Established server platform
Review of Intel Xeon 1.7 GHz processor by Oliy

Advantages: Established, good value, stable, large L2 cache
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest nor the best performing

...This processor, based on the highly successful Pentium III core is well established in servers - the large (up to 2mb) L2 cache allows good server performance for multiple users. It can be used in dual or quad array, and currently is available in speeds of up to 800mhz. New competitors in the field, including P4 Xeon and AMD MP Athlon 'Palomino' may be ahead in terms of performance, but currently P4 Xeons cost the earth, and P4 is doubted to be much better performers than PIII anyway. The AMDs are currently unreleased to the market, therefore leaving the PIII to take up the slack in small server markets. Its core enhances over the PII Xeon make it a more viable option, and price drops to keep the PIII competitive with AMD and P4 make it economically sensible. The PIII's stability (key feature for a server) plays an important role... Read review

What is the real choise
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by Alligator

Advantages: a lot
Disadvantages: n0

...Hi, I'm Alligator. And i want to present you my new opinion about Intel Pentium 4. Some month ago I usually asked my friend why they wanted to by new Intel Pentium 4. And they usually told me that the 4th has capacity that necessary today then it has the power for the most modern internet programs, fast speed for creation and edition audio and video materials. Then Pentium 4 has production platform that provides submersion in 3d world. But in general they are right but now I can tell you more exact about this high power processor because I made sure myself when I bought Intel Pentium 4. At first there are four types of this processor they are 1.3 GHz, 1.4 GHz, 1.5 GHz and 1.7 GHz. And it has a lot of new advantages. For example in the games: 1. Capacity that allows synthesizing more detailed images 2. To raise the realism... Read review

Introducing core 2 duo at the lowest price
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 / 1.8 GHz processor by neo1983

Advantages: Greatest value and performance at the lowest price, highly overclockable
Disadvantages: Only 1MB L2 shared cache, performance hit in games

...; ▀ ▀ First was the great Core 2 Duo E6000 family. The first Intel Core 2 Duo processor cores, code-named Conroe were launched on July 27, 2006 at Fragapalooza, a yearly gaming event in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. These processors are built on a 65 nm process and are intended for desktops, replacing the Pentium 4 and Pentium D. All Conroe processors are manufactured with 4 MB L2 cache; however, for marketing purposes, the E6300 and E6400 versions based on this core have half their cache disabled, leaving them with only 2 MB of usable L2 cache. These processors had great performance and after a long period Intel had again the performance crown in the processors market, beating AMD's Athlon X2 in the majority of benchmarks. The E4000 family (Allendale core) was launched after few months with the main role to compete with mainstream... Read review

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by mash123

Advantages: handle multiple tasks at same time and doesnt slow pc.
Disadvantages: potentially waste of money

...the latest processor from intel, the new intel core 2 quad is the most powerful processor available for the average home pc. The 2.4GHz processor is more than enough for everyday tasks on your pc. This is perfect if you do hardcore gaming, video editing etc or both! The four cores allow you to simultaneously do alot of tasks on the pc and it will not slow down your pc. As more and more software for pc's need a lot of processing power, this processor is the most up to date and the most powerful as yet. The downside to getting this would be that as computing power of computers are increasing faster and faster with respect to time, the quad core processor will no doubt be yesterdays news within a few months as intel have plans to release an octa-core processor which will then outdate this one.... Good performer at low price
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ / 2 GHz processor by nquinnathome1

Advantages: Cheap, good performance, rock solid stability, for 939 (older) AMD boards
Disadvantages: Cast aside by newer processors

...at stock speeds. The X2 3800+ is also a pretty good overclocker; it stocks at 2Ghz with a 10x multiplier, but you can push it up to 2.6 - 2.7Ghz if you\'re a dab hand at it. The stock cooler is great if you don\'t bother with overclocking; if you do overclock, the cooler will get you half way but after that you might be better off with a better third-party cooler. I\'ve given it four stars because if you want the best bang for buck and don\'t mind spending some extra, the current Intel offering is better in terms of performance. If all you need is a fast day-to-day computer or only interested in a processor upgrade for an existing 939 board this might be the package you\'re looking for.... Read review

Intel finally catches up with AMD
Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by Kinny

Advantages: Fast, equals perforamce of AMD at the GHz clock speed
Disadvantages: Too expensive

...'s hasn't be long since the release of the 1GHz processors, intel was the first to officially release theirs in an attempt to try and regain the CPU market, and not long after their release, AMD followed in pursuit. Since then Intel has start to reduce the gap between them and AMD. Intel's PIII Ghz processors is now neck and neck with AMD's Ghz processors as tests suggest. Whether it is with RAMBUS or not it's still offering equal if not better in performace to AMD's Athlon and Thunderbird CPUs. AMD processors are cheaper to buy than Intel PIII's, but if you can afford it then go for the PIII at Ghx speed, they are more reliable than Athlons of Thunderbirds, but you will need to pick a very good motherboard for it to last and to be able to ensure you can squeeze the last bit of processing power out of your CPU. Anything below about 900MHz... Read review

The AMD AthlonXP 2600+? 3200+ more like
Review of AMD Athlon XP 2600+ / 1.92 GHz processor by Sebworld

Advantages: Fast, Excellent MHz/£ ratio, Highly Overclockable
Disadvantages: Hotter than Intel P4s, Die is more fragile.

...The AMD AthlonXP 2600+ is in my opinion the best choice for those of you thinking of upgrading, or even buying a new system. And of course I will now tell you why. Speed ----------- Running at an FSB of 166MHz, with the help of DDR we double that to 333MHz, the Athlon 2600+ has the equivalent speed of a Pentium 4 2.5GHz (in terms of general use) and because of its optimization with Windows XP boasts Windows processing performance better than Pentiums running faster than 2.7GHz. In simpler terms it out-performs the Pentium equivalents in every day-to-day tasks. For games the Athlon runs just as well if not better than the Pentium 4 2.6GHz. The only thing that AThlon XP processors seem to be slower at is hard-core video and music processing (in otherwords putting together a video clip and turning .WAV files into MP3s etc... Read review

Q6600 2.4GHz CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by kathymoger

Advantages: Blistering speeds
Disadvantages: Ideally needs Vista 64 bit but few software compatibility probems

...Intel have really got it right with this CPU. It was easy to install and runs like a dream. To take real advantage of the power of this CPU it really needs the Vista 64bit version and there are few software compatibility problems now so it is worth taking the plunge. I've never seen software install so quickly on a PC as with this processor and running Windows updates, background tasks, processor hungry games etc. just doesn't have an impact on the blistering speeds. It is hard to fault this processor and I would thoroughly recommend it. I would also recommend using the fastest Hard Disk Drive and peripherals you can afford with this processor as it would be a shame to not take full advantage of its power.... Read review

Great, fast, cheap
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 / 2.4 GHz processor by mop591

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: hard to think of one

...This intel dual core processor with 2.4Ghz speed (total speed of 4.8Ghz) with a 2MB Cache can handle an awful lot of demanding programs runnning at once and for the amazingly low price its a very good processor. This processor is also compatable with 64 bit computing. It has an LGA775 Socket which is compatable with most motherboards (up to you to check these things) if you are looking to upgrade or build your own pc. If you are looking to buy a processor i would highly recommend this one or several similar ones, but you need to have IT experience and know what you are doing before paying out for one of these. It comes with a 3 year limited warrenty so it is really set to last.... Read review
