCESSING
Disadvantages: : MAKES NOISE.
...I got this just for two reasons; the number one reason is that my other Intel seems to be outdated and the number two reasons is that I wanted a more advanced and faster processor for my PC gaming so I had to buy this for these reasons. The processor comes in an orange packed colour with blue stripe at the edge of the pack and also with an instruction, heat stick and fan for cooling down the temperature.
The processor makes it outright for easy installation and application so no problem when it comes to installations and ease of use.
The Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHZ socket 775 CPU has hyper technology and I think that was the best processor computer product I could find in the market and I decided to buy it after a long battle between Intel and athlon processor on which one to buy. The Intel processors that I have been using have been good...

I aint cheap, but this is ridiculous
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
GENIUS
Advantages: Good reliable, and good performance
Disadvantages: too pricey
...Bill Gates is the richest geezer in the world, so why does he have to make even more money, he can't spend what he has already got. He is a money grabbing, cash stealing psycho. OK, his software and processors etc are exceptional, the speed and performance is brilliant, including the new pentium iv, but why does he have to charge so much.
I have recently bought a new computer with a thunderbird 750 mhz processor and it is brilliant, the performance matches that pentium stuff, but guess what, it only cost be £400, for the whole computer.
Don't buy pentium, go for cheaper makes, that perform just as well, in the end (if we all do that) Bill will realise that he is a twat and will lower his prices....

Intel 541 Review
Review of Intel Pentium 4 541 / 3.2 GHz processor by
robump
Advantages: Great Price, Value for money
Disadvantages: It is not dual core, Single core processors are becoming out dated
...I have used this processor in my media centre when i built it up. I feel that it is excellent value for money. It comes with everything you need for you to install it into a lga 775 socket, the fan and heatsink already come supplied with thermal paste applied. It is very easy to install into a socket 775 and uses conductive pads instead of the old pins. I would say it took me about 15mins to install mine and it works brilliantly. It runs at an average temperature of about (34 degrees celcius) this really depends on how much other cooling you have in your case. This processor uses intels hyper threading technology which helps it along when you are doing very processor intensive tasks e.g. video encoding. This processor runs very stable at 3.2 ghz and I have not tried overclocking it yet as i have no need for a media centre. I have...

Pentium Flaw
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
mark.thompson
Advantages: Fast, Available to anyone and his dog.
Disadvantages: Expensive, do not perform at best yet due to lack of demanding software.
...When it comes to the processor market and the way that the sales are split, I am very disturbed at the fact that newcomers seem to go for Intel chips, especially the latest Pentium ranges! Now we see the advent of the Pentium 4 chips, available widely in 1.1, 1.3, and 1.4 GHz models. I work with over 100 machines at a time, all which once ran on Intel chips, this however, was changed when we realised our "breakdown rate" was 1 in 6! This clearly shows that Intel are just in for the money and couldn't care less about reliability. Now we use AMD and the "breakdown rate" with them is less than 1 in 23! Astonishing. Nevertheless, the P4 is a technological breakthrough so more about that (after working slepplessly with it for a week). I received my P4 1.4 GHz machine with 512MB RAM and all the gubbins. I was worried that it failed many of our...
