"Internal Communications? What's that then?"

Advantages: It's rewarding, it gives you an excuse to be nosy about stuff in the name of good communications
Disadvantages: Can be a dumping ground for work people can't pigeonhole, have to be very careful re confidentiality

Internal Mangler

Advantages: Eclectic, surprising, energetic
Disadvantages: length, fails to capitalise on band's early promise

...This is Clinic's first album proper after last year's hugely exciting EP collection. Where that compilation presented a hotch-potch of baffling instrumentals and buzzing low budget, home recorded psychedelic garage epics, "Internal Wrangler" consists of... erm, more of the same, actually. The sound of the album is very rough and ready and there have been numerous negative opinions expressed about it's overwhelming similarity to the Velvet Underground's sound, but don't be taken in. Clinic have taken their blueprint and added helium-pitched, barking vocals (a little like Brian Molko out of Placebo being tortured with a mangler), Mary Chain thrash guitars and even Krautrock rhythms. mixing odd sounds, with odd lyrics

Advantages: great tracks and sounds, bit different
Disadvantages: not long enough

...album, a lot of the songs are pretty similar to each other, only changing in tempo and occasionally throwing in a few bird cries from time to time. In a lot of them sometimes it's hard to work out what the lyrics are because the voice is quite soft and they are sung pretty quickly. Voodoo Wop: Starts off slowly with only the sound of drums before speeding up in the middle with sounds of the seaside, a tide washing up on the sand, a bee and very few lyrics. The Return of Evil Bill: Fast paced, mainly influenced with guitars, drums and a mouth organ. Can't really pick up on the singing but it is quite catchy. Internal Wrangler: The title track. Again the usual guitars and drums combo only they've opted for a more electronic sounding theme throughout. This one sounds a lot like something The Velvet Underground might sing. ...Interpet duo 4 has to be the best internal filter i have ever used, it is capable of coping with 180 liters of water without any problems and can cope with even the messiest of pets like my marsh turtles. It has a triple action filtration system which basically means it goes through 3 different types of filter sponge before being let back into the tank so it catches 3 times the amount of waste as other filters do which realy does seem to make a difference in my tank. It has a rocker switch areation controlls which gives me a lot more controll of how fast the water flows through than on pumps with a turn button. It is very easy to fit to your tank, it comes with a plastic cradle very similar to the ones used with heater tubes which suctions to the side of your tank and the filter just clips in allowing you to remove it easily...

...When buying a modem should you go internal or external. With most PC's this question is already answered as they are equipped with an internal modem. Most internal modems are known as winmodems because they are driven by windows drivers and eat up a small percentage of CPU time to make them work. An external modem, on the other hand, has it's own memory and processor and doesn't use precious CPU cycles. Because an internal winmodem uses the processor it will not perform as well as an external modem. I recently changed from a winmodem connecting at 46,667bps to US Robotics 56K Faxmodem that continually connects at 49,333bps. Nothing else has changed. The telephone line is exactly the same line used by the winmodem (which now sits in another machine). When considering buying a modem you should also consider ease of installation...

...came this horrible snapping graunching noise followed by a couple of bits of plastic making their way out through the paper slot! I switched off the machine and took a look,discovering that the bits of plastic were in fact teeth from the cogs in the drive mechanism.Not being happy with this I marched off to Argos to complain,only to be told that?its beyond our 16 day return policy sir,you`ll have to take it up with the manufacturers? Having got home very annoyed it occurred to me that Argos hadn`t even asked for my receipt and the fact that I didn`t even know if I still had it! Tales from a Velvet Underground

...you just have to love this band. Any band who can appear on stage dressed in full surgeon gear & masks & then create such a bizzare mish-mash of 60s Garage meets Ray Manzarek having a breakdown meets the Velvet Underground is okay by me. I first discovered Clinic on the Evening Session (like most bands) or maybe it was Peel, with their wonderful early single "Monkey on my Back" (see album 1 Clinic - "Clinic"), a deranged Hammond stomp resembling the likes of Gallon Drunk or Jonathan Fire*eater (no bad thing). It prompted me to buy the first album, a pure delight of noise & insanity. "Internal Wrangler" is much more polished, a mellower affair by whole, with some obvious exceptions still. ...* HI GORGEOUS Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie return for a third season of the popular 'Simple Life' television series after the huge success of the two prior, and once again there was an added twist to keep the show formula fresh. This season was dubbed 'Interns' as it saw the spoilt pair taking on two-day internships at various different employments, and instead of having their luxury motorhome to stay in, they would travel to each location by bus meaning that they had double the opportunity to annoy the general public around them. This would not be the million dollar heiresses show without some catchphrases to help sell the series, and with the now dated that's hot, we saw them calling each other 'sil' and 'bil', short for silly and billy of course.
